Continental Tyres - 4 for The Price of 3 @ JAX Tyres

130

From merchant website:

Simply purchase 3 tyres from the Continental Passenger or 4x4 ranges to receive the 4th for FREE!

Clarification
Haven't confirmed with JAX customer service, but if you proceed through their online checkout, this is how it goes down:

You get the 4th tyre for free, but you still have to pay $15 to get the (4th and free) tyre fitted.
So the free part is just the tyre itself, not the other charges associated with buying a single tyre.

Total price ($) = 3 * continental_single_tyre_price + 15

  • Simply purchase 4 tyres

Then you get the 5th for free.

      Terms and Conditions
Standard charges for fitting, balancing, tubeless valve, waste tyre management fee & GST apply for the 4th tyre for all tread patterns.

Apparently, you still pay something for the 4th tyre.

(singing) Max Power, he's the man whose name you'd love to touch, but you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it, you mustn't fear! Cause his name can be said, by anyone!

          Mr. Power!

      • +1

"Standard fitting costs apply to the free tyre ($15)."

Do all tyre companies charge this with the free tyre deals?

        • +2

Most tyre shops include this in the price of each tyre, so you don't pay anything for the 4th free tyre.
It's usually a promotion from the manufacturer, so I understand that some shops can't absorb the cost.

        • @Max Power: when they give your a tyre for free, they still need to dispose of the tyre it replaced. Tyre cost is the cost of the tyre plus fitting and disposal

        • @OnlinePred:
How is that different to what I said?

        • @Max Power: because you pay for the disposal, valve and fitting of the 4th tyre, but you don't pay for the actual tyre.

        • +1

          @OnlinePred:
That is what I said. Look at the top.

Standard charges for fitting, balancing, tubeless valve, waste tyre management fee & GST apply for the 4th tyre for all tread patterns.

How do you pay GST for a tyre when it's for "free"?

        • GST on fitting, balancing, tubeless valve, waste tyre management fee.

    • +1

Simply purchase 4 tyres … to receive the 4th for FREE!

It's worded poorly, but pretty sure it's 4 for the price of 3.

  • +1

Bob Jane is running the same promotion but no mention of fitting cost for the 'free tyre'!

    • +1

But how does the price of each tyre compare? If each tyre is >$5 extra at Bob Jane, then this deal is still cheaper.

      • Bob Jane website does haven't the full purchase and checkout process available, i.e. you have to contact them for quotes on a lot of the tyres and then contact them to make bookings and get finalised pricing.

So it depends on what you want, then you have to follow it up with Bob Jane, as opposed to just doing it all on the JAX website.

I just have it done with ContiComfortContact 5 (175/65 R14) at Bob Jane yesterday. Advertised as $95 each corner and the fourth one free. Same as JAX but no extra $15.

        • Confirming paid for 3 + $0 for the 4th at Bob Jane

BTW Great tyres, been waiting for this sale.

      • Bob Jane also have a Best Tyre Price Guarantee if anyone's curious. Edit: also wheel alignment is always extra $60ish

        • +1

Yes, I just got ContiMaxContact 5 (215/45 R17) fitted to my WRX at Bob Jane last week under the 3 for 4 deal - no extra charges for fitting. Did have to get a wheel alignment (which I was expecting), which was $75 as had to have front and rear done. They're close to home, so very convenient to just drop the car off, walk home (they did offer to drive me home, but it's only a 15-20 minute walk, and I can do with the exercise LOL) and then walk back later on to pick it up. Great service, car was ready on time and it was nice to come across guys at the counter who didn't "talk down" to their female customers, which unfortunately is often the case with car-related services. Oh, and something I found out whilst I was reading the info at the counter, if you're using a CBA credit card that earns Awards points, Bob Jane is one of their bonus partners so you get an extra 1 point per $ spent :).

        • @SimbaGirl: I am looking to get the exact same tyres for my car. The quote I got from BJ today was $155 x 3 = $465. This includes fitting and balance.

  • I don't own a car but my step dad reckons the Costco tire centre is the way go.

    • Got any links to prices?

      • +14

Nah sorry. I even spelt tyre wrong which gives a good indication about how much I know.

  • Need to get 4x new tires for a 2wd Rav4 and have no idea where to start! There are deals left right and centre by the looks of it but not sure how they compare and what to look for tbh. Costco are down the road, might check them out, but kmart tyre and auto say they match any deals inc buy 3 get 1 free etc…

    • Work out which continental you want and get on the blower and bust some nuts. The size you need is written on the side of your tyres.

  • Bought some from jax on the last 4 for 3 conti deal and didn't have to pay for fitting.

  • need new contis for my bmw now to check if this is the lowest or the 4th has been factored ini the price for the 3

    • I was thinking the same as well. Cheapest from other places is $505 per tyre, whereas JAX is $617 per tyre. So JAX is still cheaper if buying 4 tyres.

  • I did get the bridgestone 4 for 3 deal last month. Bob Jane don't charge for fitting. At my local are capalaba bobjane and jax will beat each other and Kmart will match anyone and they are all a few doors down from each other. So jax do have the fee for fitting but if you get a price off Bob Jane they'll pretty much waive it. I got bridgestone ep100 205/55r16 for my whip for $399 all up. $50 on top for a wheelie. Getting pressured for an overpriced shock absorber job over the phone that I didn't need was for free. They were nice enough when I said no I'd monitor wear till the next rotation.

    • Also note jax would love these tyre deals too, even if they don't make much. They make their real money for the spin off brake, steering and shock replacements they get out if it. There's a huge markup on those and modern passenger cars with floating discs and two bolt shock jobs are so simple to do. They usually do a super high markup on parts.

That's why they want you to come in for a free alignment every 10k…

And then the condition of your shocks or tie rods become directly proportional to how busy their staff is that day.

  • Great deal OP. The entry level contis are a steal at RRP, this deal makes them even better.

  • placed an order for michelin with jax this very morning. i would try bob next time. it sounds bob has good reputation (if not bettr than jax). actually it is my first time to deal with jax too. hope they are good too.

  • These deals is literally always on, either at Bob Jane, baurepaires, Jax, Tyre power, etc, like a few of you had mentioned, the promotion is from the manufacturer and anything else other then the cost of the Tyre will obviously vary from shop to shop, that would be the only difference.

Furthermore, some stores will match the price if they are slightly cheaper at another store. Same with wheel alignment, we'll from my experience I've gotten a price match for a cheaper wheel alignment.

Just drive past tyre/wheel shop and you will see a sign 4 for 3 cost etc..

    • It depends if you actually need the 4th tyre. Alot of folks have a brand new spare wasting away in the boot. Which can be rotated on with your new tyres and your best tread tyre can be used as your spare. So really it's a tyre the shop may not have sold anyway.

      • +1

Alot of folks have a brand new spare wasting away in the boot.

A lot of folks have a brand new space saver that can't be used for general duties.

  • I got 4 Conti 4x4SportContact's fitted to my car last week.

Conti store in Diamond Creek, Melb.

4th tyre , fitting etc was free.

    275/40 20inch @ $495 each.

Worked out cheap for 4 tyres.
