    Thanks! Aussie living in HK

  • Yea good deal.
    Why the reports?

Btw in response to your description, you couldn't take MTR?

      Why the reports?

Not that I reported the deal, but it could be that it is not 'available to Australia'.

If there was a HKBargain then this would be relevant, but I guess some don't think it's relevant here. It would be similar to posting a deal on taxi discounts in (foreign city of your choice). Sure it's good for users who just happen to be in that city right this moment, but I'd suggest the chances of that are very slim.

It is a 50/50 thing though, because those Japanese train ticket deals seem to be pretty popular even though they'd be of no use to anyone actually residing in Australia, but is great for those of us planning a trip or something and need a cheap way around.

Ah right makes sense. Forgot about that rule.

Technically speaking though, it is available to Australia(ns)? I guess the Japanese train ticket ones appeals to a greater number of people because of the volume of people on Ozbargain that fly there. If it was for somewhere like Honduras, you'd probably get people quoting this rule and reporting the deal without much defence from others.

      • The subcategory is travel, but you are right on the relevance to Aus residents.
Perhaps OzBargain needs a dedicated area for travel/Over Seas related deals, discounts?

    • You are right on the MTR, I should have worded that better. MTR is the best rail network i've seen in any country. My wording was bias due to large miss-communications/language barriers with taxi and bus drivers whilst i was there last month.

      • The MTR is the best rail network you've ever seen? You need to get out more mate. It doesn't even have interconnecting loops. London Underground is obviously the gold standard.

        • Why would you need interconnecting loops while you can get there point to point? I've been to London as well and many if not most London Underground stations don't even have escalators, not to mention how old and poorly maintained the system was.

        • @Redwood:

What are you smoking guy? There is no comparison between MTR and the Tube. The Tube is without doubt the superior system. It might be old, but it certainly isn't poorly maintained, and handles over double the amount of passengers per day. It's interconnecting loops are genius and form the basis for all other underground railway designs.

        • @thorton82: Ok. I've lived in HK for quite a while and I'm not gonna argue whether MTR or the Tube is better, but MTR and the Tube is definitely of comparison. Basically you won't see trackwork in MTR in service hours and not to mention the MTR system is fully air-conditioned. Tube? It's not ventilated and gets real hot in summer. If you go google it, I think the world will tell you if there is a comparison.

no problems here getting around hk and I don't speak chinese

  • HK Taxi driver are always having a bad day, even on Mother's day.
Not sure why this deal is on OZBargain, shouldn't be on HKBargain? if there is one?

    • No hkbargain yet

CheapCheapLah is doing no good anyways

  • Don't mean to interrupt your bargain, just a quick question, could I use the uber app in Singapore if ive registered in australia?

    • Yes, so long as there are UBER drivers around you you can book one.

  • Hong Kong people speak cantonese, not mandarin!

    • Umm, yes i know. Hence the difficulty I had trying to direct taxi's and what not. On average they understood just as much English as they did Mandarin
