  • Ordered! Thanks.

  • Can this be opened up to put in a laptop?

    • +3

      Yes, it can.

      • Can it the HDD then be put back into the case and used externally later on?

(Some cases have to be broken to get access to the HDD. This prevents you from reusing the case with the HDD in future, if you decide to change back to an external drive).

      • Thanks ordered one!

  • +1

Yeah im also interested to know if it can open to put in ps4 any1 know

    • It should be compatible with a PS4

      • No, it needs to be 9.5mm or shorter. This is 12.1mm.

You could use it to backup your ps4 in the event of a hdd failure

        • Nah, 12mm is the thickness of the outer case, of course one would expect the internal drive to be thinner. Given the current development of hard disk, it's rather unusual to have 12mm 1tb disk retail at this price point, even 2tb are in 9mm size now

        • @lgacb08:

          my bad!

    • +1

Unless you know you won't fill it, don't even bother with a 1TB drive

    • +1

The Seagate Backup Plus Slim is the one you want to put in your PS4.

  • Office works price match?

    • +2

      Why? Isn't $40.- cheap enough?

      • +19

it's called being a proper ozbargainer.

    • You should have no problems price matching this hard drive with Officeworks. This will bring you down to $38.

  • no stock in Balcatta :(

    • Price match with an Office Works store that has this hard drive in stock. You will be able to save yourself another $2 aswell

      • +3

when officeworks guy check online and stated out of stock in WA, they won't price match or they will add in 11 dollars shipping fee

  • i think NSW is out of stock.

    • Price match with an Office Works store that has this hard drive in stock.

      • +1

Would they price match an out of stock item though?

        • They shouldn't.

        • +1

          @sween64: don't tell them

  • Is this the cheapest an HDD from Seagate or any 1TB HDD has been?

  • Ordered, anyone know how many rpm it is?

  • How much is shipping?

    • +1

      $10.91 for NSW + $1.02 Handling Fee.

    • +1

      $12 in Vic

  • +1

How is Seagate these days? They used to have the highest rate of hdd failures a few years ago…

    • In my experience they have been terrible, but just use this for movies or music

  • Thanks OP needed an external HDD for extra XB1 storage space

  • No stock left in NSW onine.

    • lol ozbargained.

  • +1

Ordered pickup from Adelaide city. No stock at North Plympton.

  • +3

just thought i would read the terms of service since i'm supposed to "adhere to them unconditionally".

    guess what?

    This page does not exist.

i guess my soul is now theirs, or something like that.

  • Excellent. Grabbed one in VIC online store.

  • +7

I'd be surprised if it's intentional, the email advertising the special lists it as a bundled item with a Netgear D6300 for $195.

I wouldn't hold your breath on orders being honoured.

  • seems to be out in VIC

  • +1

Yes, you have to purchase with Netgear D6300 to get Seagate for $40. ( bundle price $195 )

Please see my comment here posted 5 hours ago.

    Thanks

    Have a good one .

    • Oh dear, somebody at MSY dun (profanity) up!

theearth, been a while mate. Good to see you!

Hey guys here's an Idea !!! ( if we all lived in a perfect world i guess )
This idea clearly wont work because it assumes there is no greedy guts / fat ass gimp geek showing off how many drives they can buy in an hour, (no its not me !)
But anyway be so cool if we could some how coordinate together to use this stock as actual "Reference Stock" so that we could all get one price matching the morning !

Insert "I have a dream" speech here ….]

If we all didn't rush to buy the last drives that are left behind instead of looking after the Oz bargainers.

Do i need to start singing " oh what a wonderful world here ! Come on ppl..

    • +1

Won't work in real life…there'll always be that ONE guy/girl and also how to coordinate people not from ozbargain?? But dreams are nice

  • I hope msy keep it on their page till tomorrow so i can use it as a Reference to get one from office works. Even if they charge 11 bucks for shipping etc, still makes it cheaper

  • +2

Sent my dad to price match at OW, successfully bought 2 at $38 each.

  • Can be disassembled into a laptop 2.5" hard'disk? Just need one.
Just mentioned by OP——considering most hard drives at these capacities cost around $70-$80

  • Will office works still price match, considering it's out of stock at MSY?

    • No out of stock price match.

Im at OW at the moment.

      Msy are closed till 10:30am.

The ow staff member I dealt with said that they can price match if there is an expected restock date.

    • Our price checkers guarantee that we bring you the lowest prices possible every day, and that's a promise. However, if you happen to find a cheaper advertised price on an identical stocked item that's in stock with our competitor - even if it's on sale, we will not only match it, we'll beat it by 5%.

This is what office work price match says. :(

  • is there any locations this is still in stock to use for showing OW?

  • Darn, Don't think there are any location to show office works MSY has stock.

  • how are people price matching with ow if the hard drive is out of stock?

  • Guys, I just went to the Officeworks at Pitt St, Sydney. The staff checked their stock and told me that they do not have any 1TB Backup Plus in stock across all Sydney Stores.

I'm not sure if it is just he wants to deny an ozbargainer or not. He also mentioned that the pricematched product has to be in stock.

No luck for today I guess. -_-

    • Were you wearing your I'm a Professional badge?

      • +1

        I'm innocent.

    • +1

that is the way their price match works.

    • +1

Was he saying MSY has no stock or Officeworks has no stock?

OW definitely has stock, from their website.

      • He said all Sydney Officeworks have no stock.

Well, it seems like he caught me ozbargaining them.

        • +1

Not necessarily, their website is often wrong.

        • +1

@greenpossum: that would be pretty dramatic though. They were mostly green, for them all to have zero stock… I highly doubt it.

  • i would be surprised if OW match such a low price..

    • +1

      They sure did!

  • +1

Product is now removed from the MSY website by the looks of it.

  • +4

    lbft & theearth called it.

    email from MSY:

Please note the special price $40 for Seagate Backup Plus 1TB Silver is a bundle price only when you purchase a Netgear modem D6300 ($155) together. If you want to get the HDD(s) only without the modem, the price of them will be $85. If you still want the HDD by itself /themselves for $85 each, please confirm the order and we will give you the order number.

I replied back telling them to cancel the order. :(

  • They cancelled my order as well

  • Everyone had their order cancelled from MSY?

    • I received one email saying it was cancelled, then another saying it is ready for pickup so I just contacted them and are waiting on confirmation. I left feedback after it was cancelled so not sure if that helped….we'll soon find out!

      • Please let us know how you go. I also got a cancellation email and left some feedback but no reply yet.

        • +2

Just received a follow-up email - they indicated that they discussed it with HQ and will be honoring 1 x HDD (I had ordered 2). Good compromise I suppose, though I hope you guys have some luck too!

        • @apichy27:

Can you cut and paste the email you received from MSY about honouring part of your order?

  • +2

I wonder what's stopping someone ordering both items then returning the router later?

    • Expect they would take the $45 difference off the refund to reflect the full price…

      Thats usually how its done.
