Which courier you are using? Vodafone?

Also do you able to give Ozbargain community more discount as this is more like advertisement to me.

For $10 Optus start pack selling in Woolworth this week you get 3GB + talk and txt.

    • +3

      Hey LoveBargain,

The TeleChoice mobile network uses part of Telstra's 4G and 3G mobile network.

The above plans are post-paid, not pre-paid starter packs. You can get the same inclusions month in month out without having to wait for special details or new signup specials.

We reckon our $25, 4GB plan is definitely something Ozbargainers might be interested in :)

Does Vodafone do courier service? I'm assuming they use auspost

      • -1

        I'm assuming they use auspost

Just had one of their drones deliver today.
        pretty quick too

        • -2

          Troll much

        • +2

          Hey Snappy & Bghunter.

We haven't got into the market of drone delivery just yet ;) we use standard Australia post for our mobile broadband SIMs.

        • +1

          @TeleChoice:

          Thanks for playing along :)

  • Do you have access to the Telstra 4GX network? That might be one reason why people would opt for Telstra, as prepaid rates are $30 for 3GB, or even as low as $10 if you buy the sims on special at Harvey Norman.

    • +5

      Hey Kwchaz,

Not at this stage - our speeds are capped at 100MB/s (which we still think it pretty fast!)

      • +6

        100MB/s or 100Mb/s?

        • +4

          Ay
          My money's on Mb

        • I did a speed test using fast.com and I was getting 59mbps in Perth CBD… if that helps

        • +3

          Sorry all!

          100Mb/s not 100MB/s.

  • +1

Nice. I'm going to switch from Spintel.

    • +1

      Hey Vivasawadee,

Great news :) Let me know if you need any help signing up.

  • +1

Can I upgrade to this from an existing telechoice plan?

Edit - oops, didn't see this was a broadband only plan.

    • +1

      Hey Keyman,

No worries :D I didn't have a solid answer to this question otherwise. If anyone wants to change their SIM only to a mobile broadband plan, please email [email protected]

  • Rep, I'm currently on a Telechoice contract that is due to expire early next year. Any chance I could upgrade / whatever to this plan instead?

    • +1

      Hey Stubo,

It's going to depend on the plan you're currently on. The configuration of mobile broadband is different to sim only, so the transfer process isn't as easy as doing a plan change. If you can email [email protected] i'll see what I can do :)

      • +2

OH, I was thinking a mobile plan :) Sorry.

  • +1

What is the best and cheapest 4g access point I could use with this sim?

    • Hey Mikedavis67,

I'm not exactly sure how to answer this question. Are you looking for info about where we have 4g? If so, check here https://www.telechoice.com.au/our-mobile-network

    • You can sometimes snag a Telstra 4G lite pocket Wi-Fi pretty cheap… Coles/Woolies sales? Dick Smith had some right till they closed, but too late for that.

      • Perfect, thanks!

        • You're in luck! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/249165

          $25 @ Coles right now.

It's not the fastest, and no 4GX. Cheap option. I think I max out around 30/30 in Chatswood (S7 gets 70). The good ones seem to all cost $100 :(

(I assume it works across all Telstra MVNOs? That's how phone carrier locks work but dunno about these broadband things. Could call up Telstra to ask.)

        • +1

          @elusive:

Do you know what the benefit of this would be over simply tethering from a phone?

        • +1

          @illumination:

Personally, I do this because my phone is on a different SIM (TPG grandfathered). If you have an old phone lying around, you could use that.

It's also a bit smaller than most phones, though also a bit thicker.

Battery life… would depend on the phone, and your usage.

I bought it cause at $25 w/ 2 GB data it was a cheap way to get some Telstra data.

        • @elusive: well as the rep said their network dosent have 4gx so its ok…..

        • @cdaddy:

It's still significantly slower (as tested on Telstra prepaid) than the 100Mbps the rep claims. I suspect just a slower/cheaper LTE modem inside. Good enough for those who are happy with the lower speed.

  • Just to confirm, does this only include data? No calls/sms I presume.

    • Hey Puzzels2,

Yep, Just data and incoming calls/text. No outgoing on our mobile broadband SIMs.

  • Hi Rep,

I'm on the live starter 20 plan already. Am I able to get upgraded to this?

    Thanks.

    • Hey Lenny,

This is a mobile broadband SIM, so it doesn't come with any outgoing calls & text. If you're still keen to try and switch, please email [email protected] and i'll see what I can do :)

      • Ahh ok, I missed that part. Thanks for the reply.

  • +8

Just switched our mobile plans to Telechoice after years of 'no bar' rubbish reception at home with Optus. 3 bars now. Thank you Telechoice (and Telstra) .. :-) .. !!

    • Hey Cornucopia,

You're welcome! Great news about the reception :)

  • +1

Can I receive text message with this when I am overseas?

    • +3

      Hey Maxii,

Nah, you won't be able to receive text while overseas. You'll need to consider international roaming (not avaialable on mobile broadband) or an international SIM for that.

  • +1

Any chance of better value for the mobile plans. I currently have the old $20 plan but need to change to a new LIVE plan to use 4G but the $18 plan is not good enough and I do not wish to pay $28 for the next plan. I have an ALDI sim to jump onto their $20 plan but would prefer to stay with Telechoice if they were to offer a comparative package.

    • Hey Vermin76.

You can change to our LIVE $20 if you want to keep the same plan :) https://www.telechoice.com.au/live-plans

      (Only available to existing customers)

      • +2

1GB of Data is just not enough.

        • +1

I am in same boat as Vermin

battling to keep under 1GB. If my son gets my phone I run out of data a few days before month ends.
$30/month with an extra GB credit seems not to be best value..

  • +1

Be weary of TC. I used them for about a year and after two months, my data usage was reporting close to double.

My daily usage and device had not changed. I had all the usually suspects turned off (i.e. auto updates etc).

From memory, at one stage, I was shown to have downloaded over 4GB in a three hour period. I doubt my 3G phone at the time could have even transferred that much if I asked it to.

TC were horrendous to deal with in terms of saying vs doing. Supplying info. Etc. It took me hours and hours over many days.

End result was going through the TIO and moving to another network pronto.

My opinion - well, you know that already.

    • +1

      Hey GaelicAU,

We've done a lot to improve our data reporting capabilities over the past year. We now have live usage alerts, the ability to check your usage from your handset and $10/GB data top ups.

I am sorry for the bad experience you had in the past though.

  • I'm still waiting to get 4G connectuon for one instance. I've been in Melbourne exhibition centre for 3 days, not even once

    • +1

What device are you using? Might not support the required bands?

      • My guess is G2.

        • Surely he uses a tablet or modem though?

Why use a phone if he cant make calls or send texts?

        • @cheesecactus: True, the fact this is a deal for mobile broadband left my mind somehow.

    • Hey Jamesx,

What device are you using and what plan are you on? All our LIVE customers in 4G areas with 4G handsets should be able to use 4G by now.

      • +1

I can confirm I have 4G with my Telechoice (phone) connection.

    • Was I right? :P

  • And if people need more data than that and have signal with optus, cant beat $40pm for 12gb with Virgin

  • +2

What is this doing on OzBargain???

    • +1

      Exactly what I was thinking.

  • -5

After my contract finished, I port out to Telstra from Telechoice, Telechoice Charged me for 2 more months without any explanation

    • Just a warning guys… I found the customer service to be really poor. In my case, I was charged 1 month extra at the end of my contract even though I had switched over my mobile number to Telstra. Tried calling Telechoice but was in the queue for over half an hour numerous times. Tried emailing but received no replies. In the end, just gave up as couldn't be bothered anymore. I guess you get what you pay for. Telstra prepaid has been excellent for me.

  • +1

Seems like a really good price. If your family/friends/significant others are using the same platform, you can do VOIP calling as well. My family are all using iPhones so with the widespread coverage of fast Telstra 3g/4g we normally FaceTime Audio instead of call. Quality is much better as well than normal calling, even better than VoLTE imho. Most social media apps can do this as well e.g., WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, FB messenger, etc.

    • Hey Epicttiimm,

Exactly :) Given that it has incoming call and SMS we think it could be suitable for people (like yourself by the sounds of it!) who have moved away from traditional forms of text and calling.

  • Still waiting for some better plans with phones included. The oppo ones you have don't really interest me. Love telechoice though. Been using it for just over 2 years now. Saved me heaps! My phone is getting a bit tired though and may have to go to another carrier:(

    • +1

      Hey Jimmej,

We don't have any plans to have other handsets on plans at the moment, but if you can, its often cheaper to buy an outright handset with a SIM-only plan (and you also won't be locked in for 24 months).

  • +1

    Good deal. Will consider.

  • +2

    Prefer 10GB from optus @ $35

  • +1

OP, looking at your t&c, credit card payment is a mandatory for online applicant and all credit card payment carries 1.6% processing fee? That means if I'd to go $25 plan, I have to pay an extra $0.40? Anyway I can avoid that? Otherwise, its definitely one factor to consider joining this plan (afterall, this is an OzBargain!)

    • Hey Cloudie9,

You can also set up a direct debit which has no surcharge :)

Also - if you pay your bill manually before the due date you wont be charged

  • +1

    nice deal

  • Does anyone know if I can use this and a long-expiry sim (for outgoing sms and calls) on a dual sim phone, with this sim being the one for data? Thanks

  • +1

Good deal for data, would have jumped if it included calls and SMS.

  • +1

Vodafone Currently has the same deal for the $20 Mobile broadband and $30/4GB. But if you do a 12 month plan u get more and if your an existing customer you get double month to month on your plan with Vodafone so it's been out for awhile.

Good to see other telco's on the $10/GB aswell.

But props to OP for the deal post.

  • Rep, how does your service differ from a Telstra Business Data Plan?
How much for excess usage, can there be a data pool across a group of services etc, coverage etc?

    • Hey Dontreadthis,

Excess usage is $10/GB (max 10 data packs).
We do not currently have the facility to data pool.
Coverage might differ slightly, its always best to refer to our coverage map - https://www.telechoice.com.au/our-mobile-network

We use part of Telstra's 3G and 4G mobile network

  • +1

Virgin (optus network) is $30 for 6GB or $40 for 12GB. No lock in contract, unless you want a wireless modem, in which case it is free on a 12 month contract.

  • didn't know 'Telechoice' still existed! Even telco's aren't as big as they used to be anymmore…

    • Hey LYRICALRAVER,

We do still exist :) And you'll be sure to here more about us in the coming months.

  • What exactly does "part of Telstra's 3G and 4G mobile network" mean. Is it a restriction on coverage or bandwidth or both compared to Telstra???

    • Hey Turbodude,

That statement is esentially used to distinguish the Telstra retail network from the Telstra wholesale network (which is what we use :))

For more info on our coverage, check out our coverage map - https://www.telechoice.com.au/our-mobile-network

(also, our 4G is capped to 100Mb/s)

  • +1

"Need more data? Excess data on both of these plans is just $10/1GB (max. 10)."

Dangerous having excess data charges for an MBB plan considering data usage often doesn't update for 24 hrs. I can see people streaming YouTube not realising the delay then BOOM $50 excess.

I'd much rather have it cut off automatically with the option to purchase extra data.

    • Hey Marc86au,

Our usage alerts are in real time :) (although just to be safe, we normally say up to 5 hours) Also - the $10/GB data packs take a second to be added onto the service. You'll get the alert letting you know before its actually added on.

If you want, we can also switch it off.

  • Hi Rep,

Noticed that the first month is pro-rata depending on when the plan is activated. I couldn't find any information about billing date, is it the 1st of each month or does it work differently depending on the customer?

    • Hey Systema,

Your first months payment for the access fee is pro-rata, but your usage is not.

To give you an example - If you sign up today, your billing cycle will be 27th - 26th. If you don't activate until 15 days after you sign up, you'll only pay 1/2 of the access fee, but you'll still get a full months allowance :)

There is no pro-rata when you cancel, so you pay up until the end of your last month.

  • Hi telechoice… is this offfer over ? Looking for a data plan and keen to sign up for the rates on this deal if still avaliable

    Thanks !

    • Hey SmiTTy,

Yes, this offer has now ended and unfortunately the old rates are no longer available. Keep an eye out for specials in the future though!
