Im not sure how to upload the image so you'll have to trust me on this one. Sorry this price isn't as good as the $6 pink ones I posted last week, still far more reasonable than $17. As always check for cracks and the sweet burnt caramel smell indicating the plastic had been over heated and will likely crack.

    No deal.

50L Australian Made Award brand clear tubs with locking handles and wheels for less than $8 at Bunnings.

I think the Starmaid ones are tougher than the Award ones.

Australian made Icon ones at Officeworks 2c cheaper, $7.98:

    • Need a "choice consumer" showdown comparing toughness.

Why do you think they're tougher? I bought about 20 of the award ones a few weeks ago and they're storing crockery, to bottles of plonk to snowgear and a heap of other stuff. Pretty ruggard.

If you compared them in person, you'd know.

I bought about 20 of the award ones a few weeks ago… Pretty ruggard.

You'll see, when you are re-stacking them and accidentally drop one from 2cm onto the lid of the one below.

You'll also see when you try to roll your Award ones in a few weeks, and find that the centre has drooped down and is dragging on the ground.

You'll see, when in about a year the plastic is so brittle that just an accidental bump is enough to crack them.

You'll also see that no matter what, the Award lid locking handles DO NOT lock. The only way to make these stay locked when moving them (and even when just stacked) is masking or electricians tape.

I have about 50 Award, and equal number of others. Every time I buy Award ones, I add a few extra lids… I suggest that you start building your collection in advance, as you'll need them soon.

        • Are you talking about the brand from a few years ago or today?

"Every time I buy Award ones, I add a few extra lids… "

Is that because the lids are not so great? Perhaps don't buy that brand rather than stealing lids.

        • @tommyc:

I am talking about AWARD, not Starmaid.

        • @jdr:

Is that because the lids are not so great?

Both the lids and the bases are not so great.

Perhaps don't buy that brand rather than stealing lids

The way that I look at it, I pay them for replacement bases that should be replaced under warranty. LOL

Starmaid are far better than anything else available. I probably have 30 of them…some stacked 4 high with heavy contents. Basically indestructible.

The Stairmaid, EzyStorage and Useful boxes are the best and generally why they are most expensive. We have used so many cheap brands. They work well for a few years but then start to crack when handled 'normally'.

    • Yes and the wheels fall out etc.

Managed to get many of my Starmaid 52l for around $7 each from previous sales at Woolies, Masters price matching etc.

hmm it shows $17? Furthermore, the clear ones are hard to find. I rang 3 BiGW stores and they only have purple. arghh!

  • I just bought 60L wheeled containers for 9 bucks each at kmart

    • So what? I bought some new thongs at Kmart.
