Seems like a price error. A very good price for a pretty decent book by my favourite Australian writer, Matthew Reilly. For $3 buy it for the heck of it: you'll thank me later.

  • Waiting for pricing error cancellations… let the games begin :)

    • They're probably running low on cash this month ;)

  • Ordered, thanks!

When will someone write a book on the Five Greatest Bargainers? Free of course.

    • +2

TA, JV, EC, MM and ??
      No more than two letters….

  • +6

This might put them into administration a second time.

  • +11

Good book but it is the third in the series, following Seven Ancient Wonders and Six Sacred Stones - so you may be a little lost. Awesome series by awesome Aussie author.

    • +3

That is true. Borrow the other two from the library?

      • +8

Yep. Just thought i'd give people the heads up

    • are the first 2 important enough to read the first before this one?

      • +5

Yeah you should read them first in my opinion.

      • Not ultra super especially important, but it would be better.

        • +1

6 Sacred Stones ends with a cliff hanger doesn't it though?

        • @sjp1808:

thanks ordered the first 2 from the links below.

ah! OzB always does this to me! 3.95 ended up being 20 bucks! pretty good for 3 books though =)

hilarious how reviews on goodreads.com rail on his writing style, he's not a new york times bestseller for nothing though!

  • Ordered.. $3.. can't be that bad eh?

    • +5

Matthew Reilly is usually quite excellent

      • +2

Just realised it's the 3rd of a series.. are the other books a must read as pre-req's?

        • Yeah see haydent above.

        • +1

No wouldn't say pre-reqs. Just expect a little bit of referring back to past events

        • +1

I think they are. Doesn't 6SS end with a cliff hanger?!

        • +1

          @sjp1808:

Might borrow from the library first… never read the guy or read normal fiction… but i'm running out of decent sci-fi so there's a first for everything!

        • +1

@sumkp: Yeah do it. They border on sci-fi anyway. I've never read anything as fast paced as his books. Maybe start with 'Contest' for a sci fi fan, it's standalone

        • @haydent:
Yeah Contest is still my favourite book of his!

        • @sumkp:
Tried The Expanse series by James SA Corey?

        • @nafe: No but i'll look into him.. thanks. Churned through all the Iain Banks and Alastair Reynolds… have a few Peter Hamilton back logged.. done the early stuff of Gibson/Stephenson/Simmons.. Bought the first book of Kevin J Anderson series from a book fair to try.. there's 7? odd books there if it works out.. i've done Richard Morgan's sci-fi.. wish he'd go back to sci-fi.. it's what really made him.. not a big fan of his fantasy stuff… the Kovacs stuff is some of the best cyperpunk out there.

        • @sumkp:

I have all the Peter F Hamilton stuff, love it. I think there's a new book due October.

        • Get the first one here

      • +2

Usually? Surely you mean always? ;)

        • Agreed with you up until I remembered he wrote The Tournament

        • @hijupic:
I actually enjoyed The Tournament. :| I thought it was quite a refreshing change from the blood and violence he usually moulds his novels around.

    • Well I just got a notification saying my book shipped….

  • Ordered. Not sure if paying via paypal would mean easier refunds just in case.

    • It does.

  • The scarecrow is a better book, this is basically a continuation of his previous stories . I got tired of his same story. Retired spy tomb raider/ nathan drake saves the world with help of quirky friends

    • +4

To each their own. But I'm just hyped for the new book coming out this year: The Four Legendary Kingdoms!!!

  • -4

Over $10 with delivery, no thanks.

    • +2

      There's a free shipping code…

    • +1

Even at $10 this would have been a good price. Writing a novel is hard work.

  • +6

Ah Matthew Reilly, an action move in book form ;p

    • I've read most of his Scarecrow series, and while they are fun, it gets tiring after a while when the author uses the same prose and nouns/adjective over and over again…

      Good deal though!

  • +1

Nice one OP. Nothing beats Ice Station though!

    • +1

Ice Station was the first book I read of his and was the one that got me into Matthew Reilly when I was 16. I felt sorry for the sharks though ;)

      • Hell Island was my first foray into Matthew Reilly's stuff, I was hooked after that! :)

  • Nice find. Hard cover also.

  • lol thanks, upvoted and ordered.

love a page turning matthew reilly. hopefully it goes through.

  • -1
  • Ordered 3! Thanks OP! :)

    • No problem! Fingers crossed that they honour it though!

  • It does say 94% off so Id say its real.

    • Not necessarily. The site software probably automatically calculates that based on what some worker has entered for the price. So question is did some one stuff up?

      • Greenpossum always asking the real questions ;)

  • +2
    • wow pretty cheap also

  • +1

Have been reading Matthew Reilly since 2001 (Area 7). While he's not the most technical author, his books are undeniable page turners and thrilling from start to finish.

    • +3

And he's great for getting teens into reading. See exhibit A: me.

      • Or pre-teens! Exhibit A: me.

        • Lucky you! :)

  • Thanks a lot. The price is too good. Thanks a lot for the free shipping code. I have ordered two more books. Altogether $25.

    • Cheers! Credit has to go to monty.melb though for the code.

  • Can't get the free shipping code to work, it says its been applied but the price doesn't change? Anyone getting the same?

    • +1

I just double - checked again and it worked for me? Maybe try typing the code in manually or use a different browser?

  • +1

I think Ice Station is still one of his best.
    Highly recommended.

  • 6.20% cashback with cashrewards

    • I don't think the orders will track as one of the conditions for the cashback to come through is that the coupon code must be on the CR site (and its not). Will update post anyways.

  • Thanks, I've read ice station which was good. Hopefully this one goes through.

  • I really like Matthew Reilly's stuff, just downright engaging & fun easy reads. Also worth noting that he offers his short stories as free downloads from his website: http://www.matthewreilly.com/the-novels

  • Annd its expired good game guys!

    • To be clear it now shows "notify me" with a price tag of $49.99

  • Out of stock now

  • Definitely going to get ozbargained, but I love his books, so will probably buy it anyway.

  • My order got cancelled and refunded :(
Email says that they ran out of copies
