3SIXT 30-Pin Apple Charge and Sync Cable - $1 for 3 - Free Shipping @ Harvey Norman

150

Mate just got his in the post. No box, no documentation, just cables in a plain envelope.

Apparently these cable are from 3SIXT, but there's no branding on the cables which is a bit odd.

We couldn't find these on 3SIXT's website so not sure if MFi certified (although their other products are) but $1 for 3 is cheaper than buying from China.

      Where did you bring them?

  • I'll just put up the stupid questions here:

    duh, are they geniune?
i read on the internet that someone plugged one of these cables in to there iphone and then they dropped it in the toilet and the phone died - will this cord kill my phone?
    does this support firewire?
will this work with my nexus 5?
has any one received their order yet?

    • The negga's got no sense of humor

      Are they MFI Certified?

Can these charge an iPhone 6?

Are those the ones they have in the barrels at the checkout? If so it might explain lack of packaging.

  • We have these cables at work for charging the iPads. Be aware they don't deliver full 2.4A of current, they seem to max out at 1 Amp

    • These flat cables have very thin conductors. As you've found, you need a much better cable to get 2A.

  • Bought one, but didnt realize I was supposed to change quantity to 3 to receive the 3 for $1 offer, so now they are just sending me 1 I assume? I mean its only $1 I guess but only reason I wanted it is so I have spares I can leave at work, study, etc..

There is no MFI certification required for 30-pin cables - they don't have any IC Chip inside them, they're just a bit of wire. So, MFI or not, they will work. Only Lightning cables need a MFI chipset inside them to be reliable.

You'd be pushing shit to even get 1 Amp through these at a decent voltage, as the flat "noodle" style lead have hair-thin conductors inside. But perfectly fine for charging iPod up to 4th Gen and even iPhone 3GS & 4 at a pinch.
