12 Cheesy Nuggets for $5 @ Red Rooster

660

Hey all,

Saw this on the way to work yesterday at Red Rooster, then got the email about it today. Seems like a pretty decent deal with 12 cheesy nuggets for $5. Regular price I think is $4 for 4, but don't quote me on that as they don't publish their prices online (this will keep JV happy ;))

Not sure how long it lasts, and should be available Australia wide.

        • No where in that blog post does it recommend eating fat from fast food.

  • Red Rooster has a weird franchise set-up. I have 2 Red Rooster outlets in my town (outside the malls). One has all the specials, the rewards program and home delivery the other has none of these. Guess which one is closer and whose delivery area I'm in even though they don't deliver… that's right… the franchisee who won't play ball on anything. I'm surprised they can do that. It must be a very loose agreement … or one is corporate.

Regular price is $2 for 4 unless they got rid of that 'deal'. They're also doing a whole chicken and family sized chips for $15.

I think it has ended. I was just going off the 'delivered' price which is 4 for $4.95, but I know that Red Rooster add on a fair bit for their 'free' delivery on all items (like 2x chickens being $20 in store, but $30 delivered even though delivery is supposedly free).

      • 2 chickens aren't $20, that was another deal, they're $12.99 seperate.

        • +1

Yes, I know that. My entire point was, the had the deal for 2 chickens for $20, when you went onto the delivery option on their site, the 2x chickens became $30. Even if they're $13 each regularly, they're still charging higher prices on everything then claiming delivery is 'free' over $25 when in reality it's not.

Compare the prices in store compared to their online delivery prices, and you'll see basically everything is more expensive.

    • Don't forget Coles and Woolies sell cooked chooks for $8

      • +3

The skin on the Coles and Woolies chicken do not match the ones from Red Rooster…

        • and they leave them in those plastic bags so the bottom of the chook gets all soggy

  • Has anyone tried these?

    • +4

Yep, best things ever!  I've been consistently eating them for the last 15 years. They are nuggets that ooze melted cheese, what's not to love?!

      • it must be that good lol

      • They were my favourites when I was a kid but whilst still being good - I remember them being better.

I put that down to me not knowing any better way back when…

      • Not much cheese was noticeable in mine, definitely not oozing

Tried some last week and they were awful- wouldn't go near them ever again.

  • Had some for lunch today in Queens Plaze, Brisbane CBD. They taste alright, won't be going back to them anytime soon.

While I was there I did ask if they had the 1/4 chicken and chips for $5 deal, and they do, so I'll be trying that next time.

I would say the nuggets at McDonalds > KFC > Hungry Jacks, might try these to see how they stack up

    • No way! KFC > All else.

      • 10 years ago i'd agree with you, but the quality of the chicken they're using in the nuggets now is really bad

  • I had them yesterday and they were aweful, theyve dumbed them down to sell at this price. I could barely notice any processed fake chicken in them at all, and there was no oozing fake cheese, they were majority crumb, salt and sesame seeds

  • Tried them tonight. very nice. IMHO, Macca's too dry. KFC's too soft. Hungry Jack's too oily. Will go for it again when I have the chance. Cheers.

  • I tried these cheesy nuggets from Red Rooster for lunch today and they're horrible. I really struggled through the last 3-4 of them.

  • I honestly don't know what the complaints are about. They tasted fine to me and I have had them several times. Weird how people find things so dramatically different to their taste.

  • I got these for free today by joining Red Royalty club you get a free $5 voucher on your card, so 12 free cheesy nuggets + free sauce, cannot go wrong :)

  • I actually like how there was a coating with seeds on it. Some extra chewiness to it. For all the people complaining that they're horrible maybe you're not use to the flavour and rarely is cheese added to nuggets. The 1st time I got it the cheese I got was half the amount I expected, meaning it does not ooze. It was something like a cream puff which was still fine. For this price you shouldn't complain. Still cheaper than all the nuggets out there and it's always nice to try something different! Still tastes like meat which is what I really care about!
