You might have to be mindful that syncing with those devices might require some “optional” linking devices - sold separately.

It might also be that these dedicated HRMs are as obsolete as the iPod now.
All you want is a bluetooth or ANT sensor like the Polar H7.

  Not everyone wants to carry a phone with them when exercising (eg running) and certainly don't want to pull their phone out to check heart rate.

  One of the main advantages is that these Polar HRM's are compatible with most Gym cardio equipment.
  So you can see your HR on the equipment display.
  
  But yes, Polar had a good run for many years.
