  • Interested, but what's with the cost of the SSDs?
Are they an uncommon style or size?

    180GB Solid State Drive, 2.5", SATA, 6Gb/s, OPAL2.0 - [ add $ 275.00 ]
    256GB Solid State Drive, 2.5", SATA, 6Gb/s, OPAL2.0 - [ add $ 330.00 ]
    512GB Solid State Drive, 2.5", SATA, 6Gb/s, Non OPAL - [ add $ 429.00 ]

There's nothing special about the SSD's the OPAL 2.0 is just a set of security standards that those drives meet so any 2.5" SSD will work with this machine. This is just a typical mark up of adding extra's to a stock machine. You can easily buy a good 1TB SSD for the same price as the 512 :)

however if you prefer lenovo to install and have the SSD under warranty you'll have to pay the premium the ask for unfortunately.

    • It seems standard but if you're asking because off how expensive it is then I'm guessing it might be cause of the speeds? It says 6Gb/s which us fairly faster than your average Samsung evo 850. But in my honest opinion there's no need for speeds that high if you're not editing 4k videos or a young else that requires extensive hard drive activities. (even then this computer will struggle due to its processor and lack of dedicated graphics card). If you want an ssd in there just pick up any cheap on someone might post on this site and it'll be much more worth it.

Secondly companies usually charge people a lot extra when it comes to ssds. I remember using custom build options in computer hardware sites and they were a complete rip off. I'm assuming they just profit from people who don't really understand.

That's just the speed of the interface, it's a regular-speed drive.

        • Ah I see I thought it was sequential read/write. My bad.

  • Probably a silly question, but is there any chance of this running Fallout 4 (I'm not familiar with this processor- and to be honest, I miss the days of X086, 286 etc— that was MUCH easier to understand).

I highly doubt it because the processor is weak, probably more suited for office style computing or a computer to start your kids or elderly off. Usually games like fall out 4,overwatch, witcher 3 etc require a dedicated graphics card.

      • Got it. Thanks.

  • I would spec it to an i5 at a minimum

i5 + a SSD (SSD fitted after purchase - was pretty straight forward with screws, no cracking a case open by force like some mini PC's) makes for a quick bootup machine for light/medium work.

For one of the wall mount options, the wall bracket lets the PC slide in from the side (with a single thumb screw holding it in place) and the DVD drive if it has the double cage spaces (DVD drive and machine connect with a specific USB cable provided).

      Hope this helps.

    • FYI additional $231 to upgrade to i5

      • Instead of the upgrade, if you don't mind up-sizing to SFF over this then the ThinkCentre E73 with these specs seems like a much better deal at $726.24 with EOFY code:

i5-4690S, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, Intel Wireless-N 7260, Win10 Home x64. If you also add the 2.5" hdd bracket you should be able to mount a secondary SSD of your choice.

My bad - wasn't clear in my above post - Have these at a workplace (bundled with i5, hence commenting on the performance with that hardware) and just giving some details about some options of the unit.

  • I think the $1 monitor is not available anymore.
