Great game, great DLC. I really need to get around to finishing American Nightmare.

one of the only games i've played for the story and had absolutely no idea what happened in the end…. felt like i was watching the architect scene in the martrix reloaded…

I genuinely enjoyed playing the original Alan Wake game but just struggled to finish American Nightmare. Perhaps because it had been at least 5 years between playing it and the main game but American Nightmare felt very repetitive. More so then the main game and I also found the story confusing and uninteresting.

Thanks for posting this OP - it's a shame they don't make add on content free more often once it reaches a few years old.

        • Exactly the same here.

  • thanks for these - Will these work on Xbox One?

      Yes

These two DLC were actually supposed to be free when i preordered the Steelbook of Quantam Break instead it came with Alan Wake: American Nightmare DLC card, but Kudos to the OP for this, this means i'll have hours and hours of more playability :)

Bloody hell, I thought you said Quantum Steak :D Damn I should go eat something..

  • Cheers!

  • Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who didn't enjoy Alan Wake.

    • It didn't click with me…didn't really like the combat mechanisms. Sure, it built suspense but it felt a bit forced and frustrating to me. Others from memory praised it but.

    • Look up some of the reviews on Metacritic. You're certainly not the only one. The word "pretentious" comes up a few times. I haven't played it so I can't really judge.

    • I can genuinely understand why people wouldn't like it. The controls were quite clunky and the game play could be repetitive at times.
Yet, the story, the backing soundtrack and the characterisation really struck with me, left quite a lasting impression. I've played through it twice, almost considering finding a second hand disk and playing the dlc on my xbone now.

  • Thanks a ton OP!!! Really appreciate it.

  • thanks OP, hopefully Alan Wake will be on GWG in the near future.

    • That's the only thing stopping me buying it, I suspect this will be the case. :)

      • +1

hey it's free.. I've added them to my account so when it's either on GWG for free, OR I dig through all my XBOX 360 discs and find it and run it on my XB1, then I'll have the DLC already.

        • Great minds…

    • has it been on GWG before? Is there a list of what has been somewhere?

      • no, hasnt been on GWG (is free with Quantum Break though), google will find lots of sites where full list of GWG 'freebies'

        • Given the temporal proximity to the release of QB, and the scuttlebutt that the original might get an XB1 remaster in the near future, I'm cautiously optimistic we might see it on GWG this year! ;)

        • @StewBalls:

I just found I'd bought it from JB a few months ago because it was only a couple of bucks. Never actually played it

  • Great thanks! Got the game sitting in my pile of shame, give me an excuse to play it :)

  • Some episodes are free as well. Is it an episodic game?
Never got the chance to play it

If it's the episodes you're referring on the Marketplace, then it's the live action mini movie which i believe is a prequel or sequel to the main game. It was split up in episodes. I've never seen it but I'm sure somebody correct me if I am wrong? Found the full movie here for anyone interested:

      • thanks for the info and link

My favourite Xbox 360 title…I loved it to bits. Really pity they dropped the sequel for Quantum Broken.

  • I don't suppose this would work if you have the game installed but no longer had the original disk?
