I thought this deal had been around since last year when Red Royalty came about…

Could I use the $5 to buy this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/233802?

My bad i don't eat fast food… please delete

    • +4

You don't eat fast food but you are associated with it.

So are you saying that we shouldnt all eat red rooster?

      • +1

So are you saying that we shouldnt all eat red rooster?

Ask anyone who's worked in fast food and I'm sure they'll tell you not to eat there…

        "The horror! The horror!"

    • +3

      Lol what?

    • +1

It's alright. More than 6 months old.

  • Has anyone received their free lunch on their birthday? Is is only valid for a specific date or can it be used anytime during that month? Is the voucher part of an email or do you have to download something while in the store?

    • +4

Birthday voucher appears on your birthday and you have 4 weeks to use it same with oporto

    • You get a month, it comes up in the offers section on the Red Royalty app, scan the phone in store.

Android app is absolute crap, does not work and won't let you log in. Worked OK for my birthday last year but since then an "update" has severely broken it.

I ended up installing the app on an old iPod touch to get my free birthday meal this year.

      • I have an Android phone and have had limited success with the app. My transactions don't show as being recognised, however I checked with Red Rooster directly and apparently my transactions do appear in their system. I have no idea whether my birthday offer will show up in the offers section and whether it will work even if it does show up.

      • If you signed up with the app (or lost card) go to their website https://redroyalty.com.au/ (not the app) and press replace card once you pick up a physical card, change is instant. If you can't log in to the app you can't get the quarter (they don't have the 3 meal choice now), had to do that this weekend with mine.

Source: When I first signed up I asked the question if the app breaks then what can you do, can you have a card also, they said nope, however if you change your mind and don't want the app get the card and press replace card as mentioned above.

        • I'll see what happens when my birthday comes around. I am logged into the app but the app claims it can't find the wi-fi network. I was going to choose the chicken and chips anyway so I'll be happy with that if I can get it. I'll decide in a few months whether I want to change to a physical card.

        • @pointscrazy:

Yeah it has issue with getting to network (same message). If you still can scan the bar code it will work if the staff member presses the right button.

          @pointscrazy:
Cashed in my birthday meal last night
          Quarter chicken and chips.

Used up the free$5 sign up bonus on another 1/4 &chips

        • +2

@albanyson: Hungry guy. Cashed it in 4 times.

        • @thommo181:
To be fair, it was only a small chook and Just a quarter at that
The small chips barely made a dent too.

I am getting failed to register error.

Continuing a recent trend the OP naively offers up some free red cock and promptly receives a tongue lashing.

    • Can I get a tongue lashing with the $5 voucher?

    • No-one seems to have down-voted his offer of red cock though…

  • +2

Goodluck with the piece of shit they call an app.

    • I haven't had any qualms with the app. Galaxy Note 3.

      • Don't ever log out or clear app data then. Impossible to log back in.

        • Just logged out and logged back in again. No problems encountered. I believe you when you say you're having problems but it would appear that they are not universal.

(been successfully using the app for about 6 months as well)

        • @cainn:

You're lucky. There are a heck of a lot of us with the same problem :(

      • I've had issues with the app. Galaxy Note 3.

It just won't let me log in. I put in the correct details, press log in, there's a spinning symbol, then nothing happens and I'm still at the login screen.

I can login online though and I still have my card.

  • it comes up every 6 months this deal, so its ongoing though isn't it?

  • Thanks! I've just registered and it is said that voucher expires 26/05/16. So it is valid for 1 month not 8 weeks (just in case).

Free shit is the best shit.

I feel like "red royalty" is one of those terms you don't want to look up on urban dictionary…

My favourite is Red Rooster whole chicken cut into quarters. I just wish they had whole free range BBQ (cooked) chicken like Woolworths.

  • Funny how they have to give away $5, If they gave me $100 I still would not eat there.

    • +5

Yeah I lost all respect for Red Rooster once they started nuking their burgers and reheating their chips in the microwave. It just tastes like crap.

      • Had some of the chips. Some tasted bad :S

    • +1

Always good to know there are going to be 2 less in the queue when I go there to buy.

      • +3

Since when was there ever a queue at Red Rooster? :P

  • Prefer Red Rooster over KFC

  • Last week used the $5 for a $5 rippa deal.
Store was greatful for my business
    http://www.redrooster.com.au/menu/5-rippa-deal/

Today used the birthday free voucher and as soon as the cashier turned her back on me "not another birthday meal"

    LOL

So 2x free meals now. Thanks OP

Just back from the shop at Southern Cross station, they don't accept this voucher :(

  • The app appears to fail looking in OR registering on a lot of Android phones.

  • I managed to get my free birthday meal yesterday using the Android app even though it looked like it wasn't working properly. The birthday coupon didn't appear in the voucher section but the staff member just scanned the normal transaction barcode on the app and then used a staff authorisation card code to reduce the price. I got a free drink with my classic quarter which the staff member said was part of the deal. I was very impressed as I wasn't expecting the drink.

  • I got my birthday meal from them using the card, as the app won't let me sign in.

I couldn't get my sign up $5 voucher at the same time, but as I was with a friend, we needed more than just one quarter chicken for dinner, and were allowed to get the $5 when we went back to make another purchase.

As someone said, their microwaved chips weren't too good. The chicken was nice. We also tried a crafted burger which tasted good, though it was very lopsided as all the meat was on one end of the burger (this becomes a mess as you are trying to eat it).

I am grateful for the complimentary birthday meal but I hope they go back to cooking the chips properly (or some alternative idea).

  • Well I'm heading on down to the shops anyway but…how exactly does one use this voucher? There doesn't appear to be a barcode to scan or a unique number? Do they scan your loyalty card barcode and then they cashier punches in that you used that particular voucher into the register and that somehow feeds back to the app?

    • I think they scanned the loyalty card

      • +1

I think the store scanned the normal barcode on the phone app and that was supposed to register that the $5 voucher had been used.

My app never worked properly so I don't know if this was the case.

        • Thanks for the replies guys

Unfortunately the chick at Red Rooster Belconnen saw me coming from a mile away and shut me down. She claims the $5 voucher cannot be used with any specials, full price menu items only. Having just had a quick scan through of the terms and conditions that sounds like some bullshit.

        • @hetzjagd:

It's possible they changed the conditions since I used it in November last year. My $5 credit got used against a chicken and chips special which cost $5 as part of a promotion. It ended up being a free meal for me.

        • they must have changed the conditions in the last couple of months. i redeemed the $5 voucher in july and there was no minimum spend or "no promo items" rule

        • @tdw:

I don't think they have changed the conditions so much as they are making it up as they go along to whatever suits them best. I base this on that there is no mention of this in the terms and conditions and that other people have claimed a free meal very recently with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/265414
