  • What are the eligible vehicles?

    • +1

      Tiggo 4 Hybrid, Tiggo 7 & 8 Super Hybrid and E5

      • E5 looks okay on the outside.

        • The Chery E5 seems to be outclassed by the similarly named Geely EX5 on multiple measures

          • +5

            @danzha: stop cherry-picking!

  • +6

Worth a lot looking at ticket prices at Hoyts!

  • +25

I will test drive straight to hoyts.

    • I like your thinking

    • +4

Make sure the fam with you

  • +4

lol, so pop your Chery then go watch F1 The Movie with friends?

  • +24

What advantages does this motor vehicle have over, say, a train? Which I could also afford?

    • +5

I came looking for this comment, and was not disappointed.

    • +5

Train is more powerful, more comfortable and often provides free entertainment depending on who else is on hte train at the time.

      • +1

        Train is more powerful

        ✔️ true

        more comfortable

you might be riding the Disney land train

often provides free entertainment depending on who else is on hte train at the time.

Not unless you become the subject of entertainment

        • 2) Definitely more comfortable: I can walk, stretch, get new ideas/socialise. I don't care for Disney fantasyland (US is the opposite ;)

          3) You are victim of Western individualism (divide & conquer - like you ;)
I contribute to upgrading capitalism to socialism with my train comrades ;)

      Put it in H

  • What do people think of the Tiggo 8 Super hybrid.

I'm looking for a 7 seater, either EV or hybrid.

Also, I assume service and other costs would be higher on a hybrid, compared to EV.

    • +3

Seems really compelling based on reviews. Actually looking forward to test driving. I technically don't need a 7 seater but appreciate the option and large boot space when the third row is down.

    • +1

The only car I'd be interested in, has some decent reviews too. Wish there was a 100% EV 7 seater option.

      • +1

EV 7 seater in the recent times that impressed me is XPENG X9. Seen it in expo recently.

They said they will launch it in Australia market end of this year or early next year.

  • +3

    What is a super hybrid?

    • +6

      PHEV

    • Almost electric but not really

      • +2

Yep, it’s got so much battery it can carry the ICE engine around much longer…

        • Yes, ICE-friendly EV (~70%), vs Toyota EV-friendly (~30%) ICE (cannot work without it)

  • +1

It seems I would need to drive to Seymour to take advantage of this fine offer.

Why have a dealership in the capital city when you can stick it in the middle of nowhere instead!

To receive the Movie Pass, the Entrant must test drive an Eligible Vehicle at an authorised Chery Dealer during the Promotion Period and provide their personal information following the test drive to the dealer, including full name, email address, phone number so that a form can be submitted by the dealer on the Entrant’s behalf.

By entering, Entrants consent to the use of their personal information for future promotional, marketing, and publicity purposes, unless otherwise advised. Have fun with that lol

    • +4

Fake name, hide my email, disposable boost sim

      • +1

Except salesperson will be there with you, and needs to copy your DL for the test drive

        Oh and:

The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant's identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process.

        • +2

So then I'll give them my real name…idc haha

There's plenty of people with my same name….

What’s the concern? If it’s spam, just unsubscribe the next day. If it’s data leaks, that data has long flown the coop.

4 free movie tickets to deal with a couple of bits of spam, better than the spam I usually get nothing from.

      • -4

Why stop with blase indifference? Why not willingly give all your personal information to absolutely everybody with utterly no regard?

        • +3

Because I don’t get free stuff out of that.

In the flip side, do you protect your contact information from everyone? Forgo all opportunities to get a job, have services and utilities or purchase products where they need to contact you?

        • Funny world we live in.
Recommendations to share your personal data in exchange for movie tickets gets up voted.
Advice to respect your data and privacy gets down voted.

          • -1

@Secret ID: The militant devaluation of personal information (by the actual owners thereof) marches ever onwards! Gimme a biscuit - here's my TFN!

      • I test drove a tesla today and they asked me for the same info. Seems ev companies all want this info for marketing/sales leads so I don't see what's the big fuss. Just give a fake email/ph if privacy is paramount.

    • Oh no, how will I survive giving one of my dozen or so phone numbers

    • +2

Thanks for that. However, most people won't care.
They either got "northing to hide" or "your data is already out there, why not share it further".

      • Yep, the weekly large scale corporate data breaches aside, there are so many information brokers selling your data that trying to maintain some level of privacy now is just a joke.
I used to spend so much time and energy on trying to maintain some level of privacy and to what end? I just don't care anymore and it's been great - aside from more targeted ads there has been zero negative impact on my life.

  • +6

So all I need now is a family

  • looking for a 7 seater too, will find out more this weekend and update how I go.

  • Good deal but Hoyts is too far away from me. Would have preferred them to offer Event cinema tickets as well.

  • +1

    Doesn't make sense.

Test drive a vehicle Friday to Sunday, and the Melbourne dealers seem to be closed on Sunday lol.

    • +2

Many dealers are open on Sunday in other states. Lakeside Chery in Melbourne is open on Sunday.

    • Friday or Saturday then?

  • +2

I had a look at these cars on the weekend and have read heaps about them. Don't know why there is so much hate. These cars look amazing inside, 1200 km claimed range and are affordable prices. The thing putting me a bit off is the exterior design.
I'm tossing up between Tiggo 7 or Jaecoo J7. Jaecoo J7 looks much better from the outside but the inside doesn't do it for me.

    • +1

The engine and electric motors are the same but the Tiggo 7 PHEV is much cheaper by $8000.

      • +1

That's what's swaying me more to the Tiggo 7. Hopefully Jaecoo have a price drop some day soon but very doubtful will be this year

        • +1

Chery and Jaecoo discounts are rare compared to other brands like MG

          • +1

@shxhshzhz: Some people on the Chery owners Facebook group mentioned that you can access fleet pricing if you work for government or some large companies like Woolworths.

    • +1

Hey @FrankTT. I am tossing up between the 2 of them as well. I looked at the Jaecoo SHS and even the dealer told me you are losing full spare tyre and heated steering and paying $5K more. He said for my usual driving habits, it's not worth it. The 'dial' is also on the right hand side of the steering wheel instead of the left console next to the driver which seems odd to me. Sorry if my terminology is wrong. Novice here who still drives a manual.

I love the look of the outside of the Jaecoo but prefer the look of the size and placement of the 2 screens in the Chery. One year difference in warranty but Jaecoo (J7 Ridge AWD) are also $9K more expensive than the Tiggo Pro SE+. I really want a sunroof so have to go top of the ranges to be included.

Haven't test driven yet but I would love to know which you go with once you decide and the reasons why. Thanks and good luck.

      • +1

Cheers for your input. You are think the same as me, Jaecoo J7 better exterior / Chery better interior. Was going to test drive a Chery Tiggo 7 on Saturday but cancelled it, I want to wait for more reviews.

  • No dealer available in Canberra, worth to drive to Goulburn?

      • not showing when I tried to book. and the only thing I can find using their “Find a dealer" is Chery belconnent service centre. Maybe the Canberra dealer is not part of this promo.

        • A 2 hour drive for free movie tickets is your choice. Try calling Chery Lennock Phillip.

  • Wow a SUPER hybrid!

  • +1

This one is for you Count @Jimothy Wongingtons

  • +1

This is like getting free Disney tickets after timeshares talks, though a test drive is a lot less intense, so the reward is proportionally reduced.

  • I see all their showrooms are closed on Sunday. Then what's the point running the promotion till Sunday when you cannot test drive on Sunday.

    • Some dealers are open on Sunday.

  • +1

Anyone received a confirmation email yet?

    • +3

Still waiting for some sort of response a well…

      • +1

No word here either, I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be a lot of people getting ghosted by dealers ahead of the weekend.

        • +2

So we’ve signed up with our details and we will probably receive nothing but spam in response. My guess is, they will say they’ve been inundated and they’ll offer us a test drive in a couple of weeks with no free movie pass. It’s not the smartest of ways to treat potential customers.

  • It'll be so awkward to insist you're not interested in purchasing the car after test drive and say at the end and btw, where's my family pass?

    • I'm sure it's pretty normal for these types of promotions tied to a test drive, I think BYD did one a while back with a small gift card?

On the flip side, salespeople at dealerships have gotten shitty with me for not committing to purchasing after test drives WITHOUT incentives too.

    • -1

Haha did the test drive this morning. They told me about the movie tickets and asked for me email. I left without asking at the end and no tickets lol

  • I think sinc everyone only test driving it for the tickets, the staff just spend 15 mins for my slot and going 1 block around the dealership only. Not a great experience and no opportunity to view in more detail.

    • Did they take a pic or record details off your drivers license

      • Yes for insurance purposes they took the license copy and sign for the excess and think $1500 for the test drive

        • Did they give you physical tickets?

          • +1

@0 0 0: Nah, the head office will send the tickets to our email from what I am told. We’ll see

    • +1

I took the car for at least 30-40 Min

  • +1

PSA: you will not receive your free tickets immediately. They will be sending it via email after the promotion ends. (Fingers crossed it will come!)

  • +1

The Tiggo 8 super hybrid was very impressive and even more so for the price. Full panoramic sunroof that auto closes when you step out of the car, close the doors and walk away with the keys.
Acceleration is very responsive too. Finish is much better than I expected and the centre touch screen is excellent. Unfortunately couldn't test pure battery mode as it wasn't charged up.

    • I drive fully ev and same like other ev cars with no engine noises.
But I hate the driving stick as normally that’s my indicator stick on the rhs and I keep mixed up.

      • The gear selector stick is the same as Mercedes so was used to it. Chinese companies like copying the Germans
