3 year guarantee…. haha. Great product and price though

      Not through Masters anyway

ACL makes it the retailers problem in the first instance.

        • Don't you know that Master's is going out of business? Not retailer's problem anymore when they don't exist.

          @twocsies:

          …but until that happens…

        • @Steptoe: "This process will take several months and the business will continue to trade normally through this period. "

They have been winding down for three months already. How many more months do you think "several months" will last?

Edit: Yes, I agree that while they are open, the retailer is responsible for claims. Just making the point that odds of a "three year warranty" in offered by Triton is getting aided by the retailer low (buyer to retain the name?) to not at all (store 100% gone for good within 12 months). And that was the parent comment of our posts.

      • +1

I doubt a 30 day warranty for a battery powered tool is what any average customer would find reasonable.

    Looks good

  • IN-STORE ONLY
This product is only available in Masters stores. Please call your nearest store to check if its in stock.

Why no online stock list. "Come off it, it ain't 1991!"

    • Hi Steptoe, because of high demand we are not selling this one online, we recommend getting into your local store as early as possible to secure yourself one of these great kits.

      • +1

But let us check if it's in stock online.

        • -5

this is clickbait. they probably have only a few in a few different stores, they are hoping people will go in store looking for them even without stock in teh hopes people will end up just buying other stuff while they are there…

        • +2

@nosdan: we have a couple of hundred at our store

        • @nosdan: The other Triton sales all had at least 20 kits at each store…

that rings a BELL, Alexander Graham.

    • Everton park has a few dozen and they let me buy one over the phone. Credit card payment, pick up tomorrow.

  • Whats the battery life like?

How long does it take to charge?

    • +2

It's power level is over 9000

    • +4

A true ozbargainer would grab it for $49 and find out all the answers after that.

      • +1

No, a true Ozbargainer will wait for the cheaper Bunnings one to be offered and buy that instead :-)

        • +2

I wish they would do it with the Ryobi range, haven't yet though!

        • +2

It won't be - just giving you the heads up (Bunnings team member)

          Do what, paint it orange?

          haven't yet though!

It's a house brand, they don't have to discount it.

    • +1

      2.0Ah should take ~1:20*

Assuming the same 60min charger as sold separately. 60min gives 1.5Ah charge, so (2/1.5)60=80min

  • +7

I purchased this multi tool a couple of months ago, it's really crap. I tried cutting a small piece (architraves) of wood and it literally blunted the cutter and started burning.

Also it's really loud compared to others.

    • +2

The attachments that come with power tools aren't usually top-quality. Maybe it'll do better with a higher-quality attachment.

      • +3

Yeah got a new attachment then the whole thing sparked up and died.

        • +1

Did you keep running the tool with a blunt cutter? Since you said it started burning, it sounds like the motor was overloaded which could damage the insulation on the windings. That could certainly lead to burnout. They really should have added a thermal fuse if that was the case.

        • +1

          INTERESTING.
          What price did you pay?

and did you take it back for replacement or refund?

        • @eug:
Yeah it got warm, but it was still working. Changed the attachment out (it was then cold) and got about an extra 10mins if that out of it.

        • I had the same result as Frazel with another no name brand of multi tool… it was rubbish and suitable for no purpose other than a paper weight. Took it back and they baulked at a refund, ….for a while :-).

      • Wanna know if it was a Triton attachment u replaced it with? All the other brand won't fit this.

        • Thats a very interesting point, combined with the fact that only comes with one battery i will gracefully pass this deal

        • -1

@siuol: so you are saying other reciprocating blades wont fit on this? I thought they are all standard.

        • @naira:

Was referring to the oscillating tool.

Still i think even a cheap ozito corded will be better than most of the cordless one.

        • @naira:

ah nevermind. i read further down regarding bunnings carrying other universal attachment. There were only the other dremel & bosch attachments available at Masters and so none fitted except for the triton ones. The only tricky thing is that you would be limited to the quick release ones. I was actually refering to the multi tool attachment. I havent touched or looked into the reciprocal saw yet. At $50 is a steal even if u succeed in finishing a project with it. Even the battery cost more than this pack.

        • +3

          The story…

Im doing loads of renovations at home at the moment and I asked the misses to pick me up some stuff from masters on her way home. She saw the multitool on special at Masters North Lakes (QLD) and she new I always wanted one. I'm not sure how much she paid.

So to lay the new tiles I had to cut a bit off the door frames where it meets the floor (architraves) which is made out of just standard chip board. The first thing I noticed was it was really loud, a lot louder than other multi tools I have used. Anyway it struggled but I got a couple done, and I noticed the blade started to burn.

So I went up to bunnings and grabbed a universal attachment, it was about $16. It wasnt exactly 'universal' at it didnt fit. So I bent one of the arms (for the lack of a better term) on the attachment to make it fit and it fitted pretty well.

Anyway, 2 more architraves and it started to spark and then died.

I didnt take it back because the missues lost the reciept, but im considering purchasing this one and then taking the faulty one back..

On side note I was building a deck and had about 1900 screws to predrill and then screw. I used this Wesco

          https://www.masters.com.au/product/100488710/wesco-810w-impa…

I got 7 screws in and it started to spark. Masters told me they will only replace it twice then they will give me my money back. They said they dont even return it because the postage is higher than the cost of the product. I swapped it for the BOSCH and 1900 screws later it still going strong.

I literally just left a masters store 30 min ago in WA, they had these everywhere however they were $199.

Edit: Staff probably didn't put up pricing yet. 100 staff in there, 5 customers. Still cant find the time to update correct pricing.

    • Price would have just changed when u left

    • +1

I've always found that at Masters, shit ton of staff doing very little as they wait for Bunnings size crowds that arent coming.

      • +11

Typical Australian consumer here. complains about too many staff in one sentence and will then complain about too little staff in the next.

      • Masters is an American business model (one of the major reasons it is struggling). Hence the high staff to customer ratio.

Masters is an American business model (one of the major reasons it is struggling) A FAIL. Hence the high staff to customer ratio.

  • Does anyone has any problems in finding the skin for the ' quick release' multi tools? There many many skins on ebay but not the 'quick release' type.

  • +2

Online chat said they have more than 100s @ Bayswater WA.

    • +1

I can confirm that. I just bought one.

  • But will it cut branches

    • +17

Dunno about this tool, but Woolworths Ltd certainly will.

  • +1

Dropped by Braybrook Store. There are ca. 100 on display.

  • +1

C'mon Bunnings, beat it with a better brand!

    • Then you may buy 2. One of each.

    • +3

Poor Triton, how far you have fallen! An Australian success story, with almost half a million Triton workbenches sold worldwide, and 10% of households in Australia owning a Triton. Now the people are just looking for "a better brand". http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/australia_innovates/?behavio…

    • Your move bunnings. Because i dont want to drive an hour to chullora and then it's all gone.

      • +2

According to the latest correspondence from the Bunnings gods, Bunnings will not be offering anything to compete with the Masters deal - just a heads up (Bunnings team member)

      • Your move bunnings

        LOL WOT?

It's your choice whether you move or not.

Why would Bunnings bother to do a deal to match this?

  • What's the purchase limit?

    • No bulk purchases, at store managers descretion

  • +2

    Two pallets worth at chullora.

  • -2

The real Question is - How universal is the 1 x 2.0Ah Li-Ion Battery & Charger?

The promo reads -One battery fuels all 18V XTECH cordless tools, giving instant power for multi-discipline projects

There are a multitude of single interchangeable battery operated tools, Bunnings own brand, R…., and even Aldi have their own brand with this tech.

It would be good if the charger/battery fitted more than one brand as the purchase price of a charger and or battery is way more than the sum of 3 tools.

    • +2

Dreaming mate, its referring to other triton cordless products. Which at best on par with ozito

    • XTECH is Triton's name for the batteries.

Supposedly there are only a few different brands with the same batteries, generally only occurring when both are owned by the same company.

For example, craftsman and black and decker, https://www.reddit.com/r/Tools/comments/368oet/are_there_any…

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/207 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/72241 Thanks, I was really being facetious and failed lol. These batteries are 18v, as told by the staff at masters when I purchased one over the phone, and most of the other multi tool batteries are different sizes or voltage. Very much like apple cables and all others.

As an interest, the helpful store staff who assisted me over the phone had been checking the ' jolt/drop price' all day. Once dropped in the afternoon purchased 3 for her family and suggest I consider doing this as there was intense demand from the first tv add.

The description of item did not mention any blades or tools. If I could be sure there were sets I would have purchased 2 for back up tools. Did this 18 months ago when Coles were clearing their mult tool unit for $19-00.
      Thanks op for heads up.

  • Tingalpa Qld have a few dozens.

  • about 10 left in williams landing, vic

  • Will check local store tomorrow

  • Price is definitely good , not sure how good these one are but my experience with cheap tools tells always buy good quality tools , not worth spending too much time with shit tools and job comes out shabby as well

  • +2

At least 100 left at Upper Coomera Store. Thought I better race in and grab 1, didn't really need to think I was the only customer in the entire store :( - going to miss them.

  • This deal is very tempting, but with only one 18V battery per kit, and that being only 2AH it's probably going to die very quickly with using either the multitool or reciprocating saw, both of which chew through juice, then having to wait up to and more than an hour to recharge is just a deal breaker for me. I suppose you could buy two boxes, but then it's getting into probably buying a better brand territory and putting your money into something with more longevity and that's also more widely known. That's probably the thing with these two tools, as they have fairly specific uses, both of which are normally power hogs, ideally you'd need a couple of 2 AH batts minimum IMO. Having said that, if you already had other Triton batts it might not be that bad of a deal.

Also, not trying to crap on Triton, I know very little about the brand other than it's currently owned by UK tool firm, I think, but the battery problem is pretty universal for any tools like these. IMO of course..

  • Anyone know if there is stock at the Adelaide store?

    • You'll be lucky to find any tomorrow - I was there tonight.

Some people were buying upto 4 of them at a time, this is completely unnecessary. At this price they should have bought the entire pallet.

      • Rang this morning, they just sold out.

  • +1

    GOOD price

  • Does the saw come with any blades?

Can any body recommend suitable (preferably cheap) blades ?

    • +1

Since replacement blades cost about $20, its better economically to just buy more of these kits. You get 2x blades in them.

  • Just came back from masters in bibra lake (wa), they have about 150 left, they are right in front of the main entrance. They are selling fast!

  • +1

    Keep this up masters!

  • +1

What to do with 2 multitools? Bought this and the previous hammer drill/multitool combo. At least now I've got a spare battery for my hammer drill.

  • can not seem to find the manual for the Reciprocating Saw anywhere, it is listed under drills on tritons website but the product page does not come up.

    Is this an older model?

  • +1

All sold out in Adelaide. Rang this morning and last one had just sold. Pitty, was going to be more first visit to Masters. Bit upset as earlier someone said people were buying 4 at a time.

  • Almost none (about 4) left at Robina QLD. Reckon they will run out in a few mins.
Heaps of people asking staff where they are and walking around with them.

  • Many left in Penrith, NSW (Sat morning), but selling VERY fast. Bought and checked both tools, work very nicely. Not sure about long time reliability, but $49, specially that I am not a tradesman, I am not complaining. BTW, a single 2.0Ah Triton battery is $75.
    https://www.masters.com.au/product/101549908/triton-18v-xt-2…

    • +3

So best value to buy a second kit rather than a battery alone.

      • Good call.

  • +1

    Heaps at Everton hills qld.

  • Baldivis would probably be sold out by now … though staff said maybe another pallet out the back. Best to call first I would think.

    • A lot at Bayswater

  • Got the last deal of pack of 3 wesco power tools, had to return as the sander burned out after an hour moderate use. Hoping this is better quality. Only buying this cos I have immediate use to check the quality of this… If bad, back it goes…!

  • Just visited masters in keysborough VIC, told me it's sold out statewide

    • statewide.. bugger was just about to go for a drive to Box Hill..
