    NOT BENSON APPROVED!!!

    remove that from description.

    • Settle down mate, I mistook this cable for another USB type C cable I recently purchased.

But with that being said, he did approve the braided version of this cable, so one could only assume they are very similar if not identical in quality.

      • thanks for removing from the description. I have removed my neg vote.

not sure why my comment was negged when i was merely correcting incorrect and misleading information in the post.

so one could only assume they are very similar if not identical in quality.

one could assume, but that assumption could be completely wrong. cables coming from the same manufacturers have been proven to be different and non-compliant.

        best not to assume.

      • Wait, I thought it was the other way around? That the braided cable was not approved.. Am I mistaken?

        • the braided cables are approved. initially they were marked down due to incorrect labeling/advertising, but that was rectified.

So what's the verdict. Are they any good?

    • -1

Going by reviews for their braided cables and other products, I don't see why these wouldn't be on the same level of quality.

  • -6

I would personally stay away from this.

    • +1

      Why?

    • Do all the 1's and 0's get to the other end?
      Or just the 0's?

      • +1

Yes they all make it to the other end, then the device catches fire and you lose them all.

      Now you being xtremeVicky.

  • Everyone should just chill out.

I bought this cable the last time it was offered on Banggood.

I've also been using it with my Pixel C without any problems whatsoever. Both with a connection to a PC via a USB 3 port and via a USB charger.

    • My experience is the same as Rambler's.

My cable arrived last week from a previous deal. So far, no problems, although I have mainly been using it with a 5W charging brick.

The risk isn't that you'll fry your phone, but that you could fry your power source. If the cable doesn't signal to the phone that it might not be connected to an adequate power supply, the phone will try to pull 3A from your charger brick, laptop usb port etc and potentially fry that (that's how Benson fried his laptop usb port). My experiments to date with this cable indicate that it is behaving. However, I haven't been confident enough to leave it connected to a 1A or 0.5A power supply for any length of time to see if the current drawn is stable.

      • I have been drawing 1A overnight from a USB power brick and have had no issues with it.
