Actually this is a 374 days trial license, all you need to do is download the AVG IS 2016 installer from below links according your system configuration (32-bit or 64-bit) and use the license code.

Sorry no expiry date given by that site. Not sure if existing AVG users need to uninstall their old one or not.

  There is no single AV product that protects you from all the nasties, you need at least two to catch most, but still not all. Having said this I've used AVG Free for years and not had any issues, even picks up stuff I don't want it to :)

  One of my mates recently had the CryptoLocker virus and AVG detected it and cleaned it. In the 30 seconds it took him to respond to AVG's detection, it took out a number of folders. He would have lost years of business data.. yes his backups had not been working for some time. Trend Officescan Corporate had failed to stop Cryptolocker in one other instance, so +1 for AVG for this at least.

    How do you know you haven't had any issues? What if you had something but your AV didn't pick it up? Not all malware is obvious.

    That's normally something that's undesirable.

    I'm pretty sure that even if you uninstall AVG there are remnants left that won't allow you to pretend you are first time user.
