Free $2 Optus Sim Card (for ING / Coles MC Users - $1 Otherwise) @ Coles Express

290

Not as good as the past $10 Optus sim card. However this has a number of potential uses: (1) 500MB of data to use in a day from the optus $2 a day plan. (2) Unlimited music streaming via Spotify, Pandora, Google Music etc (3) Use it as a sim card to port your number to (4) Receive phone updates if Optus release it before your carrier.

You have until June 1 to claim the ATM vouchers and until June 15 to claim your sim card for each voucher. To see the offer on the website, click on number 3 on the right hand side box

The usual deal details/explanation:

You'll receive the Optus $2 sim card every time you do a balance enquiry or make a withdrawal at a Coles Express ATM. The machine will prompt you at the end to choose your voucher and print it out, you can use it then or keep it for next time. You can do either a balance enquiry ($1) or a cash withdrawal ($2.50) to receive the voucher. Whilst anyone can do this, only ING Direct customers and Coles MasterCard (prepaid also) customers can do it without incurring a fee. ING Direct will refund your ATM fees for both of these ($1 & $2.50). You can also use your Coles Credit card to make a balance enquiry if you prefer which is fee free. If you have both then use the Coles MasterCard as it's quicker (no fee prompt/refund).

This deal will work with Coles Prepaid Cards if doing a balance enquiry.

Reminder to receive free ATM fees you must deposit (but not keep) $1000 a month into your ING account:
"Every single ATM in Australia is FREE. Simply deposit $1,000 or more per month."

  • Just moved from Optus to Telstra and went from no bars most of the time to three bars, at least, all the time. Moving the missus over this week. Just sayin' … ….

I thought these $2 SIM cards have $0 credit on them? Don't you have to recharge them after activation?

    • I believe the $2 isn't starter credit, however it can be used for any offer. Correct me if I am wrong.

Found this comment which seems to indicate it should work.

  • whats stopping someone using it over and over in 1day?

    • Do you mean obtaining multiple sim cards? It's 1 sim card per transaction so you would have some difficulty redeeming multiple vouchers at once for multiple sim cards.

      • You'll also get a call from ING…

      • get balance … get the voucher…
        get balance again… rinse repeat

        • Yeah you can do that, the issue is you then have to take the voucher to the counter to get the sim card and the voucher says something about 1 per transaction. So it's easy to obtain multiple vouchers like you said, but swapping them for sim cards at the counter is probably something you'll only be able to do once per visit.

        • @hamza23:
Depends on the attendant. One voucher per transaction. A customer should be able to make multiple transactions. When the $10 SIMs were on offer the most I got in one visit was four.

  • Do they still have the 50c off coffee option?
