Will pull the trigger if it was BES980.

    Wish I'd struck when it was $699 at Hardly Normal's recently… :/

    • Yeah that was a cracking price. $999 is still ok, but is encroaching on other, arguably better non-appliance coffee machine price territory (like an Oscar, or a LeLit).

      • This price would be more appealing if it included the smart grinder…

        • Indeed.

        • Pretty sure it has the smart grinder. From myer website:
          Features:
15 Bar Italian pump with low pressure pre-infusion and regulated maximum extraction pressure pressure to the shot. A true commercial feature.
PID controlled Dual Boiler with Actively Heated Group Head
          220 - 240 Volts
          2 Year Repair
          Includes Smart Grinder BCG820

        • Not for $999, the one comes with the smart grinder cost $1359.

        • @charzy: Well spotted, I'll bet they'll claim it's a typo/copy-paste error from the days the two were paired…but since it's in black & white, you'd have pretty fair leverage to get them to pony up if you pressed the issue hard enough! ;)

        • @StewBalls:

Tried getting this at Myer last night…spent about 15 minutes arguing with floor staff, who later spoke to their manager.
The code BCG820 does not register in store as stock..they only have the BCG820SS loaded in the system.

After all that..they only offered me a 20% discount on the grinder…which they didn't even have in stock!

        • Saw in the hardcopy Myer catalogue today that it specifically said "no grinder included"…I think the online is a typo…wonder how long it will take for them to correct it? The sales lady was a bit confused as she thought it did include it as well (this was in Castle Towers by the way)…

  • got one for $699 during last harvey norman sale, it is definitely the best machine for homemade coffee under $1500 range

It certainly should be considered by anyone who is thinking of spending this amount of coin, as it is a great - indeed the best - machine especially at the ~$700-$800 price point.

At the $1000+ (and heading towards $1500) though, I'd rather an Oscar mkII, a La Pavoni Lever (if you can dig the that style of coffee making) or a VB Piccolo, for example. The BES920 is heading out of its depth at that level.

    • Yes same here, great bargain and the ca$h back was very quick.

The BES920 feels like a machine that won't break down too quickly. Great extraction and I have come to love the duel boiler.

    • just wanted to ask when the sale was on?

Wishing for a Oracle at sub $1k…

      Wait until Xmas.

  • Judging by comments on the coffee snobs forums, something like a Rancilio Silvio M5 might be a better deal at about $850-870(ebay). My procrastination will be the death of me. At least I won't have to decide on a casket.

    • But the Breville looks MUCH MUCH better.

  • Had one of these for a couple of years now. Fantastic machine and definitely worth considering, especially when bundled with the Smart Grinder.
