  • Free shipping, seems to be a reasonably priced deal. What are the chances it is compatible with a WDTV-Live? For $12.90 it's almost worth buying and trying…

  • how come this is up to 150Mbps? isnt wireless N 300Mbps?

    • This is a 1T1R mode devices.
So it's only up to 150Mbps.

      2T2R's up to 300Mbps.

      • -5

        Still not N

        • It is 1T1R. The rep. already indicated that.

A lot of the manufacturers are selling USB adaptors this way. 1T1R are being sold as wireless N. TP-Link and Asus also sell 1T1R adaptors as wireless N.

        • OMG!
          Quick!
Call up Today Tonight! Or ACA! Maybe even Dept of fair trading! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
Btw, while you're at it, get some brains along the way.

    • +1

well, not much to ask for a $13 adaptor…

    • -6

This is not genuine N. Falsely advertised.

This device is only certified B/G it doesn't meet N standards.

      Read my post below.

      • Gosh… how many posts do you plan to do on this…

        The rep. already indicated 1T1R…

Given the price, plus the likelihood that it will work on a number of media players (to be confirmed), it is a good deal.

You want a 2T2R for this price… then.. you need to wait.

  • Davo1111 - I don't see how it is a 'lot' to ask, the WDTV Live doesn't require extraordinary measures for USB wireless networking devices to be interoperable with it - in fact, that would surely be a significant selling point for this product if it was compatible.

I am aware of the WD-published list of compatible devices, however thank you for posting it up for the information of other community members.

WRT the product site, I am disappointed that the user registration seems to struggle with special characters in user passwords…

    • +1

hmmm i'm thinking your best bet is to google, or to flash your wdtv live with custom firmware called wdlxtv, and you might have a better chance of compatibility

      • I am currently running version 0.4.1.9-6 of WDLXTV, however I haven't read anything to indicate this firmware will increase any likelihood of compatibility with non-endorsed wireless devices. The proof will be in the pudding whenever I receive my delivery…

  • anyone know if i can just get random wireless adaptor or this for my samsung led tv?

    • No, I don't think so - you need to get the Samsung one.

  • got one, cheers, hope it works well on my Noontec A6 FULLHD media player… for 13 bux i cant complain if it doesnt… just use it on my PC.

  • Good Deal on a N USB adaptor. I havent see something as cheaper as this before.

  • Anyone know if this will work with linux (specifically Ubuntu)??

    • +1

The people selling it might. Read the friggin' linked page!
Or google the chip if you don't believe.

  • Seems like a good deal for 13 bucks delivered

  • just bought one to try out.

  • What the the read/write speeds for the usb drives?

    • We're not sure about the exact speed.

write speed should be around 3-6Mb/s (lower write speed on this usb flash, but it has higher read speed)
      read speed around 13-18Mb/s

Not a bad value for this read speed IMO :)

      Hope this help? Cheers

      • +1

Just to be clear, when you say mb, do you mean megabit or megabyte? If its megabit, then the transfer rate would be 375kb-750kb/s.

Could you please post the link too, can't seem to find it on the site.

  • Bought one just in case it would prove useful one day! :D

  • Hey, GoodBargain - I bought a 32GB SanDisk CZ36 CRUZER USB from your last deal (Paid on the 22nd late at night, so you would have processed it on the 23rd, I would have thought). When should I expect it? I was expecting it by yesterday, given the weekend and public holiday.

P.S. Posting on this deal because I figure you're reading this one.

P.P.S. It's showing on your website as payment accepted.

P.P.P.S. If you haven't shipped it yet, throw in something nice like a bluetooth dongle.

    • Hi

it will normally takes up to 2business day to process an order before we dispatch it.
As Australia Post- eParcel will not operate during weekend, so we do not dispatch our orders on Friday unless we have something urgent.
I believe we prepared your parcel, waiting for aus post to come by for collection.

      P.S. Ok, noted
P.P.S. Your status will be updated soon
      P.P.P.S. a mini-bluetooth dongle? :) i ll consider over it :P

      Have a good day, cheers

  • Does it work with ad hoc (computer to computer) network?

    • It's workable on computer-computer network.

As long you can connect it to your router, it will work.
Ralink chipset has this standard built-in features.

      Cheers

Guys this is not WiFi N Certified.

N 150 is not to made to the standard. This is why any router advertising N 150 does not have the 802.11n certification because it's just half of what N should be. This is also why all the N 150 devices and routers are only 802.11b/g certified.

    N is rated at 300.

Advertising N 150 as 11n is false advertising. The best you can advertise it at is N 150. You can't say 11n. It's not 11n.

It might run at 90MBPs which is fine - but you won't get the same range as proper certified 802.11n this goes for speed too.

The worst part is - this adapter is not guaranteed to work using the N protocol with all routers!!

-ve from me this is only b/g certified.

11n Wireless USB Adapter 150Mbps @ 12.90 Delivered! -USB Flash Drives Offer Continues

Asus sells similiar devices… Netcomm does it, Belkin also does it.

1T1R adaptors will work with wireless N routers.

Also, wireless N is not limited to 300 (2T2R). It can go up to 600 (4T4R).

Since you read articles written by Tim, you would know that he actually prefers 4T4R over 2T2R.

If you really want to follow Tim's recommendations, then you should get Wireless N 600 dual band devices, forget about wireless N 300.

Manufacturers are cutting corners. 2T2R probably will become the mainstream (due to cost reasons). 4T4R routers are expensive at the moment.

There is a good chance these Ralink 1T1R adaptors will work with certain media players… and those media players only support very limited number of wireless chipset. 1T1R crippled wireless N (or N-/G+ whatever you prefer to call it) still beats wireless G.

Guys read this article here it explains everything:

    http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30843/96/

  • Fyi, IEEE hasn't certify 802.11n yet :)
    It's still under draft mode.

Most of the e-store advertise in this way, with "11n"

Maybe i ll just edit the title to 11n(draft)

    Cheers

    • -4

GoodBargain: Fyi, IEEE hasn’t certify 802.11n yet :)
      It’s still under draft.

FYI This is wrong. 802.11n being a draft has nothing to do with n draft certification. Read the certification article here: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30804/100/

GoodBargain: Most of the e-store advertise in this way, with “11n”

So you are justifying your activity because other stores are also doing the wrong thing? That doesn't make sense.

GoodBargain: Maybe i ll just edit the title to 11n(draft)

Please read the article. The adapter you are selling is NOT 11n (draft). It is certified B/G only.
Do you know that your adpater is not guaranteed to work using the n protocol with all routers???
Read the YELLOW BOX in this article here: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30843/96/

      • Mate… about the yellow box, think about it…

Belkin is basically saying… you'd better buy Belkin products. That's expected. They would prefer you to buy Belkin products.

Draft N or N device compatibility… it is probably still a bit of a mess at the moment. It has nothing to do with 1T1R vs 2T2R vs 4T4R (or the Intel combinations).

Even if you get wireless N 300 devices, if they use different chipsets, there is a chance that you will not be able to get the best performance throughput.

      • Good one.
Netsurfer is right, if you're selling a car, would you say "oh, buy other parties' accessories for the car we sold you, they're better than the ones we sell"
Of course not, they'd go "I'm not too sure if those parts are compatible with this car.. these are custom made just for these cars, since they're the same branding, they are all compatible!" and obviously nudge you towards buying their own product.

" we cannot guarantee that competitors’ products are interoperable with N150 at N150 speeds. " - The awesome yellow box, important stuff pasted in here.
        You're pretty smart hey?
I'm sure Shell cannot guarantee that BP fuel are interoperable with your car at optimum speeds. If you have one that is.

        • That's fair enough but it's still not certified 11n draft - that's the main thing.

Can't advertise something as 11n (draft) when it is not 11n (draft).

    • +1

      Fyi, IEEE hasn’t certify 802.11n yet :)
      It’s still under draft mode.

This is incorrect, IEEE ratified 802.11n late last year. [http://www.ieee.org/about/news/2009/11september.html]

Labelling something as .11n "draft" is actually misleading in the sense that there were 11 drafts altogether - which version of "draft" would you be referring to?

Yeah, all these details are a hinderance when you want quickly move uncertified and unbranded boxes.

Bought 2 Wireless USB for my both my noontec A8 & A6, hope it work lol. Flash drive seem normal price on the 8Gb & 16Gb (a little cheaper same thing on ebay free delivered but longer to arrive). Some more bargaining GoodBargain :P.

  • its good price i ordered 2. i just wonder if wep will work? also if i decide to add 1 blue tooth usb dongle for $3.50 to the order can it be shipped in the same package saving me having to pay the $6 in shipping?

    • +1

      Hi

yes, we can do that for you. Could you please email your inquiry to
      [email protected]

      Cheers

  • So will this work a wireless usb b/g adapter?

    • Yes. as stated in "more info"
      It's B/G certified, N (draft)

      :)

      Cheers

  • Can anyone confirm if these work in MACS?
I have a flatmate moving in needing wireless on her old (2000 model) Mac, this could fit the bill.

    • Yes, works on MACS fine.

      cheers

      • Awesome, thanks very much :)

  • This is to make your home network wireless isn't it? If so, can you set password for the wireless network with this adapter?

    • vinhlong, this is for people who already own a wireless router (n), and want faster speeds for their laptop that only has a b/g wireless card built in (is a lower spec).

What you need is a wireless router.

  • Dirt cheap. plug n play type?

    • Yea, plug & play.

Only Win. XP require to install the drive from the CD.

      cheers
I'm one of the store rep

      • I puchased one of these from you guys this morning under the impression that I could just plug into my pc and be wirelessly connected. Am I able to plug into my desktop (win 7) or printer and access these through my laptop which has built-in wireless?

Can somebody please clarify as I am a little confused

        • Yes, if the printer is wireless, under the same group ip, it should able to configure to access the printer from the computer/laptop

        • You really should get a wifi router. Too complicated otherwise.
Does your printer support USB wifi dongles?? See specs for which chipsets.

        • No most wireless printers rely on the wireless router

  • if i was to get 2 .. and plug them into 2 computers and set them up with their own ip addresses … could i use this as a way to transfer files between the two without having to go through my normal 54mbps router?

could be a cheaper option for some new network setups at my place

    • if i was to get 2 .. and plug them into 2 computers and set them up with their own ip addresses …

Sure, that is called an ad-hoc network. You might need to learn a bit about networking though.
And it will not be at the same speed as an N-router. Only one antenna for a start.

    • you could setup for sharing on 1 computer so that the other computer could access, this doesnt need router to transfer file within this 2 computer.

      IP must be the same.
eg. xxx.xxx.xxx.yyy (the front 3 xxx must be the same in order to access to each other, yyy is unique for each device)

  • Stupid question coming up from a network n00b.

If I plug one of these USB keys into my PC that is connected to the net via Ethernet connection to ADSL modem, will my laptop (with Wifi) capabilities be able to surf the net? alternatively will I be able to hook up my PS3 and Wii to the net?

    Help appreciated.

    • You'd need a good computer to do that..
I'm not sure about vista + w7, but with xp, you need to go to internet connection sharing.
A heck lot of a hassle.
Seriously, just get a wireless router, much much easier.

    • For PS3 and Wii, you need router to do connection, maybe if you know how to set the configuration right on the PC with the USB wifi, it might also work (more complex). For laptop, it should not have problem to access using the sharing in PC using the USB key. Generally, USB Wifi is acted as router to function.

      Cheers

  • If i put this in my WD TV media player, will it be able to play movies from my computer wirelessly?

    • no, unless your wdtv has support for wireless sticks through the usb which i dont beleive it has

      • +1

ozhunter - if you are referring to the WD TV Live I will hopefully have the answer for you on the weekend (if my purchase is delivered tomorrow…)

        • I got 2 wd tv live so very interested if this will work with lastest wdtv live firmware.

Just a happy customer of GoodBargain. I am in no way associated with them (not shareholder, employee, supplier, dealer, etc) except a customer. I'd give them a positive just because they are so responsive here.

    • now that just sounds fishy

      • I think i live really close to you, lol.

        Carlingford? James Ruse?

Can i actually post something like this here? or must it be deal-related? xD

    • Thank you :)

  • n00b question, what are the uses of this Wireless USB adapter?

    • This Wireless USB Adapter will easily connects your USB-equipped desktop or notebook computer to your wireless network for Internet and file sharing.

  • Anyone know if this will work on the popcorn hour?

    • We are not sure whether it work on your popcorn hour devices as their products are sole propietary.

maybe it could function, but maybe not. This is not a standard machine :)

      Cheers

  • I have ordered one as it has the raLink chips, which is good with Linux, I believe.

But do I understand this correctly?
N150 is NOT 802.11n, it is a non-standard cut-down version, which may or may not be compatible with true 11n routers at a reduced speed.
I think adding "draft" to the title totally misses the point that people were trying to make.

Just call it N150 and everybody will be happy.

    • Ok, Noted :)
      Thank you.

    • Agree! N150 is fine. I'm happy with that.

But even though this is allowed - it's still purposely done this way to make people think they are getting 802.11n.

Similarly G+ had these problems too. Very annoying.

  • Great deal! I don't need this for my lappy but ordered 2 just in case, can use as a gift too :D

  • Noob question. I've plugged this adapter into my Astone AP-300. Do I need a router to access the Astone from my PC?

If I've got an OPEN824RLW modem router, will this do it?

    Cheers

    • It all depends on your Astone player firmware? :)

I believe some have tried it and it works fine on WDTV Live.
Should be compatible with Astone as well.

      Cheers

      • It "kinda" works on my WDTV Live … in that it connects to the network and gets an IP etc … but it is sooooo slllooowwwwwwwwww that it's unusable. In trying to stream a 350MB video file … it takes approx 2-3 minutes for the video to start playing and then only plays correctly for about 20 seconds.

It's the only USB dongle I've tried on my WDTV, so don't have another one t compare it too however …

FYI I tried it in my Astone AP-360T and it DID NOT recognise it …

  • So, this works just fine with WDTV Live - very happy with it so far!

  • yo haven't received my item yet ordered on friday morning

    • Hi,

it will take up to 2 working day to process your order before dispatch
We are overwhelmed with orders on this products.

Please allow us extra time to process :)
      Sorry and hope you understand.

      Cheers

      • I ordered on Thursday and am still waiting. Hopefully they get processed soon :)

  • don't think this deal has expired, it's still on their website and free shipping this week too (on other items too)

  • Argh! the SPAM has started, not even opt-out.

We don't wan't your friggin' unsolicited "newsletter" Victor.

  • anyone received theirs yet?

    • yep - see my post 10 or so comments up - got it mid last week.

    • not yet… payment accepted on 29/4, received "shipped" email on 6/5 but no tracking # so far.

  • Received item. But not working in windows 7. Device is detected but still not working. Any suggestions?? Probably a complete waste of money.

    • May i know what's the problem?
Why is it not working? any error msg?
I'm sure it works on Windows 7, i've one on my w7 desktop.

      • its not detecting any wireless network. The wireless network icon says its disabled. When i try to enable it, its still disabled.

        • It should be a plug & play device on Win7.
We encountered few similar problems in the past, it might be a faulty unit.

Any other laptop/PC with you? Can you try it on other devices?

We could have a warranty replacement for you immediately, please contact our staff through [email protected] for warranty issue :)

          Cheers
