I am confirm what i said based on:
1/The photo, it is NOT a name brand engine
2/It states its a "140cc Bolens engine" in other words Chinese
3/My decades of experience in the power equipment field
Also confirm, stick with name-brand engines, they do not cost a lot more [in fact no more] and service/parts wont be a issue in the future

I'm not sure whether the non briggs is a biggie. For $169 it's got swing back blades which will probably make the biggest difference for most users. The motor looks like a nice vanilla Chinese ohv one. These cheapies will not likely see the skills of a small engine mechanic. If they last 5 years it'll satisfy the average buyer. That said unless you need a mower to mow your lawn this week it ain't a raging hot climb over some other shoppers maniac deal.
Unfortunately most brigs powered ones in this price range are bar blade.
I guess with all cheap mowers your probably better off doing the kerbside collections and throwing a plug, lead and carb diaphragm at an old Briggs powered mower that some bloke thought was stuffed and tried nothing and got all out of ideas.

My old man had a Bolens mulching mower for years, was awesome, unless the grass was really long you didn't need to pick up any grass or empty a catcher. Doesn't look like this is quite the same though.
