  • Great price!! Wish I could buy one or two!

  • Good deal since it's $789 at Officeworks… but if you print the Shopping Square ad and take it into Officeworks you should be able to get it for $711.50 with their 5% price beat guarantee!

Is it just me or is the $49 shipping fee excessive?

    • +2

      it is excessive.

Try to apply coupon code: 96CEE9
        in the shopping cart

and get $20 off shipping (ie. $29 Shipping Australia wide)

        • coupon is only valid with Acer Aspire 5740 Core i3-330 15.6" Notebook PC
      • Cheers!

    • Ouch. $49 shipping (well, even $29 shipping) is really excessive. Notebooks via Auspost, fully insured/registered, Australia-wide costs no more than $25… And gets down to about $12 for local metros.

  • nice price!

DSE sells same model for $744 with free delivery.

  • You could be more lucky…I bought the same exact model…but Acer (by mistake) built i5 processor in it, instead of i3!

    $200 extra value :-)

I will give this laptop 8 out of 10
Though its 6 cell battery, max use is 3 hours…
    Otherwise its pretty good laotop

  • graphics card sux0rz

    • It's good enough for Windows Aero. I'm sure no one would expect this notebook to be useful for any serious gaming.

  • Lexsus, can you tell me why it sux, have you had problems before with one, if so what sort of problems????

    • It doesn't suck if you don't want to do anything more than Internet, Office and Video type tasks..
If you want to play the latest and greatest game on it, that's when it sucks…

      • Surely anyone who buys a notebook isn't going to be looking for something to play the latest games??

        • Horses for courses, I guess.

I know a few people who don't actually own a desktop anymore.

  • problem is it doesn't play Modern Warfare

The higher spec version, Acer AS5740G-334G50Mn, is more expensive, yet may suit some people.
(Especially if the graphics card and bonus products it comes with are of use.)

    For $170 extra…
The advantages are: 1GB ATI Radeon HD5650 and 4GB DDR3
The bonus products: laptop bag, MS Bluetrack mouse and web security software (Bullguard) for three computers.

The downside: entails a $99 cashback (Acer's bureacracy is notoriously difficult) and Acers are statistically less reliable.

Upfront cost: $998 with free delivery.
Eventual cost: $899 (vs $729 for plain 5740)

  • sounds like i should go for better one but i need claim back the GST when i go oversea…..and i dont have a date yet….
