    Hi Ozbargainer,

This is a courtesy email to explain what is happening with your recent JB HIFI order/s JB-GOT-OZBARGAINED-0.

Your order contained the Samsung 10kg Top Load Washer (Sku: 770797) that unfortunately was incorrectly priced at $148 on our website for a few hours this evening. The correct price for this item should have been $998. I would like to sincerely apologise for the disappointment and any inconvenience caused to you by this news. As a gesture of goodwill, I will be sending you a $10 JB HIFI Digital Gift Card that you may use towards your next JB HIFI purchase either in-store or online. This digital gift card will be emailed out to you tomorrow.

Please allow 2-3 days for the refund to appear on your transaction history. In the event that you used a gift voucher to pay for your order, a replacement e-gift card will be issued to you via email with 2 business days.

Yay, got the $10 gift voucher.
Paid to be a loner on a Tuesday night browsing Ozbargain.

I'll start the whining, whinging, deluded commentary.

"This is <profanity>. They advertised a price and they have to abide by it. It's a contract. They're breaking the law. I'm going to complain to the Ombudsman. I reckon everybody on Ozbargain should boycott JB Hi-Fi because of their cheating. It's fraud. My mate said they have to give me the washing machine or else they can be fined by The Department of Fair Trading. Only a $10 voucher!!! This is total <profanity>. I am never going to buy from them again, well I've never bought from them in the first place but that's probably because I could sense they would pull a stunt like this. It's un-australian. I've started a petition on change.org, can every one sign it please. That will force them to give us what is legally our. Hey, I reckon we should all social media and bombard the cheaters. I'm going to post on Facebook about what a bunch of liars they are. Like, you go into their store and they just ignore you because they think they are better than you. I was getting this for my Nan. She's 92 and her husband died in the war - well, in a fishing accident while the war was on. How is she going to wash her clothes? Just wait till A Current Affair and Today/Tonight get on to this. Jb Hifi will be shitting their pants. I reckon the CEO will have to resign. Ha, we'll show him. They should give us $100 vouchers. stuff em. Their products are shit anyway. My mate bought a CD there and 3 years later he couldn't play cause it was scratched. It crap business moves like this that are causing stores to close. it's what happened to Dick Smith, Enron and Telecom."

      Better Call Saul!

      • +10

        was that 1261 or 1216?

    • +4

      this was satisfying. 10/10

    • +11

I reckon acknowledgement of my order via an email is proof of the start of the processing the order. plus, they didn't even let me have the opportunity to buy the clothes dryer at the correct price!! So they are breaking the law of the Victorian Consumer Affairs. The Business should honour this deal because it would win back the faith of the community. It would actually benefit them to supply us our microwave ovens- which we paid for. The price didn't seem low to me and how am I supposed to contact the store at 10pm at night? it's closed!!! They are the ones who are running the business! They are meant to be professionals at what they do. So incompetent . How many times have they made errors previously!!! I bet if they make a mistake by making the price too high then they wouldn't withdraw the product from sale. Don't they want the sales? idiots. it's not our fault that they stuffed up but we are having to suffer because of it.

JB Hi-Fi? More like JB Hi-Lie. tricking us with this bait and switch. It goes against Australian Consumer Legislation. I'm going to see a lawyer tomorrow and get him to sort it out. I reckon if he writes a letter of demand they'll have to give us our washing machines. Bastards, at least they can refund me the $300 for all the special top loader detergent I went out and bought. What I am going to do with that? money-down-the-drain. You know most of their stuff comes from China, where they force kids to work 18 hours a day with out breaks?! A bloke at the pub was telling me about his mate who saw a show on TV about it. Why aren't they supporting Australian industries? Are they even an Australian company?!?!? probably not. Probably taking the profits (the money we give them!!) overseas. If they worked with Australian firms then we wouldn't have seen the demise of manufacturing!! looked at what happened to the Australian Mobile Phone Industry!! That could have created 1000s of jobs but the politicians don't do enough, and then these businesses -who take OUR jobs- just help each other out. Why do you think Malcolm Turnball has a TV in his house? it was a kick back!!!!. Corruption is rife and if you go to the police they pretend they don't know anything about it!!! Then the phone calls at night start and then followed by anonymous letters - telling you, ney, warning you, to keep your nose out of where it doesn't belong and that you're messing with something big and that you'll regret it. And the next thing you know you're abducted from your house at 3am and taken to remote area….

        • +14

(Hint) He is joking, see post above.

        • -5

Thanks, It was too long to read. But I was mainly referring to all the people who get really upset when mistakes are not honoured. Don't know why I was negged anyway.

        • @abacus: yeah, I know. that was my inspiration for the above. the self-righteousness.

        • @altomic: Poe's Law applies here! ;)

      • +8

Bit of time up your sleeve tonight? :P

        • Nice way to put it. I was going to be a bit more direct.

        • @abacus: actually, after being on Ozbargain for a few years, the above statements could be virtually copied and pasted from previous rants.

      • -2

        It's a Washing Machine.

        • +6

          It's a trap…

      • +4

      • O.M.G. It must be true… Last time I was in jb they had a remote area!

  • +3

A cheap heater for the house

  • What is the best value for money item that we can get for $10?

    • +1

      Another $148 washing machine

  • +2

    From Victoria consumer affair site:

    “Pricing mistakes

If a business advertises an incorrect price by mistake, they are not obliged to sell their product at that price. However, they must withdraw the product from sale until the price is corrected.

If a customer places an order at an incorrect price, the business must inform the customer of their mistake before processing the order and give them the choice to continue with their order at the correct price, or cancel it. Alternatively, the business can choose to honour the discounted price as a sign of good will.

If a price seems unusually low, the customer can prevent any issues by asking the business if the price displayed is correct.”

Meh, I get a free blu-ray the next time JB has one of their 20% off sales for spending 5 minutes putting in a PayPal order. I have no complaints.

  • +4

I was eagerly waiting for the guy that says this whole thing was a bank interest scam and does all the calculations to prove JB HiFi are holding onto funds to get interest.

    • +3

      I forgot that bit. Gold.

  • thnx got mine somehow. :)

  • free $10, missed out : (

  • +1

    Sweet.. Free $10

  • +9

The worst part of all of this is that I am now convinced that I need a 10kg top loader in my life…

    • +1

      I absolutely wouldn't go below 7kg…

    • +5

      Get 2x 5kg for redundancy

    • Just bought a 10kg washer. Can confirm it is life changing :)

      • 10kg Washing machines are great, but check the size of the drum.

The Panasonic 10kg machine drum is tiny. The Samsung 10kg drum is big. My Whirlpool 10kg drum is huge.

You don't want to overfill as it doesn't clean as well.

Anyway, I've stopped buying Samsung products due to reliability issues (well with the exception of a Galaxy S7 recently as it's the most advanced phone on the market).

        • We bought a Fisher and Paykel that doesnt have an agitator. The drum is ENERMOUS (like, I could fit in it)

        • @antt:

agitator? You got a top loader?

I was taking about a front loader.

        • @JB1: Ahhh. Yeah we have always front loaders but this time we went for a top loader, simply due to the fact that it ws $800, or approx $1200 cheaper than a comparable front loader, and the drum way significantly larger. I do understand that they use more water and power though

        • @antt:

My 10kg Whirlpool is my first front loader. Can confirm it is life changing :) lol

It's gentler on clothes and I find washers better.

You are correct, my 10kg front loader drum is about the same size as a 8kg top loader.

I paid about $1,200 for mine 4 years ago and is made in Germany. The made in Germany part is what swayed me to get it.

Another good thing about my Whirlpool is that I can stop and open the door mid cycle to chuck in extra clothes. I believe most front loaders won't allow this.

  • +1

I need a Laundromat that accepts JB Hi-Fi Vouchers. lol

  • page not found.

am sure jb troll these pages

  • +2

So it looks like JB Hi-Fi took a bath on this one, or did they. At least a hundred people now have $10 gift cards they will use, therefore they will go to JB HiFi and purchase a product they may have otherwise not purchased from JB. They literally just got a hundred odd Ozbargainers to walk instore - with thier cameras charged and thier bargain radar on. I would say, well play JB.

    • +2

the giftcard can be used online, so dont have to walk in store :)

      • +6

        Hi, that guy ;)

  • whats the deal with people that payed with Paypal? any more protection in honoring the sale?
