i cant seem to find any available flights between kualalumpur - delhi during the month of may. It give me sold out not found through out the month of may

    • that's because delhi flights doesn't start until 4 august

  • Anyone else noticed how AirAsia has really upped their prices over the last 6 or so months. I remember they were on sale for like $150 every week last year and now its like $600-800 return.

    • You can fly for about $500 return later this month.
Not the cheapest they have ever offered, but anything less than $300 return to Malaysia is a super hot deal.
Remember how much you used to pay before Air Asia, which was well over $1000 return…

    • KL-AUS sector has a high demand and AA makes big chunk of profits from this route.

    • Can't always expect fares to stay low really. Supply and demand. $400-$500 return is still great prices when compared to before AirAsias launch into the sector.

    • For some of the peak dates I checked, KL -> Melbourne on AirAsia was almost the same price as Jetstar for Singapore -> Sydney. Not always worth flying via Melbourne for us Sydneysiders.

  • Looks like my flight this month going over doesn't have the new seats, but my coming back flight has them!
They look a look better than the current (non-reclining) type.
Also, it seems they have dramatically reduced the number of premium seats (from 28 to 12), but they are going to be charging a heap more!

    • How can you tell if you will have the new seats? I'm flying late next month and really hoping I don't have to sit upright the whole time…

      • If the flight offers the flatbed seats then you should be on a flight with the reclining ones. The current seats don't recline but you can get some lean by moving the seat itself forward (you get less legspace though).

        EDIT: and welcome to OzBargain.

        • Great, thanks.
And thanks for the welcome :)

          • @Morien: Quoting from the link above:
AirAsia X is progressively retrofitting all of its aircraft throughout 2010. Although all routes are expected to receive the new seats from 1 June, with all Australian flights by April 2010, we are not able to guarantee the availability of the new seats if a spare aircraft is required as a substitute for our own aircraft in the event of maintenance scheduling.

            • @amkssg: You'd be annoyed if you paid extra for flatbed and didn't get one.
You can manage your booking and select seat. You can then see if your plane has the new layout or old.

        • Here is the schedule for new premium seat deployment:

          http://www.airasia.com/my/en/myflights/premiumseat.html

Perth and Melbourne flights should already have the new seats (can anyone confirm this?) while Gold Coast gets them from 18 April.

Here is a good blog post from Air Asia about the new seats and reasons behind the older design being turfed:
          http://blog.airasia.com/index.php/finally-new-seats-for-aira…

          • @Cluster: Our flight from MEL - KUL and KUL - MEL last month had the new seats in both directions.

  • Thanks. Booked one-way Gold Coast-KL Oct.

EDIT: Also nice now that they have an option to pay with Paypal. Eliminates any CC/"convenience" fees.

  • where is sydney :(

  • Can someone give a low down on the prices? I assume they are in the $199-220 range for MEL to KL we've been accustomed to?

  • i rate air asia. i reckon for service you get.. its way better than most budget airlines

  • Big plus from me. Booked an airfare from KUL to New Delhi in premium seats for $600 (inc 20% off) return. That's the price of normal economy fares from other airlines.

  • Does anyone know if a sale for December will happen during the year. Or is that time not normally on sale?

  • It appears that AA may not be able to start their SYD-KUL flights in July. The Malaysian Government hasn't given them permission yet.

    • Yeah. Damn Malaysian government trying to protect Malaysia Airlines' routes.

      • Which is a bit silly of them, because if they allowed AirAsia i'm sure they'd be getting a lot more Australian tourists over there, helping their economy.

        • Silly but not illogical. The government doesn't have the country's interests in mind. :(

  • Has anyone managed to book tickets? I'll try again later, but first shot got to Credit Card details, then told me that I hadn't gotten to the page by proper means.

    • Worked for me earlier in the day. The interface is a little funny, as it requires users to enter their details in two tabs. If for example someone puts a "+" in their phone number, the site shows an error, but the phone fields are not actually visible.

  • I hope this is not against protocol but I am trying to get rid of some Jetstar tickets (Singapore to Perth for 3 July) and they could complement someone's ticket during this sale from Perth to KL! KL is a 4 hour coach ride/45 min plane ride to Singapore. I believe Jetstar has some specials for KL-Singapore too, about RM95/A$32 incl. tax and 20kg check-in luggage.

The tickets I'm trying to pass on are cheaper than the Airasia ones from KL to Perth. My post is in the forums under Selling stuff!

    • I thought flight tickets are non-transferable.

EDIT: Maybe an Al-Qaeda operative may be interested in yours.

      • Sorry that one flew right over my head.

If you go on to the Jetstar website and look under the Jetsaver rules, you will note that they state that only time, date, and name changes are allowed. Changes to origin/destination are not.

I did call up to check also, and they confirmed that I'm allowed to change the names (hence my trying to transfer it to someone).

If anyone is worried I'm trying to pull a fast one they can read the Jetsaver rules, and call up Jetstar to check. I do believe it is stated in the second rule of Jetsaver tickets.

        • Just checked. http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/travel-info/at-the-airport/cond…

There seems to be a fee attached to this. Any idea how much this is?

          6.1 Ticket not transferable
You must not give or sell your Booking to anyone else to use. A Booking is not transferable to another person. If someone else presents themselves to travel on your Booking and we discover that that person is not you, we may refuse to carry that person. However, if we do not discover that the Booking has been transferred and as a result carry the person, we are not obliged to replace your Booking or give you a refund. The applicable fare rules may permit you to change the passenger name and create a new Booking if you pay any applicable fare difference and change fees.

          • @Livert: My understanding of that is that they mean that someone is not allowed to falsely represent you. That would be more applicable to your al Qaeda operative I think, but I am changing the name to the person travelling so there is no misrepresentation of identity.

The Jetstar operator did not mention any cost to change (as it might still be quite early to make changes). She just told me that I have to have the names of both parties travelling and I have to call in person to verify the the name changes, that is all. However, I would hazard a guess (if there is a cost), it would be between $60-$80 (which is the cost to upgrade from JetSaver Light to JetSaver after purchase), and I would absorb it.

            Extract:
            2. Subject to availability and payment of all applicable amounts, limited changes can be made to your Booking as follows:
            a) Only date, time and passenger name changes are permitted (except passenger name changes are not permitted on
            Any Seat Award bookings), subject to availability. Changes to the origin or destination of travel are not permitted;

            • @flyt: It very much a technicality because the person that books doesn't need to fly. ie you can book for other people.
Therefore, you can change the names of those flying. However, you can't change the person who booked.
As far as Jetstar is concerned, they don't really care about who is flying. All they care about is the fact that the fare is paid and someone will get on the flight.

Here's the risk of buying air tickets off someone.
The original buyer after selling you the tickets can technically sell the ticket to someone else as well. Also, do note that the original buyer can simply change the name again and use the tickets since jetstar has no knowledge of any external transaction you do. Therefore, you risk being ripped off.

              • @amkssg: Hmm. Well I was told by Jetstar only the passengers can call up personally to change the flight. I have no idea if they will change the details of the tickets (e.g. address, etc) to suit the passengers later but I assume they will because they require the details of the passengers in case of emergency.

Truthfully I did not think there would be so many problems, I might just keep the tickets and give them to family. At least I get to generate some goodwill! Just thought someone might appreciate them because they were so much cheaper; I price beat them during a Tiger sale.
