  • Great app, sucks I just paid full price 3 days ago, oh well :)

I think its worth the money at full price. I bought it at full price more than 3 years ago and still use it so definitely worth it.

  • Great app, use it every day!

They should sync it to the Xiaomi Mi Band, that'd be great!

    • +1

I agree. I've wanted this since I got my Mi Band a year ago. The sleep as android website says it can't because the Mi Band doesn't support 3rd party integration.

    • They've added Mi Band support yesterday I believe :-)

      Was in the release notes

  • Last updated: January 1, 2015?

This is the "unlock" app - the free app is the one that is regularly updated.

Good app, and good price. Not very pretty, but works well.

      • Oh I see. That makes sense. Main app updated: March 25, 2016

  • What extras do I get over the free version? I have been using the free version but can't think of what else you would get/need in the paid?

This is a good app, even though I didn't use the sleep tracker, just alarm.
    Nevertheless, here is my review:
    1. The alarm features is plenty for hard sleeper.
    2. The sleep tracker, i doubt it's very accurate, also quite concern with phone being on every night, plus I sometimes forgot turning it on. So in other words, I don't find it too reliable.
    3. These days smartwatches should be a better sleep tracker, if you like them on your wrist. The cheapest is Xiaomi at about $20.

Who sleeps nowadays? I am up all night waiting for new Ozbargains!

I still use my analogue alarm clock that has an inbuilt 10W amplifier which wakes the whole neighborhood up.

I hate you. (I think I live next door to you)

      Is your alarm at 645

      • 5.30 am

How does this compare to the Sleep Cycle app?

    • +1

also interested in knowing. use an old ipod with Sleep Cycle as alarm, wondering if this would be better

  • Might get this. Been using the freebie for a while now. Good tracking as i have had sleep issues in the past. Decent alarm . Doesnt look like it has much competition on playstore…

    • The sleep tracking is woefully inaccurate.

  • Great app, I only use a portion of the features though! Have been with it for a few years and never a problem.

  • The app sends data to their servers by default. Other than that, seems effective and has a great UI.

  • Does anyone know why, for all of this app's fancy functionality, it doesn't have automatic sleep detection with a smartwatch? I really don't like to have to start it before going to sleep, stopping it in the morning and pausing when getting up to go to the toilet.

I could wake up in the middle of the night, toss and turn for an hour, walk up and down the stairs, and yet it will still record it as 'light sleep' unless I pause it. The same happens if I forget to stop sleep tracking in the morning.

In other words, the only stat I find remotely reliable is the 'deep sleep' information.

So you find the measurement that you are least able to assess as being accurately due to being unconscious aside from anything else the most reliable one.

      OK.

      • Reliable because, unlike light sleep, it will never detect deep sleep if I'm awake.

Just putting this out there. Although the effects of electromagnetic radiation (charger and/or device) are still inconclusive, it is believed that interactions with mobile phones in some way or another shortly before bed-time may interfere with sleep quality (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2577824/Why-NEVER-…).

A lot of OzBargainers use flux or others apps to reduce blue light (http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/…) on their PCs and phones, but I don't think a mass study has been performed as yet on the effectiveness of these apps (which could vary per phone model) - my phone often switches to normal light for a few seconds, which is apparently all it takes to screw you over.

On the flip-side, a lot of people won't stop using their phones before bed anyway and some people swear by this app for improving their subjective sensations of wakefulness. Whether you keep the phone directly by your head all night is another issue (knowing the way science works, they'll find out in 50 years that it slightly increases brain cancer risk but reduces risk of dementia…).

      This comment should be higher.

Blue light, especially emitted from handheld devices, can suppress melatonin and thus cause sleep deprivation.

      http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/q-a-why-is-blue-li…

I use this sleep app religiously, but i use the twilight app at 70% strength to reduce the aforementioned lighting.

    • Wearing orange glasses past 9pm helps, ever since I got them a few years ago my sleep has been great.

  • Great little app.

My favorite function is using QR codes to turn off the alarm.

My QR code is on the fridge in my kitchen, so I have to physically get out of bed, and go to the kitchen to turn the alarm off.

Pretty foolproof way to force yourself out of bed.

    • Unless turn off your phone when the alarm goes off, which I do. There's no way to disable the power button from what I can see.

  • Compared sleep tracking to my fenix 3 and this app was completely inaccurate.

    • What made you conclude that it was the app was inaccurate? Did you use it with another smart device or just had the phone next to the bed?

      • I said I compared it to my Garmin fenix 3

        • I know, that's why I asked - how do you know that it's not the Garmin that's inaccurate?

Were you using Sleep with just the phone or s smartwatch? If it's the former, than I'm not surprised that it was inaccurate. A phone laying next to the bed can't compete with a sensor worn on your wrist. However, if you have tested Sleep running on a smartwatch against the Garmin Fenix 3 then how do you know which one of the two was inacruate? They both use a combination of sensors and software / algorythms for sleep tracking.

        • @elektron: yeah it was just next to the bed. Don't have another smart watch to try out.
Don't think fenix 3 would have issues, it being the best fitness watch in the market at the moment.

Been using this great app for ages and just unlocked mine through the app itself and was only .99c.
Press the unlock ad on the bottom of your free version, say 50% off.
Strange though as i just tried misses phone and wants 1.99.
    Anyone else get .99c

    • This. Get it for 99c.

      • mine still says 1.99? both via in app and via the unlock button which takes me to the appstore

        • I got mine for 99c through the app. Maybe they've patched it. :(

        • @JayM: I've only just downloaded the app again (fresh phone, used it before tho) so maybe that has something to do with it? how long ago did you purchase it?

        • @kirbycake:

About 10 mins before I posted my first reply in this thread but I have had it installed for almost ~4 months so it could well be that it doesn't work on fresh installs.

        • @kirbycake: My purchase was just before the post also and i want to be sure before posting so i also looked at my partners phone as above priced.
My app is a reinstall over a year ago (but been using years) and partners is over 6mths

  • I use this and the sleep taking may or my not be accurate, I don't know,, but I really love the alarm features and will get this to unlock the other sounds to put me to sleep…

    • Also received a 10% discount for being a Google music customer!

  • how does this compare to Sleep Cycle?
