These are a pretty good tool, but really GROSSLY overpriced in retail stores in Australia. The 'original' battery powered non-waterproof version, identical to the one sold here, can be had from aliexpress.com for USD$10 delivered. They're doing a USB rechargeable version of the 'original' style for the same price now (for example, this one).

I haven't found the new wet/dry version on aliexpress yet, but in time, it'll appear :-)

tl;dr: this is a legitimate bargain, but you can do MUCH better by buying from China

edit: as a further point of interest, the Scholl electric nail care thing goes for around USD$7, shipped from China, whereas they're offering it for $37 on a $30 off special at Coles and $35 at Chemist Whorehouse.

    • I'd get a battery operated unit rather than chancing with the USB rechargeable batteries of questionable quality.

the usb one on that first link looks like the batteries could be replaces with ordinary batteries anyway. it looks like the original version with a charge socket added

        • Looks like the USB powered ones are not rechargeable as it says not to put the batteries in the unit when using the USB cable. Kind of pointless.

Also, the description 'for scholls roller heads' suggests it's not a genuine Scholl product but that may not matter much except you get warranty on Scholl that you have to pay extra for.

        • ah, ok, that is kinda pointless. I was wondering why the addition of charging periphery didn't really affect the price!

AliExpress ads are written by non-English speakers who are doing their best. They also get takedown requests from manufacturers if they use brand names on the site. That's why you always see photos taken from creative angles to exclude branding, etc. The products that arrive are usually properly branded originals.

I've bought a couple of these foot sander gadgets from China. They're indistinguishable from the product sold here. Sellers usually ship without packaging to save postage costs, but occasionally they arrive in genuine packaging.

The 'foot sander' and 'nail sander' gadgets are absolutely not worth the price they charge in retail stores here in Australia. They're fair quality and they function as advertised, but fundamentally they're just cheaply made battery powered toys. Sixty-plus dollars is an absolute and unconscionable rort.

I think the 'warranty' is saving enough to be able to buy four replacements if something bad happens to the original! :-)

  • OP, you might like to add that the Velvet Smooth Nail Care gadget is $30 off on the Coles web site.

    • Thanks, added.

      • While Makita products are generally good quality, I think that $279 for a simple cuticle pusher is a bit too much!

Also, you've both forgotten to consider a nail polishing tool. Notably, this one from Bunnings is cheaper than the recommended retail price on the Scholl product!

        • I don't need to polish, but I was serious about using the rasp to prevent split heels :p

        • Perhaps best teamed with a little something from Dan Murphy's to dull the pain, eh? :-)

  • I bought one of these and it looks good/easy in the commercials but doesn't seem to work for me. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe just be how I'm using it. Otherwise it's a waste of $$

If this doesn't work, suggest you check out "milky foot". It's meant to be pretty good, but gross. Google it if you dare, or want to be grossed out

      • I've looked at this as well, may have to try it.

  • Its available on Amcal.com.au for $58 Plus there is a Free Shipping code which is BINGO

  • Bought some of the foot moisteriser cream for my cracked heels. Some of the products were advertised as urea free. I thought, "there is an alternative" and, yup, when you check some of the products they have urea in them.
