    Ouch getting expensive!

Handy if you fly Jetstar a bit (except in Melb where Jetstar is now several terminals & security screening away).

    • not very handy for a lot of Jetstar locations, not just Melbourne.

Quite often the lounges have opening hours that do not cater for Jetstar flights. 4 out of 5 Jetstar flights from Singapore for me gave no access to the Qantas lounge due to the timing. Has alaso happened in Launceston and would be quite common elsewhere.

Sydney is also pretty much useless unless you've got heaps of time to get from T3 (the qantas lounges) to T2.

Good discount but still hard to justify

If only i bought life membership back in late 90s

    Was around $2k from memory

They dont sell it anymore I believe

    • Wow those things exist? That's incredible.

Anyway what's the difference between this and Priority Pass?

      • Sure did, use it every time I fly with the Qantas Group. Got it even cheaper as they allowed my brother and I to buy a membership together (partners, its Qantas they permitted that sort of thing early on) so he got his for around $1500 (we then settled the difference)

        • So you just said you guys were partners and they said ok?

        • @Hirolol: Yep - It is Qantas thats always been ok (same sex)

        • @RockyRaccoon: incestual partners?

        • @insular: Hey dont knock it, after transgender, and intersex, this will be the next equal rights domain.

      • Problem is there's hardly any Priority Pass lounges here in Australia and Qantas has limited amount of lounges overseas that you can use the pass in.

        • Though access in LAX is now better

        • better off with a priority pass for international travel if you're doing a lot of it in one year. just make sure it doesn't renew and just rebuy a prepaid of 10 if you need it. i did this one year (and had one leftover than i never used). but it's decent if you need wifi, somewhere comfortable to sit and have some snacks and drinks. a lot of airports in europe CHARGE for wifi, so this helps.

sometimes the 'buy in' price is way more than PP is per visit. other times it's similar. depends on airport and country.

that and they don't care what airline you're flying with.

yeah they canned it 5-6 yrs ago.
The food's gotten worse, but now they've bought back the sandwich presses, a few ham & cheese toasties with 4-5 Dimples chasers makes a good excuse to get to the airport 3hrs early

      • I was there at the Sydney international business lounge last night and let's just say the crap they serve would be an insult to Neil Perry if it's really inspired by him. F Lounge on the other hand….but couldn't find anyone to guest me in there last night :(

    • Yeah. I bought three years membership for AU$300 back in 2000. I had the last 18 months od that membership suspended until early 2014 when I decided to stop flying so much and dropped back down to silver. Now gold again and thanks to the double status credit deal a few weeks back will be gold until 2018.

  • Domestic or international?

    • Should still be both. Also You can avoid the long economy line up in international

      • oh yeah that is the nice perk, being able to check in at business (I assume you still can), which in some airports gives you access to quicker screening & passport checks.

Make sense for those who flies a lot.
For 1-2 flights per couple per year, it may be cheaper to buy lounge passes on eBay.

Or the classifieds section on ozbargain!

If you're flying enough to make this a worthwhile investment then you'd probably be a Gold status FF and have free access to the lounge.

  • So…. if you figure that the going rate for a lounge pass is $50, then if you have five trips a year (so ten flights) on Qantas/Jetstar it's possibly worth it. Definitely if some of those flights are international. I sometimes also go into the lounge on arrival if I need to go to the bathroom (although in general I just want to get out of the airport plus if the lounge is busy they may say no - http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/qantas-club-mem…).

You also get a little extra luggage allowance on Qantas flights (domestic you can check in 32kg versus 23kg), dedicated check in (can be good if you're dropping off luggage), and you can bring in a guest with you (so if you travel with a partner/friend they can get in for free - in fact I've also taken my partner and three kids into lounges when going on holiday without any issue). Also keep in mind that if you travel for business, then you can also claim membership as a tax deduction (http://law.ato.gov.au/atolaw/view.htm?docid=AID/AID2002957/0…).

So I agree it's awfully expensive even with this deal but still think it can be justified, although obviously it's not for everyone!

  • Still pretty expensive..

The offer isn't targeted, just so you know - it's advertised on the Qantas homepage.

    • Thanks– removed.
