    Traditional meat?

    So 34.8% horse meat, right?

    • Minimum standard is 25% actual meat, most are around 30% to account for variation.
But that 30% 'meat' isn't from just one animal or species, it contains a blend of buffalo, camel, cattle, deer, goat, rabbit, kangaroo or sheep.

The other 70% is water, vegetable protein, fat, and other fillers.

      Yum yum…

  • It makes me hungry when I was posting it… Yum Yum!

  • sargeants @ woolies is half price too for $3.82. chicken/meat/meat & cheese/curry meat

I prefer Sargents over Four N Twenty, but I now buy the Aldi cheap 6 packs. Everyday price and taste decent. Also, Herbert Adams are great if you're willing to spend a bit more.

I had sargents and found them foul… Not to my liking at all, but 4 n 20 cheese ones are pretty good.

Several pies in the last two packs of Four 'n Twenty pies I've eaten had big gobs of fat as well as gristle and bone in them, not to mention the filling tasted like a watery puree. Never buying them again.

Sargents any day over Four 'n Twenty.

      it's called 'flavour'…

    • You just bought a meat pie, mate. Enjoy your dog food.

  • I cant think of a worse pie than four n twenty.
Anyone that thinks these are good doesnt know what real food is.

They are delicious !!! Oi !!!

    • They were alot better in the past… As with all things over time they wreck them. Herbert Adams are pretty goodvthough.

The generic pies ie your Homebrand/Savings/Black&Gold types are far worse. You take your life in your own hands when you eat them. I went through a customer complaints folder for a pie company one day and I was in tears from laughing so hard. The stories of people spraying out both ends & ending up in hospital. Sure you could tell a heap of claims were from dodgy bogans who'd watched ACA, usually the "I found metal/plastic in my pie" types. My personal favourites were the "chicken & veg" pie that was full of chook feathers, photos supplied. Also the 70+ yo bloke who pre-heated the oven, placed the pie in and sat down and waited for his lunch. When it was cooked he sat down with his cup of tea, puts sauce on the pie and cuts into it to find it was just a pastry shell - no filling at all. You could imagine the disappointment.

      • Haha!

Where did you find the complaints book?

Officially-approved torture food in 13 countries. Almost eclipsing Vegemite.

  • Anyone know if you can buy frozen villi pies in Melbourne anywhere? Delicious!

    Sargeants Angus Chunky Beef .. Mmmmmm .. $5 at Coles regularly .. :-) .. !!

    • Yep, thats a quality dogs eye.

  • Gross

  • Try the 4n20 Angus Beef and Pepper when they're on special. Whatever you do don't accidentally grab the wrong pack and get the beef and cheese unless you'r partial to cheese covered dogfood of course.
