  • Anyone know the best sign-up deals to get bonus Krisflyer points?

    • +3

Yeap Amex Platinum Charge Card. be prepared to fork out $1200 in annual fee.

  • How strict are they about the minimum annual salary ?

    • Not too strict when I applied for my Signature (but that was a while back and it was still within 10% of the min.

    Still getting 404 :(

    • Citi has been made aware that the link isn't working for everyone, you can contact 13 24 84 to apply over the phone.

  • any limitations for existing citi customers?

    • +1

What do the terms and conditions say?

      • a tiny box fit for nobody's eyes where I could not locate said answer ;)

      • From the T&C's: New cards customers only

  • yeah I got same question, if you are an existing signature card (non QFF) holder with the annual fee waived, are you still eligible for this offer and will you still get the 70,000 points?

From the T&C's: New cards customers only

  • Thanks for the replies! Good offer for those eligible!

  • thanks, shall apply.

So, I have the Qantas American Express Platinum card and wonder whether I am still eligible to get the bonus Qantas points?
    Cheers

    • +3

Why not? Citibank and Amex are 2 different institutions.

  • I've never considered Citibank for a credit card before, are they any good? How is their internet banking site/app?

    • +1

Their online banking is pretty modern…for something produced 20 years ago.

      • their online banking and mobile app is terrible :(

    • They are up near the top of world rankings of International Banks, but being pushed down mainly by Chinese banks. I have been dealing with them for many years, and am happy with both their phone service and their web site.

hmm tried two browsers still getting the 404 error code - any comments?

I filled out the VEDA link in first page posts. Got this:

0% p.a. for 24 months on balance transfers and a $0 annual fee in the first year. You will also receive 2.5 additional rewards points per $1 of domestic spend for the first 3 months
with the Citi Rewards Platinum Card

I currently have ANZ Black FF card. Looking to cancel in July when the $425 is due. Anyone manage to get this waived by threatening to cancel?

Am getting 1.5 QFF points on the Amex, 0.75 on the VISA. If I cancel I can't seem to find anything with same/better earnings without getting separate cards and exorbitant fees. Anyone find something comparible?

    • +1

      @DanMar
Last friday, I tried to get ANZ to waive the fee for Black FF card which was due for renewal on the 26th June.
I have been with ANZ for over 30 years and had spent over $122k in the 12 months that I had the card, but the CSR wouldn't budge and said it was policy as I had received the bonus QFF points. So I told him to camel the card and he was happy to do that.

As for alrernatives; NAB have a QFF card which earns 1.5 on AmEX, but only 0.5 on visa. $250 p.a. Fee
Westpac : 1.5 on AmEX and 0.625 on MC. $395 pa fee
Special promotion of the $0 annual fee in the first year is for existing Westpac customers who apply via westpac.com.au and click on the Westpac customers 'Apply now’ button. New cards only. Offer ends 6 July 2016. See 'Things you should know' section below for this promotion's terms and conditions.

Just open a savings a/c and you should be able to get this card for free for the 1st year.

Personally I use a separate visa card whenever AmEx is not accepted that earns 1point per dollar spent. (Qudos Bank)

  • Can anyone confirm whether they had to prove their income? Or was it automatically accepted if you met the 75k limit

    • In the past I had to send previous 3 payslips or most recent ATO Tax Assessment.

Has anyone tried applying to see if they can get the 70k Qantas points even as an existing customer?

  • +2

Just applied over phone. Just in case anyone wondering I have been a citibank account holder with normal debit card (not credit) and this was ok to apply. My question is for the 3 g spend in 3 months. I will be working overseas with no real costs coming up so need some other way of getting it done. Has anyone done the old refundable flight? if so how long before i can get a refund more or less. Also i remember someone talking about with Citi you can write a cheque to yourself. What was the story with that, is it a purchase?
On another note if anyone wants to know you have 90 days to do balance transef. So you can spend the 3k then apply (or otherwise you dont get interest free days if you already have balance transfer).

  • Does anyone know till what day is deal available?
I am contemplating on signing the deal at a later date just to spread out the time period for signing these points deals.
    Thanks

ohh, found the answer in fine print in the box

It is shown in the OP, every deal has the expire date in the same spot.

  • getting the Technical Error Code: 404
anyway around that without applying on the phone?

  • I didn't see a spot to enter the frequent flyer number on the application.

    is this normal?

    • +1

      It's entered at card activation

    • I had to ring citi and have my QFF number added manually. This triggers an annual $49 rewards fee.

  • Can I use this oversea like the Citibank Debit without exchange rate charges?

  • i hate the applications that call you to confirm details. not a good sign if they do.

  • Are there any referral bonus points that could be combined with this deal?

  • Got nervous I haven't yet been charged the $49 fee and accumulating Rewards points, so I gave Citi a call. Apparently I hadn't been properly opted in, despite doing so at activation. The operator claims to have fixed this for me now. It's quite likely we just switch to Qantas at the end of the month. Maybe see what happens early July before calling?

Your points will automatically be transferred to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program each month
This program has an annual fee of $49 in addition to your card's standard annual fee
    https://www.citibank.com.au/aus/credit_cards/qantas_rewards.…

I was told the 70K points will be processed on the 4th month, and will appear on the 5th statement. Might want to set a reminder….⏰😴

    • 70K bonus points on my 3rd statement today. The initial spend I made in the first month didn't count because they didn't opt me in to Qantas rewards correctly the first time. So I had to spend double and also lost my Citi Rewards points I had otherwise earnt.
      Adios Citibank!

Offer extended to 30th September so no rush for those still meeting spending requirements on another deal. I don't know how to amend the expiry date on the OP.

    • +1

      You Report it.

  • +1

Received my 70k on my first statement, met $3k requirement 2 days before. Very happy.

    • same, points arrived 1 or 2 days after the statement was issued

  • Received my 70k on 2nd statement :)

  • received my 70k on 1st statement, met $3k on last day, the 70k points came the very next day. never been this fast with other banks

  • How long did it take to receive the card from date of application?

    • Here's my timeline mate.

      22/08 - Application submitted.
28/08 - Received call from Citibank who wanted to clarify some information.
      01/09 - Application approved.
13/09 - Received card in the mail.

      • How did you first find out that you were approved? I received an sms saying that my application has been finalised amd that I should receive the outcome in the mail. I wonder of that means it has been declined?

  • +2

Since I have got my points I no longer have a user for this card. I already have benefits such as priority pass, insurances, etc from other cards.
I rang Citibank today to cancel the card, they offered to reimburse my annual fee of $99 if i kept the card.

I took the offer and now intend to cancel before the fee is due again next year.
I got these bonus points for $49!

    • What's stopping you closing the card as soon as the $99 credit hits?

      • nothing, dont feel like pushing my luck.

  • Citibank have said that I didn't qualify for the 70,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points because part of the $3,000 that I spent on the card was a BPAY payment - and that BPAY payments don't qualify. It has been more than 90 days since I opened the account, so too late.

Additionally I found out about a month into having the card that I was not enrolled for Qantas Frequent Flyer points because I had to ask for that separately. Even though I told them on the phone when I opened the account that I wanted the account with the bonus QFF points. All the points that I had accrued were lost when I transferred over from Citi Rewards to QFF.

I have closed the account. What a waste of $148.

    • Yep, T&Cs do say that. I have to chase where mine are.

Purchases refers to any Retail Purchase which is made by the use of a Card or any other means permitted by Citibank, excluding transactions by way of Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, fees, purchases of foreign currency and travelers cheques, foreign exchange and ATM/ Bank charges, interest charges, finance charges, government charges, payments to the Australian Taxation Office, insurance charges, payments to Citi loan accounts (mortgage etc.), BPAY payments, purchases in excess of limits on the Account, transactions made in operating a business

Edit, called and got told what the T&Cs say - Bonus Qantas Points will ordinarily be credited within 6 - 8 weeks of meeting spend criteria.

      • What do they mean by 'government charges'?

  • +1

+1 for making the minimum spend and then being told I have to add QFF number again. Bit of a scam.
