I bought this HDD from an ebay sale late last year. If I didn't have it up and running by now I would be angry. I did a clone using a program called "EaseUS Todo Backup Free 8.8" after the Samsung clone software failed.

Yep, that's my experience with Samsung clone in 3 different upgrades…. fails at 99%, but EaseUS always worked

Good deal. I'm just disappointed it's not that much better than local prices
I'm waiting for a real "deal" on this drive, something like <$110

But thanks for posting OP :) always good to see

I got it from SE last year for $200 delivered. AU Dollar is bit stronger compared to that time, so not sure if it is a good price unless you want it now.

      • It's been around this price for the last couple months though, in various sales. So what I'm waiting for is a big new sale

Yeah people keep posting goodish ssd deals like 10 or 20 bucks cheaper than me popping into msy today to grab one.

Something 150ish would be nice instead of these consistently $200+ deals. Anything around $100 is a piece of trash ssd usually posted by some guy called lyl.

I got a samsung evo 850 500gb last year during the ebay $100 money back deal for a cash back deal of $140. Excellente.

          @Bloody Noses:
When I first commented on this deal, I would swear it was the 250gb for $119
Which kind of changes what I was saying haha

If you have an AMEX card it still is cheaper to go through Kogan at the moment bearing in mind grey imports etc.

    From an earlier deal

2.5” mechanical drives are bullet proof vs these SSDs

You're kidding right? Had a few fail on me.
SSDs have no moving parts so aren't prone to "physical" failure unlike mechanical harddrives.

But my samsung 830 died after 3 years. 2 months out of its warranty.. :(

      Buddy, this is an 850.

computer people ! would this be a good SSD to replace my HDD on my 2012 macbook pro? thanks

    • +2

      Definitely!

    • +1

Absolutely, just ordered one for my 2012 MacBook Pro. You can also off eBay buy a $10 adapter to get rid of the old CD drive and put your current hard drive in that slot and the new SSD in for 1TB of total storage.
