    $399 through Optus and unlocked?

      • yeah thanks I remember seeing it posted here b4. $399 for a 16GB 5S looks good for a senior like my dad who only uses the basic smart phone functions but I'm worried the IOS updates in a year or 2 will turn this into a not usable slow junk compared with iPhone SE that at least has the latest CPU/GPU and 2 GB RAM but will cost me $300 more. Tough decision.

Just buy the Optus one for $399, they don't come locked.

  • better price beat by OW :)

    • You sure..???
says at the bottom of the deal from Optus in the (Important note section) "Mobile phone is network locked. For unlocking fees see optus.com.au/unlock . No rainchecks."
Also stipulates that it comes in Space Grey only. Officeworks has it in Space Grey and Silver. So not really same deal.

      • no not sure. I should have put ? in the previous comment.

Lol, certainly no need for such harsh punishment!!
Was merely making sure deal was a deal.. All good… :)

        • @Filster83: I edited before I saw your comment, so no one else could ever see :)

      • I bought a 399 one from Optus, synced it with iTunes and Voila, unlocked: http://www.optus.com.au/shop/support/answer/how-to-network-u…
Next day shipping before 1pm order for Metro orders.

    NO DEAL

  • I can confirm with 110% certainty that the Optus deal for $399 comes unlocked;
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/246011

I purchased one on their interest free repayment option (They charge you $99.95 up-front then you get directed debited $99.95 every 14 days till the phone is payed off.)

Also comes with 24 month's manufacturers warranty. I have an email from Optus confirming this.

    • $100 every 14 days, that's steep.

      • +2

        steep if youre on newstart

        • Or a 7-11 worker?

          Ohhh, too soon?

  • Optus deal is better than OW.

  • Isn't this the normal price?

  • All iPhones and iPads from both Optus and Vodafone are unlocked. I purchased iphone from Vodafone and ipad form Optus - can confirm this from my experience.
I think Telstra sells them unlocked as well. Not sure, I recall reading this on another OzB thread.
So the Optus deal is definitely better.
