good to see wireless1 taking care of it's ozbargin customers

  • Not a bad deal considering the extra two years warranty and bonus item. However I got a Dell mini 10 with exactly the same specifications for $389 delivered a month ago, one year warranty and no other bonus though. I guess Toshiba is a better brand and the extra two year cover is excellent.

  • What colour does this model come in? Can i get a silver one or is it only available in black? Really keen on getting one.

    • it only comes in black

  • I just hate how they have to put a big 'TOSHIBA' on the lid of every machine they sell. Decent deal though.

  • Does this have inbuilt 3G..?

  • what's the diff between this and the nb305?

    • As far as I can tell "nb305" is the individual model designation Toshiba uses in the US for the NB300 series.

I transited through LAX last week and so was on the look-out to grab a cheap netbook locally whilst there. I'm a big Toshiba fan so was particularly looking at the NB305's and researched them a fair bit. Ended up not getting anything as the prices weren't as sharp as I wanted for just a netbook.

[Glad I didn't get anything if Gary from HN is successful in his grand efforts to fill our back-orders on the eM250's!]

Whilst researching I particularly liked the second review listed here on Amazon - comparing two similar NB305 models. http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Mini-NB305-N310-10-1-Inch-Netb…

Windows 7 starter seems like a big neg if it only allows 3 aps open concurrently (??)! I read this to mean that if I have Skype, Firefox & OpenOffice running then I can't read a pdf without closing one of the aforementioned. So XP appears to be best for Netbooks(??). However there are some allegations that MS won't allow it to be OEMed on netbooks with HDs over 160GB.

The Atom N450 processor on this NB300 appears to be a major plus over the Atom N270 or N280 - not so much in performance but in regard to extending battery life. And great with the 6-cell battery - that I think on this model no-longer sticks out behind the screen like a very ugly tacked-on camel's hump(?? Jason?). Some reports give over 10hrs usage.

I think this is a good price on a good machine - and the extra warranty probably makes it a bargain for a Toshiba. Personally, I'd be asking for $35 bucks off to keep the Logitech thing and its postage (Jason??). If you're not going Linux then Windows 7 starter may need an upgrade which will require RAM upgrade too - unless there is a viable path to downgrade to XP.

      • So NB305's may be grey imports! (Although they are listed on Toshiba's Australian website!) Not sure that this matters though as one of the reasons I choose Toshiba is for their world-wide warranties. caveat emptor

pick one of these up at Austin PC (WA) for $399 last Saturday!
    http://www.austin.net.au/ProductList/ProductDetail/tabid/104…

    • and an option to upgrade to 2GB RAM!

      well,
they are not the same model,
if you did look at the specs, the one you bought is not 250GB HDD, and it's not WiFi N.
not 3 years warranty, not with a Logitech S125i
      so enjoy

      • 3.25 out of 4

On top of listing Austin state that it only has b & g, but below in the specs they list is with b/g/n!

From the look of Toshiba's website it would appear that all 300 series machines come with b, g & n.

Toshiba list 2yr extended warranty @ RRP of AUD$165 on notebooks with 12mnth basic!!

    • congrats on picking up an inferior model.

  • my apology jason…didn't look at the specs…How silly was i to assume that the specs would be the same for the same model.
