  • Seems around about the going price

The i5 bundle is about $100 cheaper then the prices for each part on static ice.

Might be true for exact model part but if you check the deals on OB you can find the same if not better parts (6700K, 32GB RAM) for less

So what you're saying is that this deal is just as good as other successful deals on OzBargain?

        • @tantryl: Whoah, is this the same tantryl who posted at AtomicMPC forums? I haven't visited there in years.

This is tempting. My 2500k is hanging in there, but it really struggles under video and photo editing. One of these bundles, plus a nice new quite case and a new GPU in a month or two time… hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    • I sourced similar components about a month ago with only the processor a little different (6500 instead of 6600K) and it cost me around $550. I think this is reasonable given the processor is unlocked and much better than 6500. MOBO and RAM were the same as this deal.

    Any pcgc reps on here?

Any chance of non K CPU bundle deals?

    • +3

Good call, I am more interested in non k models with cheaper boards.

        I'd be in for i5 6600 + Gigabyte B150M-D3H Socket LGA1151 mATX Motherboard - DDR4 + Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Black

  • +1

I'd be interested if they gave you a choice of form factor for the board. I'm going to upgrade soon but want to go with Micro ATX to build a compact gaming rig

  • Super tempted to get the Xeon … Argggghhh… Don't plan to overclock and the included HSF would suffice.. Can't find many reviews comparing it to i7 though.

  • What makes a good motherboard? Apart from having all the I/O ports/PCI-E slots/SLI or Crossfire support, is there anything else I should pay attention to when choosing motherboards?

The reason I ask is because this $599 deal is the same as the previously expired deal except for the different motherboard, but even so, the motherboards seem similar enough?

    • What makes a good motherboard?

The sick RGB LEDs, of course.

But seriously, you've accounted for all the important features there. These days, SLI, OC ability, high RAM frequency, M.2 (maybe U.2) ports, maybe USB type-C and Thunderbolt support are the highest end features. Everything else is pretty much marketing.

    • Chipset: H170 for non overclocking Z for overclocking.
      Features:
      Sata ports
      Usb3 front panel socket
      All Japanese capacitors
Nichicon gold for the audio device
      Onboard sound
      "Smart" lan
      M2 slots
      Pwm fan ports

      Brand:
      Gigabyte is extremely reliable.
Asus not doing as well in this area ever since manufacturing plant move to China
      Msi - not sure

      Just consider these things

  • Does anyone know if any good deals on GPUs? R9 390x, R9 fury, GTX 980 or the ti?

On the market for a new gaming setup, at the moment im only running 2560x1440 and probably wont upgrade to a 4k monitor for a while.

Only really play a few games, Ark, BF4, GTA etc

    any help is appreciated!

New GPUs soon-ish (couple of months, probably a few by the time they hit the shelves), so look out for upcoming clearances. If you can't wait, I guess just try to make do with the prices we've got.

    • I recommend getting the 980/ti because you'll get free division for many brands (gigabyte, asus, zotac, evga, Galax, gain ward, and more)
