Star Wars The Force Awakens Blu-Ray/DVD ($23 / $15) @ JB Hi-Fi [McArthur Central, BNE]

590

Hi guys, just a heads up. Was having lunch at McArthur Central here in Brissie and saw that JB HiFi are selling The Force Awakens ahead of its scheduled launch on Wednesday too.

Bluray for $23, DVD for $14.90.

JB HiFi has it for preorder at $29.98, so might be better to hold off until you can go to a store.

Might be nationwide.

*Updated with photo of receipt if you want to try and price-match :)

      cool story bro

you must feel so good - and important to boot!!!

HEY EVERYONE - NEO "ACQUIRED" THIS MOVIE A WEEK AGO!!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! EVERYONE BASK IN GLORY OF THE COMMENT THAT IS FROM THE ONE THEY CALL NEO.

        • You can also "Acquire" it for $20 on google play/itunes if you want to save a trip to the store and not be a pirate, maybe cheaper with discount itunes cards/GP credit.

    • +2

I wonder how many of the people negging you also advocate huge ISP download quotas & Usenet subscriptions???

You could pretty much guarantee those hypocrites aren't just downloading Linux nightlies… :P

save your money and just watch A New Hope.
    Much better storyline and characters.

    • +16

      Or better yet, watch both.

      With Empire and Jedi inbetween.

    • +6

      Man you're so cool

      • -2

He's right though. Crazy similar. It's basically a remake

        • +4

I have a feeling we'll hear the same complaints for Rogue One - e.g. "They've gone and put another Death Star in it! When will they learn!"

        • +2

They restored audiences' faith in Star Wars and made us love Rey, Finn and Poe. I wish it was more original too, but I'd call that a win. Here's hoping Ep VIII especially does something weird/new…

        • @MissKitty:
I really like Rey and Poe but I can't stand Finn. I hope the next movie is more orginal

        • @muncan: I'm actually pretty jazzed about the prospect of Rogue One, I think it's got great potential as a character driven addition of story depth to the SW universe. I genuinely don't think it will be subject to the same comparisons - fair or unfair - that the more mainstream pre/sequels have attracted. Despite being set in the same universe, I suspect they'll be very different genres in their own right.

Whilst I didn't outright dislike TFA, I can't honestly say I liked it either…it was kinda meh in a lot of respects storytelling-wise, some of it downright cringeworthy TBH!

        • @muncan:

you have two people in your avatar. you better get that checked.

          @MissKitty:

          Fanboy ehh ??

    • +1

Is it a much better storyline - I'd say they were fairly similar!

    • +1

Just watch Episodes 1 and 2 first. Then every movie after that will seem brilliant in comparison.

    • save your money and just watch A New Hope.

Or watch neither and do something useful* with your time

  • $29.98 in JB Rundle Mall

    • Will update with photo of receipt so they price match ;)

      • Scans as $29.98 at Broadway (NSW). Maybe tomorrow?

    • JB Rundle Mall

The JB listed in this deal (MacArthur, brisbane) is about 25m from the entrance to BigW, in the same building. Perhaps they only did it to match BigW's price, other JBs may not have the same price if there is no price competition nearby.

    • +1

JB Rundle Mall price matched Big W for me at lunch today (12/4). Didn't even have to mention the price.

A bit off topic, but watching the new trailer rogue one…
how does one begin to explain the era of which this takes place, and why no light sabers, and and… none of the original actors!?

    • +5

Rogue One takes place just before A New Hope. It's about the Rebels that steal the Death Star plans. There shouldn't be any jedis or lightsabers, although they say Darth Vader has a role in it.

      • -3

So its like a side story, a story about the hardship against the empire without Jedi's help ? Why though, theres so many stories to make from then. They should finish off the main star wars ennealogy (9 series) first??

        • +1

Main sequence and one-off films on alternate years. Both gives them more time to film/CGI and more opportunities for pocket dipping.

    • +5
      • Shouldn't it be called Rogue 3.5 then?

        • +1

Rogue One - The story of how the Rebels got the plans of the Death Star.
Rogue Two - The story of Manny Bothans and his sacrifice to get the plans of the second Death Star.
Rogue Three - The 30-second exposition in Force Awakens where the Rebels/Resistance successfully guess the weakness of Death Star 3/Starkiller Base.

  • Did anyone else feel like the ending was too much like a home and away/neighbours season ending ''cliffhanger'? Plus, was chewie trying to be an a..hole to rey by landing at the bottom of the hill? Couldn't he have parked on the big flat section near where Luke was standing so she didn't have to climb a million steps?

    • Maybe he couldn't park there because Luke was standing there

      • It was a bloody big island though, Luke was standing near the edge, plenty of room for the falcoon.
Wonder if rey is still holding the lightsaber? And what did Luke eat for all those years? Snacking on low flying seagulls?

  • Not nationwide, still $29.98 in Geelong. I did get them to price match Big W though (I had a gift card to use).

  • Hey Nachotroncoso, was it advertised at that price? or did it just scan at that price? or Did you price match with Big W? Went to my local store and it was normal price.

    • Hi, it scanned at that price and it was advertised at that price. It had a green sticker with $23 on it stuck on top of the regular white one for $29

      • cheers bud, thanks for the reply

  • Not sure about the Big W price and this JB one, but it's $25 at Target.

  • Make sure you use the receipt. It was showing 29 on the system. I showed them the receipt and worked.

  • Wasn't $23 at my JB in VIC, but they price matched Big W without any issue.

  • $29 in my JB but I asked them to match Big W and they did

  • +1

go to iTunes China store, it is ¥25,about $5.

    • How would you pay?

      • visa or master card. if you have an uni-pay card or alipay account, that would be better.

  • Waiting for it to be on Netflix, might watch it then.

    • Maybe the Netflix release will be in HDR, with a darker Dark side and lighter Light side?

    • +1

      You'll be waiting forever.

  • My local JB would not price match Big W as there isn't one around close enough. Got it for $25 at Target instead.

    • Didn't you try to show them the receipt I uploaded?

      • +1

For two bucks I CBF arguing with some young twerp. He could've made it a pleasant experience, or not. I don't blame him, he's just following instructions.

        • That's a very healthy attitude.

  • Wish they released it in 3D too.

    • Sadly they want people to double dip as the 3D bluray is rumoured for Xmas. Disney has held off before with some of their 3D releases. It sucks.

  • +1

If you want the DVD, I would suggest woolies as their new catalogue has it for $20, but with $10 in woolies cash
