  • Anyone know if we can add these 2 years to existing current reg - bought the recent one & have 595 days to go before need to renew

    • +1

I don't think the key expires so just wait until yours has almost ran out before you use it.

  • there hasnt been any issues with these licence keys from saveonit ?

    • +4

No issues with license keys from saveonit from previous Ozbargain thread.

      • Yes there has, I purchased a windows 7 key off them and it deactivated, It wouldn't even phone activate, rang Microsoft and they said the key was blocked, licence came on a dodgy looking sticker that peeled off after a month, save on it won't give a refund.

        • The truth will always prevail.

I wonder why you haven't "won" in this situation.

Safe to say, there's more going on.

        • @Utopian:

Nothing more going on, stickers were dodgy, they said they wanted them back to refund as they know about the issue, Couldn't remove the stickers as I couldn't remove them from the cases without completely destroying them, could only take photo, they won't budge. Microsoft are onto it now so will see what happens, they are not retail keys etc.

No issues with security related software keys from SaveOnIT from the past

    • I got the 3 PC for 1 year for $10.20 a few weeks ago. The last deal never expired and I picked it up from the old thread. Keys are working fine and the email with keys was same day.

    • Bought Office 365 from them last year and no problems at all with emailing out the keys.

  • Got one same price few months ago. No issues. License delivered next day

    • Next biz day I assume?

      • +1

        it was

I can vouch for SaveOnIt delivering however I've installed Kaspersky on 2 of my PCs and they don't seem to automatically update the database on a daily basis unless you manually click on the update button and updating takes forever as well. I've searched online and this is apparently a common issue and whilst I've changed the update download source, its still not that much faster so updating the database will take around 30 mins usually to complete.

    • ill only accept a jv vouch… sorry

    • Bloody same problem here

      • I thought I was the only one. Very annoying. Will go for something other than Kaspersky when my licence expires.

        • +1

The haters are gonna hate… but Norton 360 Premier runs smoothly on Windows 10. Only using 10mb of memory out of 16GB.

  • Will the licences expire over a period of time if not used?

    • +2

They are all activated when the first key is used I believe. They all expire at the same time, used or not.

    • +2

on the bottom of the website shows:
      * During licence period. Licence period starts when you activate the product on the first PC.

      • +5

Than activate it on your 3rd then 2nd than 1st PC

  • Q1. Is it worth it to get this?
or just use the windows defender the same?

    Q2. I currently use bitdefender.
I created a login for my children to a computer.
This login will connect to bitdefender parental control so I set which websites that block or from category (example porn).
If my children go to a certain websites then it will block it.

I also receive a weekly report from bitdefender and I can login to parental control and check which websites that my children went to.

If I login under my username then I can browse freely.

Can this Kaspersky parental control do the same?

    • +1

Don't bother buying an antivirus or internet security. Plenty of endless trials on ozbargain. Also plenty of free alternatives that are fairly powerful. Windows defender sucks however in terms of detection rate. Can't comment on the parental controls however.

      My 2c:

Ive been using Windows Defender (+Malware bytes for the occasional diagnostic scan) only for the last 5-6 years on my desktop and laptop. I have never got a virus. Prior to that I used Norton which was terrible.

Honestly, since Windows 7 the inbuilt defender has been good, and that coupled with good habits and a secure browser (anything but IE) you are very unlikely to get anything, and no loss in performance.

      • +1

How do you know you have no loss in performance? Did you run it without to test? I say this because all of the independent testers rate it below other free options like Avira and Avast for performance (and much below for detection too). I think there's an assumption that because it's Microsoft, it doesn't affect performance but it does. I use Avira but it's super naggy unfortunately.

  • Can someone confirm, once they have applied to their existing subscription to extend

    • +2

Don't think you can. Cause you have to add the key and remove old one. Just like when you use trail key

  • Can you use a proxy to activate it overseas

  • Not sure if this is the same product or not, but it looks it and a little bit cheaper?

    • +2

Not after they add the cc charge even for paypal

  • What if I buy it now and activated after a year, do I get the 12 months from activation date?

    • +3

That should be fine. Just don't activate any. Once you activate 1 pc the whole 3 are activated

  • +1

Bought from them in Feb, for 3 IT newb friends. Installed on their machines. Running perfect since.

    Buying again, for family.

  • Has anyone used both Kaspersky and Eset Nod, and if so, how do they compare? I had some friends hyping Nod several years ago.

And if anyone sees cheap licensces for Eset products, please inform the rest of us. $9.50 AU/year for 3 pcs is great value, even better if you can split the costs with another party. Free antiviral products in my experience are poor, and are constantly alerting you with false positives which you then have to manually retrieve from quarantine.

    • +1

I've used both, much prefer Nod. But thats just personal opinion.

They both offer trials, cant hurt to try them both.

I'm using a 1yr free trial that was posted on here for nod32, but once it expires i'll go back to using windows defender.

    • +1

Had used ESET for many years but got kaspersky last year for a lot cheaper. If they were the same price I'd 'probably' choose ESET again though it's firewall can be a bit aggressive sometimes when trying to communicate with the other PC's in the house (I could also have the dumb?). Kaspersky has been fine and 'seems' a tad faster to me so I'll get this current deal too.

    • +1

I used ESET and it's preferably better in my opinion. I do however like the GUI of Kaspersky however, I use ESET NOD32 for my main PC, and then Kaspersky for all the spare PCs and Stream PCs I have.

    • I've used ESET over a very long time, with all our work machines. Before that, it was kaspersky. Mainly came down to price. All the other options, meh. At this price, this is the clear winner. I personally prefer ESET over all… but even with heavy discounts, it's still MUCH more expensive than this.

    • I manage many business's security and find NOD to be excellent but it costs at least 3 times as much as Kaspersky. I personally use Kaspersky and am quite impressed. I believe Kaspersky offers greater protection than most others on the market. I am not a fan of Norton or AVG. Have previously sold lots of Trend Micro which I still think is pretty good.

  • kaspersky is great but the latest edition is a bit of a slouch, even with auto update turned on it consistently tells me the database is out of date and everytime I turn on the pc I get a warning to "Update".

    Other than that, great product

  • I bought from megabuy earlier this week. Takes a few days for them to confirm who you are and email you the key but it is all good. I am a long time Kaspersky fan and it has saved me more than a few times (going to dodgy sites and downloading stuff) over the years when other antivirus programs have failed.

http://www.megabuy.com.au/kaspersky--key-only-email-3pc-2yr-… $18.88 Save a few cents with megabuy

    • +1

Works out to be a couple of cents more unless you pay by bank transfer

  • If you're running Kaspersky, you can't successfully download NetNanny (currently/as of 20/5/16 - a software clash, unsure if and when they will fix it.)
If you're running NetNanny software, Kaspersky may stop it working.

    • kaspersky has some parental control feature how does it compare to netnanny? have you tried opendns?

      • Thanks - I'll check it out, although I really liked the central control feature of NN (in fact I had bought NN and setup everyone's access levels etc on the desktop and started to download the NN software on a device only to find it wouldn't download. NN did refund me - as they don't mention the software clash on the purchase FAQ.)

  • Did anyone else have issues with the order? I ordered two days ago and I have heard nothing from SaveonIT. I checked my order status and its not even showing that I made an order, but PayPal is definitely showing me I sent payment, for the right amount and to the right seller.
