Logitech MX Anywhere 2 $35.99 - Dick Smith

560

Just got back from Dick Smith Mt Druitt (NSW) and picked up what I believe is a true bargain for this mouse.

At the time i left, I counted 6 more visible on the shelves. A few of the Dick Smith branded wireless mouses were also avaliable.

I have the MX Master and the Dick Smith 8 button ergonomical one looks identical in design so worth a punt at $20.99

Other than that the store was pretty barebones. Happy hunting!

    "Dick Smith Mt Druitt (NSW)"
    too dangerous for a mouse

    • +22

Which was why I strapped on my kevlar stab proof vest and dodged all the housos asking for a spare dollar… if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a houso!

      • +2

you watch movie too much man…

        • +14

Guilty as charged, I also drink and trawl through Ozbaragin too much, but none of us are perfect right? :)

    • +1

but the charcoal chicken near the station is good…

      • +1

The one redeeming feature of living in the area, too bad the other chicken shop across from 7-11 closed down. 2nd best garlic sauce next to El-Jannahs

        • -1

          Hawa's > El Jannah

      • Or just go to Granville… 2 decent charcoal chickens near the station. ;)

        • That's not chicken

        • @BargainKen:

That's not chicken, it's a 'serving suggestion': "we suggest that you imagine this is chicken".

    • +4

Probably the reason why they had 6 left. Either too expensive or not worth the risk ;)

    • But not too dangerous for a Zackyd!

      • +2

I literally pump myself up in front of the mirror just before braving Hell's Kitchen… I mean Mt Druitt!

        • you need to call the Punisher…lol

    • im going to assume Mt Druid of NSW is SA's version of Elizabeth.

    • +1

      They really paid for it?

    • Is Mt Druitt that dangerous? I used to go there (in business attire), never had any problems…lucky?

      • eh tbh I've been in the surrounding areas (blacktown and seven hills) and they aren't that bad but im not too sure about mt druitt last time I was there my dad locked the doors to the car as we pulled in so idk

    • +1

      Mouso for a houso

  • For those in WA, I'd say, good luck. I haven't seen any anywhere in the last couple of days.

    • yeah WA stores seem totally gutted .. wouldn't be surprised if they closed them down sooner rather then later.

      • I was told by the guy at the counter that your best bet in the upcoming week or two is to find out which store is performing the best in terms of sales.

This is because they will be shipping all remaining stock to stores who have higher than average stock movement.

At this rate, anything worth getting is most likely gone and the remaining high value stock, TV's, laptops, ect.. probably won't get much more of a discount as it would probably be more profitable to sell them off wholesale in bulk.

        • +6

All the sydney stock will be going to the superstores at Macarthur Square and Penrith when stores close down. I heard this from a Manager of a DS store this morning

        • The only ones that are confirmed at the moment I believe are for 16th April which is Cannington, Carousel and Riverton in WA

        • @too_much_boost:

Apparently 1 of Dicksmiths' 13 subsidiaries will continue operating as usual. Some Apple Management services thing.. I originally assumed that they are going to get the bulk of apple related stuff. Including the truckloads of phone cases.

      • The CBD store seems to still have a bit of stuff. Not nearly as barren as some of the pictures I've seen of other stores.

        • The one near Wesley Church on William? I am a little scared to go there due to the fast food hang outs across the road.

        • @DH: Haha yeah that one. It's across the road from the dodgy part of the street, you'll be fine haha.

        • @ilikeradiohead:
          Yeah but it smells too.

None of these at either of the Campbelltown stores. The Campbelltown mall store does have the g700s for $60 though

I got 2 of the mx anywhere mouses (mices? Meece? mice?) for $42 or so each last week due to very low stock. I didn't want to miss them as even at that price they were a bargain. Not a huge fan of the non-replaceable battery though

    • +1

Agreen with you there, even at $42 that's a bargain as the median price at online retailers is around $78-$90 + shipping.

I'm not a fan either but because it holds charge for a while and isn't constantly being recharged day after day like a mobile phone battery. You should expect it to easily maintain decent use for 2-3 years.

By that time we might have a Harvey Norman closing down sale ;)

      • +2

As much as i dislike HN, we need them to keep JBHifi honest now that DSE is gone

  • -1

I need one of these but so lazy to get off my seat to get one. My sushi will be arriving in 1 hour too.

    What to do….

Does anyone know if there is any stock in the sydney CBD store?

    • I'd give them a call if they can be bothered picking up. Being late night shopping if there is anything left, there won't be by the end of the night…

    • First world problems:)

I went to both the CBD stores last week and they had no logitech gaming stuff left. Only DSE generic stuff, which might have been ok if it had warranty but without it i'd probably steer clear

    • I picked up the last Logitech Anywhere 2 mouse last Thursday from the Westfield CBD.

  • Someone buy me one? I'll chip in an extra tenner for you :p

    • me too :)

      • I'll head back after work and grab some if there is any left…. Didn't really think about hoarding it to make it fair for others.

        • thanks, if you do find one happy to buy and give the extra $10 like lolcoaster mentioned.

    • Me too if you are in Melbourne

  • Sad now, bought the MX anywhere 2 from dicksmith last week for $60, thought it was a bargain. :(

  • +1

Logitech G910 Orion Spark mechanical keyboard is $111.98.

    Logitech G402 mouse is $31.98.

    Good luck finding stock.

    • I am pretty sure they had a few of the G402 mouses left at Arndale SA on the weekend

  • I was hoping to find an MX Master but i'd be surprised if they were available anywhere anymore

  • Can't find it in Melbourne, though I didn't try very hard.

  • +3

I'm thinking of collecting all desirable good's like the logitech MX mouses, ect… since I live around a few Dick Smith's that nobody tends to go to as they are too far out west.

Will be happy to hold it for anyone willing to meet up.

    • How far out west? I'll be in Penrith on the weekend. If you can find one of these super cheap MX Masters or MX Anywhere's then I'll give you $10 on top of what you pay for it.

  • Good mouse. Bought in Nowra for $50 about a week ago. Would buy another at this price. It is quite small which some won't like, but definitely the best portable mouse I've owned. I usually stick strictly to mice <$50 though so probably not seen the best of the market.

  • Doing a shopping road trip as far as Richmond so Penrith will be on the list… Will do! :)

    I'll PM you my details

Pielo mate, that is an AMAZING effort.

Thanks for taking the time to post that given the craziness of the past few weeks!

      • So Sydney George st still has some?

        • Might have some, most likely.

The stock list is just for reference. It was based on the stock level at the beginning of the trading day.
Stollen stock will still show on the system but not in store obviously.

        • The stocklist says 14 but from experience don't rely on it too much.
The reporting on stock can be off due to theft, miscount, ect…

But that's a decent number so chances are good! :)

        • @Pielo: thanks. Do I need to ask staff to check the back or something? I didn't see anything in store yesterday.

        • @lolcoaster: lol walked in and saw one staff grab the last one.

        • @lolcoaster: I don't see why they would possibly have stock out the back still, wouldn't they just put it on their empty shelves? Or have they sold all the empty shelves already?

        • +2

@macrocephalic: No idea but I was in the George St store yesterday and there were no more mice on the shelves yet there's apparently 14 MX Anywhere mice in the system as of this morning.

I then went in at 1:45pm today, and saw a staff walk out from the store room with one in his hand. I asked him if he had anymore and he pointed to another staff member behind the counter and said "that guy got the last one".

        • Hhaha I was there at that time and saw this happen - the guy behind the counter added it to his stash under the register..

      • +2

if you could produce something similar for Melbourne, that would be great.

        • Yeah I just rang my local DSE and no one picked up… maybe they haven't already shut it down…

        • @zan5hin: They're too busy hiding all the good stock for themselves.

        • @zan5hin:

Stores are running low on staff (employees are getting new jobs /resigning) and foot-traffic increases during the liquidation process.

Priority goes to in-store customers, then phone calls.

        • @Pielo:

I wanted to buy at DS Roselands but I can't believe it's very low in stock. Can't see it in stock list. Nobody shops at Roselands anyway

        • +1

          @lolcoaster:
I doubt it, Hilco have been so strict about staff hiding stock. They are like bloodhounds if you have hidden something they will find it and most people aren't risking there entitlements for $35 mice. Most of the time they get stolen, people just rip them off the shelves and leave. The store I'm at has had so much theft over the last few weeks.

        • @Gabe:

          You are so right.

Theft in my store has increased by like 10 times compared to before.
People are stealing everything, including the $0.60 Move phone cases…

One of my employees even got verbally assaulted because a man believed he was hidding some of the $10 iPad covers at the back.

      • +1

Nothing in Liverpool at about 3:30 despite having 7 listed. Guy said they don't have any more mice at all.

But thanks for posting. Much appreciated.

  • I got a Logitech G633 from George st store for $111. They had one more near the cashier.

  • damn nice price, i got one for $80 from DS a few weeks back and thought it was a good price at the time :D

  • All gone at Druitt. No DS models left either sadface

  • Glad I got one this morning before this post went up. My local had LOADS of both this and the Master, and then someone had to post a deal about the master (like days after Thursday I might add) and the next day they were all gone. Was holding out for this weeks price drop, ended up having to get the Anywhere instead.

Sometimes Ozbargain can be a real curse, I bet this morning there still would have been half a dozen Masters of no post was put up…

    • +3

Imagine the number of calls we receive, asking for the exact same item. We are talking multiple dozens of calls.

And then you have the customers coming to the store, asking for this exact same product (we know where they saw the deal):

      • Some very rude ones asking for a bigger discount with the following comonly heard sentence: "Give me a better price. What do you have to lose anyway, you will be out of a job soon" followed by a smile.
      • Some greedy ones taking multiple of the same items.
      • Some angry ones because they cannot find any stock after the greedy ones took everything and blaming their time loss on us.
      • @yekul I agree it can be a negative move posting these deals but working on the foundation of what Ozbargain stands for, I believe we shouldn't be scared about posting deals when there is one to be had. :)

        • -1

Yeah don't get me wrong, I agree overall. Just frustrating sometimes :p

On related note, been extra screwed over. It appears my MX Anywhere 2 lags like a mofo when connected to my Surface Pro 4. Fine over wireless, but horrible on bluetooth. Obviously, with the Pro 4 only having one usb port the biggest selling point for me was the bluetooth smart connectivity…

Seems to be a common problem amongst a wide variety of laptops/OS. Obviously plenty out there with working, but definitely a known issue. Seemingly the Master cops a lot less flac for this issue.

        • @Yekul:

This is the mistake I made with the MX Master, I bought that primarily to use with my work laptop which is on Windows 7, turns out the bluetooth smart connection is borked on Windows 7.

I'll try the anywhere 2 on my Windows 8 hybrid and see how it goes. Did you download the logitech software and do a firmware update?

They make great hardware but support and testing needs to be better..

The Master has been good so far, helps if you have relatively large hands. I'd be happy to pay close to RRP from my experiences so far.

If I see one around I'll PM you. :)

        • @Zackyd: You didn't find anymore MX Anywhere mice? ;)

        • @lolcoaster:

I didn't get out of work till now so had no chance to check :'(

But I'll be hitting up the Penrith and Windsor stores in the morning. From memory they had a few Logitech gaming mouses left.

I'll grab the mx anywhere if I see them. :)

        • @Zackyd: No worries. Thanks mate.

      • Hi Pielo, the greedy ones took all the Logitech mouse. Do you know if there's anymore left in other stores? I tried contacting DSs but they never answer. The Roselands store I went to told me to "go call them, I can't check it for you"

  • grabbed 2 of these from bankstown, for mrs and me.

  • Can JBHifi match the dick price or they will refuse straightaway…as I am not able to get this from two dick stores…this will save some time..

    • Highly doubt it. They might probably tell you it is below our cost etc… JB does not have price match policy like officeworks.

      • JB do price match, i am sure for that. last time i bought PS4 controller from JB with price matched to DS.

  • Any Dickies store still open in Brisbane?

  • Been wanting this mouse. Anyone know if there is any stock left in Vic?

  • Slightly off topic, but didn't want to start a new thread about another item from DS that may or not be available. My local still has a few Pebble watches (original and steel) at what price point would i be mad not to jump in. I believe they have a good following on OB, but i am yet to jump on board. they are approx 75 175 respectfully i assume they are the same around OZ - Cheers

    • Good question. I did a general search on Google and to be honest I was surprised that the savings aren't that much more significant. You're looking at about $20-$30 compared to online retailers.

Goes to show the mark up with Dick Smith is massive. End of the day if you were going to get one anyways I'd pull the triggger.

Though if it's an impulse buy and not an urgent purchase I'd let it ride and see what further discounts await.

  • There is one xbox and one ps4 at my local store. The ones for display purposes, hooked up to a screen. What will happen to them?

    • My understanding with the display stock & demo units is that they go back to the manufacturer.

Worth asking the store manager if you can make an offer for them though… Then again, do you really want a console that is constantly run for hours days on end in a barely ventilated display cabinet?

Even the cheapskate in me would avoid a possible ticking time bomb unless it was insanely discounted.

      • Don't they usually have special demo unit firmware? I know Samsung demo phones are a model code of their own that prevent you from flashing a stock ROM on to it (doesn't stop custom ROM though, but those require a bit of work to get the hardware working)

  • Is there still stock around Sydney?

  • Its hard to find stores in stock. Can someone please take a picture of the price tag and maybe the product so I/we can ask other stores for a price match?

Not sure if this works. DS website doesnt have it to show the stores :/

  • +1

    2x G700s @ Wetheril Park $60

  • Penrith store has also been gutted, no more mouses other than a a 3-4 Logitech wireless mini mouses left
    (http://www.dicksmith.com.au/computer-accessories/logitech-wi…)

There was a Logitech G303 gaming left but the packaging was shredded up and looked like it had been ripped open. Eyed one guy hold it and contemplate getting it. (Who cares about the box unless you're gifting it or selling it)

Heaps of Dick Smith batteries and phone cases. Looks like the end is nigh
