    Banggood = no deal

    • How come? Postage might be a bit slow but they are cheap and a lot better than some of the other Chinese stores.

May be ok for those goods that are not banggable

        • OK!

Yeah, buying an electrical device from here, and plugging in things like TVs etc… can't see that going wrong!

        the usb ports are awesome

        • Yep 2.1A across all 3 simultaneously. I use the standard power strip without USB ports though.

Usual comments apply here regarding non local compliance, non compliant sockets etc…

You had me at "Also you can timing the device"

I think this 'deal' should be pulled, its illegal to import uncertified electrical devices into Australia.

Should Kogan be shut down as well? Anyone who buys phones from Kogan will receive an overseas charger in the box.

      • I always throw Kogan chargers away and use only those bought from local shops. Fire risk from USB chargers is not as bad as that from power boards any way.

        • Even the genuine Samsung/Sony/Apple/etc chargers that come in the box?

Fire risk from USB chargers is not as bad as that from power boards any way.

          Why?

        • I'd disagree there. They have slightly different failure modes. A charger could lack proper isolation and therefore is more of a direct human safety risk whereas a badly designed powerboard could and melt / short circuit and in turn cause a fire.

        • the new adapters they throw in are sturdy and insulated pins

        • @eug: Kogan chargers are not genuine Samsung/Sony/Apple/etc chargers.

@werty98: Have you bought any mobiles or tablets from Kogan before? They come with the original overseas Samsung/Sony/Apple/etc chargers. Kogan used to then include a travel converter.

Nowadays they seem to include their own branded charger as well. I'd much rather use the genuine overseas charger with a travel converter rather than the Kogan charger or any locally-purchased generic chargers - I think it's safer even though the overseas charger does not have australian certification. It's likely safer than locally-purchased generic chargers too.

After all, how often do hotels filled with foreign tourists burn down?

No it's not illegal to import "uncertified" electrical products. It's illegal to sell them but not to import.

It's people like you who are responsible for the massive amounts of red tape and bureaucracy that add so much to everything we do from wiping our asses to painting our houses.

Does this product have any electrical safety standards compliance? Doesn't mention anything on the website e.g. FCC / CE / A-Tick.

    • -7

Probably not. But if you burn your house down you could probably bring Ozbargain to court.

  • Does the NRTL certification claim provide any safety assurance? I'm quite keen to try this product or are there alternatives of comparable function and price? It looks like a new product perhaps and might be more compelling if/once there are reviews?
