Sony SELP1650 $149 and Sony SEL2870 FE $179 @ Dick Smith Blacktown NSW

180

Saw these lenses in the case and grabbed one of the SEL2870's from my A6000.

Cheapest I can find these lenses is about $199 for the SELP 1650 (JB HiFi) and $324 for the SEL 2870 at Videopro ($399 at JB) Reviews are good for the SEL2870 and especially on the A6000 which is what I have.

There are about 12 of the SELP1650 and 5 of the SEL2870 in store.

I think the 2870 is the pick of the bargains here. Other stores may have some lenses. Rouse Hill Town Centre DS has none and closed all trading for good today. (Friday)

  • Is SEL2870 the kit lens? Pretty good price, they used to be $300 at most places

    • Yeah I believe it is. It's over $300 everywhere.

      • I thought SELP1650 was the kit lens. At least in my A6000.

        • Yeah sorry. It is the kit lens for the Sony A7 but reviews seem to point to it being better on the A6000.

  • Anyone know if melbourne have these?

  • Damn no chance I'm getting out there but if love one of those 28-70's

  • Wonder where stock goes if not sold? Transferred?

Damn your store has some good stuff left. all the ones around me have a bunch of printer inks and iphone 'move' cases thats about it

    • I went to nunawading just before they closed and they had hundreds if not thousands of move cases. Everything else was just garbage like 10% off phone chargers or 4 year old nokia phones.

  • is it worth getting the 28-70mm if you already have the 16-50mm? Since the fstop is the same and zoom is not that much different? (compared to the 55-210)

    • Probably not. The 1650 is also nice and small - I pretty much just leave it on my NEX6.

    • For shots of kids or family get the 50mm for outside shots or 30mm for indoors. The pancake wide angle lens is great for travel.

Not unless it was <$100.It is much bigger than the kit lens, but a good lens. Better to spend the money on a prime. I got a sel50f1.8 for $150 and it is a ridiculously good lens and the portraits rival my 6d with 85mm 1.4 and 135mm 2.0.

      • +1 from me for the SEL50F18F - great portrait lens for the a3/5/6k apsc cameras.

    • No its not worth getting this lens if you have a crop body.

  • Last week these were still $249/$299. Finally a bargain now.

And yeah I got a Sony RM-LV2 for $60 that week. Was waiting and waiting for it to come down but didn't wanna miss out as it was the last one. Happy with 60% off.

All the 28-70 are gone, still around 7 of the 16-50mm
