  • I've got this DSLR and it's awesome - I got the twin lens kit (18-55 and 55-200) though. Really easy and simple to use with some good features.

  • Did it come with lens for the price?
It said was $700 and now $699 LOL.

    • nah thats just my crappy blackberry camera, think it was like 799 comes with a single VR lense :)

      • +1

You 'crappy' crackberry camera photo shows it comes with a single Non-VR lens. :)

Hmm please note this is an old discontinued product.

If you dont mind importing from HK, and not having australian warranty, you can have the current updated model that replaces the D60 delivered plus 18-55 lens kit delivered for cheaper than this deal.

    http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProd…

I bought a D5000 from them and their price is as low as you can go, and their service is really fast and efficient. would recommend

    • nice!

but not AU delivered, cant go into a shop and grab it…

most things are cheaper imported… whats the price of shipping to Australia?

i don't mind importing, but no Australian tax invoice, no australian warantee…

guess people just need to weigh it up.

    • I agree. This deal is ok, but I always buy cameras and other electronics from Hong Kong (relatives live there) and they're cheaper. And the shops in HK usually willing to throw in a lot of free accessories when you buy. (tripod, memory cards, screen protector, bags, etc)

    • hey Kaizer
      i'm looking at getting a 70-200mmVrII
and have see this site before but was unsure about them.
certainly their price is the best i have seen…even if i import one from Bh in the USA it works out more expensive.

and also lenses do come with 1yr international warranty.

      • I ordered the D5000 2 weeks ago on Monday. Paid by direct deposit to their australian bank account same day. Received shipping and tracking notification on tuesday. Got camera on wednesday afternoon. The package was very very well shrink wrapped, took a while to upwrap it, and they threw in a free AUS adapter (since its jap import). So was very happy with their service.

They use FEDEX shipping, mine was about $60 AUD. Even with shipping cost, the total final cost was much less than anything in australia. Use the code FR510 at checkout for $10 off shipping

        • only concern is it's over the $1000 you can import and don't want to get hit with tax.
i notice they have an Oz contact number might give them a call and sus it out

          • @bbourizk: check out this post on whirlpool. not sure if it was a one off or their usual practice lol
            http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1133148&r…

more discussion on the store on WP:
            http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1389942

It really depends, if the import tax + cost of item + shipping is much less than what you could get here in AUS…maybe worth considering

            • @Munificent: thanks kaizer
              the difference is substantial
best i can get is $3100 in sydney
and from DWI 2550 shipped difference can go to a nice lens.
spoke them and the guy said they can put the value of the lens under 1k and certainly on whirlpool many have had good service and success with them
              thanks again

              • @bbourizk: Just remember that false declarations can land you and the seller with a fine (however unlikely the probability of it happening is), and that customs can and do internally assess the value of product on occasion.

              • @bbourizk: European camera in Drummoyne are selling the 70-200 VR2 for $3050.
Go to them and try to haggle. Bruce or Phil sometimes might give you some discount if they are in a good mood :)

If you are going overseas or have an ABN, it'll work out to be around $2700.
For the 70-200 VR2 , I would stick to some pro dealer that know their stuff.

  • Great starter dSLR camera, but not necessarily a fantastic deal. In some ways, it's very similar to the newer Nikon D3000:
    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond3000/

Ryda has the D3000 kit from $679, or $709 with the VR lens.
    http://www.ryda.com.au/Nikon-All-Model-Digital-SLR-Cameras-s…

I put up Ryda there from staticice as the cheaper ones may not be sourced from Nikon Australia to compare like with like.

  • don't think this has the body in motor cutting out a large proportion of lenses you can use

  • I have brought the same camera with same 18-55 lens in Dec 2008 for 699 from Teds. btw its a pretty nice camera

  • I know it says in your profile but in the description or title you should put in which city CBD store you saw it at.

    • opps sorry didnt even think of that, as there is one one cbd for me!
