Cooler Master Mechanical Keyboard - Cmstorm Quick Fire XT (Cherry Red) - $57 (Was $129.95) @ EB Games (In Store)

1080

Was hunting for a Cherry Brown mechanical keyboard for work and found this on the EB website:

This has previously been advertised for $68 here. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/178474

Not going to get them as they are cherry Reds, but might be useful to others.

Edit: pickup @ store working for this keyboard now but have to add shipping $8.90 still pretty cheap if you ask me.

    Great Price!

  • Stock is extremely limited. Last time when it was $70, I called up all my local stores in Sydney and they told me they were all gone.

    Good luck finding stock.

    • +3

Yep. 4 stores in the country might have it:

      Port Lincoln Plaza SA
      Riverland Central Plaza SA
      Colac VIC
      Palmerston NT

Didnt realise the store location link sorta work. Wish people luck in finding them at this price. Now the hunt for a cherry Brown keyboard for work.

        • FWIW I grabbed a Logitech G610. I payed full price which was very un-OzB of me but I was in a hurry. It is pretty basic but it has a volume toggle and media keys and doesn't look like a gaming KB.

        • +1

Also looking for a cherry brown kb for work… pls keep us updated if you find anything!

        • EB also have the Brown on sale here

        • @ninHENDO:

Probably a lot more stores with stock at EB too.

        • @ebosh:

Seen any bargains on that lately? I've had my eye on it for a minute

        • @ninHENDO:

arse! they have the red at coffs harbour not the brown

        • @YoungFriendly:

Sorry for late reply. I looked pretty hard for a day or 2 but I needed it quickly so I just grabbed it from Scorptec. Having said that, now that I have bought it there is a good chance the price will drop by 50% (knowing my luck)

    $57 + $80 for a tank of petrol… not much of a deal.

    • -1

Try EB Games. They have the MX Brown version on sale for $57.

  • Heaps of QLD stores showing stock.

    • Not much around the Brisbane area unfortunately :(

    • +1

How do you check for stock without calling up?

  • +7

Bit surprised there are so many upvotes since no one could have bought one yet and they aren't going to be easy to get …

    • +1

Indeed. I think they upvoted on the price, but not the availability. Didn't know there were so many people that didn't live near the major cities.

    • Only upvote if you buy the item?

      • no but I did think upvote if you are actually able to even make that decision

  • Holy shit so cheap? Tempted to buy just for work pc

  • Meh, stock so limited.. Is this good enough to be considered a deal? Zero in Sydney and WA…. Thanks for nothing

  • -2

5 hours to the nearest store that has it???!!!! No thanks I'll just stick to the 70 cents pink keyboard I bought from target for now…..

  • +1

I think theres one near me, I don't need it but I'd totally do someone a solid if they wanted it and paid for postage!

    • Where are you based?

      • gold coast, I'll report back if I have it

  • +1

Got one. Thanks OP. My first mechanical KB.

    • +1

      They're addicting.

I am keen as I don't have an MX Red and would like to try it.

      Wish this was online, too.

      • Addictive. I'm aware that addicting got added to the dictionary, but it originated as an abuse of language, just like many of the other dumb colloquialisms that get added nowadays

Flame suit on, I'm prepared to take on the whole internet.

        • +4

          I appreciate the correction.

    • which store? any stock left?

      • North Lakes. Don't know if any were left.

  • Any cheap Cherry Brown keyboards atm?

  • Closest store 140km away, rip.

  • whats wrong with cherry red?

    • +1

Nothing - just depends on your preference for how the key feels/sounds.

MX Blue is my favourite Cherry switch, but I use Brown mostly because of noise issues.

      • ah i see. is red the noisiest? my bro has a razer blackwidow and is loud as. so i'd like to avoid that if possible.

        • +1

The Red switch is the most quiet. Blues are probably the loudest (most clicky) out of the Cherry range.

There are many other switches - search for them on YouTube. The channel rhinofeed is probably the best source for reviews and sound tests.

        • +1

Red is quiet. Your bro's blackwidow probably has a key that has one that has tactile feedback. my blackwidow have blue and it's loud as fk. You wouldn't use it at work with people around.

          Check the diagrams out:
          http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/official-mechanical-keyboa…

        • @Blitzfx:

I have a Blackwidow Ultimate Battlefield 4 and it's clicky as. I only use it at home.

    • No tactile feedback that your keystroke has registered. Blue switches, for example, make a click when the key stroke has registered. They aren't as good for fast gaming because you really have to depress the key quite far before you can press the key again for a new keystroke to register.

  • My favorite flavour, cherry red..

  • Managed to get the only one on the Gold Coast in Southport. Just had one arrive in store as i called for them to hold it for me.

    • I went to the same store today, however the EB guy told me they have never stocked any Cooler Master keyboards ever.

      • Thats a lie haha, i can post a photo of the receipt. I got the only one in there at like 9:30am this morning…

  • I purchased this keyboard from Centrecom with Blue switches, for the original price.

Great keyboard without being a desk-hog. Red-Blue colour design easily programmed (no additional software required).

Being blue, as mentioned, loud as… but eh, wear headphones or turn the volume up. It'll help.

It's a little on the chunky side but easy to get used to. I would recommend some sort of wrist rest if you're intending on using for extended periods.

    • Wear headphones? Why?

      It sounds beautiful.

      • I don't mind the click, like rattles in a car. It's the "character". If you don't like them, turn the music up.

I wear headphones on one ear and the other partially off, so I can hear the doorbell/phone if need be, so I always hear the click.

  • i got the last one from Coffs harbour. Who would have thought :/

  • Great price. Really solid, quality keyboard, got one from the last EB sale

  • Damn, thats cheap. I have the compact version of the exact same one. Been a pretty solid keyboard. Pity there is no stock

  • Hi guys, it appears that pick up in store function is available for this keyboard now. Not sure if they allow store transfers? Edit: oh it does!! Looks like this may get ozbargained soon!

Also the cherry browns are available on some stores but doesn't have pick up in store function.

    • Still doesn't let me check out :(

    • How did you checkout?

  • have this keyboard.

probably worth what they asking here, it's very basic.

  • -1

Went to the EB Games in Galleries Victoria, Sydney. Asked about the Cherry Brown: https://www.ebgames.com.au/pc-200704-CM-Storm-Quick-Fire-XT-…

The sales clerk explained to me, "It basically means somewhere in Australia, there is a store that is selling this for this price."

I said, "So basically it's a giant scam to get people in your door."

The other person working there said he agreed with me, and that he didn't like this way of advertising "bargains" either.

Wonder what ACCC and Fair Trading would have to say about this. At least music stores say which stores have a particular item and how many they have.
