Given that people who pay using electronic means spend more more than those that pay with cash I wouldn't be surprised if further lowering the barriers to making a payment - you no longer need grab your wallet and open it to find that pesky card - will cause people (measured as a group) to increase their spending relative to the period before they had NFC or electronic payments.

Comfortingly as an individual you actually have no valid way of assessing this although I guess you could compare your past spending. You still have no way of knowing for certain that NFC caused any changes :D

    Frickin' psychology.

Agreed, not worth the pain of being a NAB customer to redeem this offer…

        Agreed!

Of approximately 10 big issues with them, they COULDN'T DO A SINGLE THING RIGHT. This is not a typo.

The most interesting was the two or three times they went "we cocked up everyone's balance and need to calculate how much money you should have again! Therefore, internet banking will be down the next two days".. seriously, WTF. Doesn't make you feel like your money is safe..

It took them a year to add an additional cardholder to a credit card. We had to visit them FOUR times just on the basis of they kept saying they didn't have our ID recorded (you can imagine how pissed we were to have to visit them 4 times during business hours for exactly the same reason).

My mortgage broker moved branches without telling me. That one wasn't a big deal.

They screwed up the home loan documents though and were a pain to fix.

Oh wait, they charged the wrong (too high) interest rate on my home loan for a number of years.

When refinancing later on, the guy working on ours changed companies. Nobody thought to try and complete our loan! Hello to an extra 4 months without finance.

Ah yes, I got stranded in a country without money because the credit card didn't work overseas (despite going to the branch on two separate occasions to check with them before leaving AU)

        Holy shite they are horrible!

        • Holy shite they are horrible!

That's why they need to offer '$0.06 Juices/ $1.00 Burgers' to keep their customers…

You'd think they'd be better off fixing their systems and processes so that these problems don't happen again…

        • commbank has prob too. which bank do you recommend?

  • Bloody hell my Moto G 3rd gen doesn't have NFC…..sad
