I wouldn't touch Elephone after my previous experiences. Random hardware issues, poor software support. Spend a little more and go Xiaomi.

    • I agree with you on Elephone it severely lack quality and software support, however, I had less issues and bugs with it than I have bugs, issues and problems with my Xiaomi redmi note 2. And I already hate the guts of MIUI in general.

      • Hmmm using a RMN2 and have no issues whatsoever :)

Here is a thing about super-hyped Chinese phones - you are expected to flash a ROM to make them work properly and you need to do it mostly by yourself(For Xiaomi, to unlock the bootloader, you need to wait a permission from Xiaomi for weeks, yes WEEKS). Hell, many of them don't even have Google Play Store out of a box because of the Chinese government regulations. It may be a good toy for tech savvy persons, but probably not for an average Australian.

For this reason, I usually don't purchase a Chinese phone, unless it runs stock or near stock Android. .

        • True, not my case though. I flashed unlocked bootloader and tried a nu,ber of official and custom firmwares, and there's always a bunch of issues and dumb MIUI "optimisations". It's just a wrong place to get me started on all this…

@abm77: It is not your fault. MIUI is notorious for being heavy and buggy. You are not the only one who have ever had those problems. I'd rather wait until Xiaomi actually launch a phone in either USA or Australia. Until then, as I said, I'd rather stick with Chinese phones that run stock android. Much hassle free.

Agreed again mate. I just wish I wasn't been bought by all that hype with xiaomi. Stock android much better. I'll try though a MIUI 8, wich was announced today and if I still will be unhappy with it I will flash AOSP and be done with it. Hardware in XRN2 is actually not bad for the price.

@abm77: Yeah, I agree, hardware-wise, you get more bang for the buck with Xiaomi. Built quality isn't rubbish either. It is just software which makes the whole thing useless. If I was in the market for a phone under $200, I'd buy refurbished HTC M7, Galaxy S4 or Sony Xperia Z1 which can be found on Ebay and Aliexpress.

I can say the same for xiaomi. Although my only phone was the note 3. But after all the headaches and issues I had with it, I'll never buy another xiaomi phone again.

  • i have been using this phone since it came out…only thing it lacks is Gorrila Glass…otherwise it was good phone…I bought it for 260AUD so this is good price….they are bringing out P9000 thats why i think its marked down…it works on optus 4G

  • If you buy one of these phones I would suggest doing some research and using a different OS.
They normally come with some infected software

This is one of common problems that I have found with Chinese phones & tablets. Manufacturers ship their phones & tablets with some pre-installed malware and infected apps. I mean are they aware selling phones and tablets with infected apps actually damages their reputation overall?
