  • Brisbane CBD? Been looking for a wired xbox controller to use for my computer.

    • Some northside stores had a few, chermside, brookside

  • +1

    Are these original MS ones?

    • -2

These are official xbox one controllers.

      • +5

Hmm these are official licensed, but from the looks of it, manufactured by PowerA. I should have worded my question better, my bad.

There's nothing wrong with these controllers except from my previous experience, MS manufactured controllers had easier time with drivers and game support in Windows PC than official licensed ones.

They usually retail around $50 btw.

  • +1

Was the price on the shelf at big w

  • If I plug this into a Windows PC, I assume this will get picked up as a proper Xbox controller and not as a Xinput generic joypad?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • Yes, I own one.

  • +5

Yes but as the owner of one they have nothing on the make quality of the Microsoft controllers. They feel cheap in the hand.

    • +1

Xbox is Microsoft … I have an R2-D2 one, the print is low res, but the controller is good.

      • +2

I think what he means is this may be a licensed controller but it is not a Microsoft made controller. This one is made by PowerA, it is not simply a different colour scheme to the Microsoft controller, it is one made by a totally different company.

        • I never considered that, you see the green xbox logo and assume, well we all know what happens when we assume ;)

        • @nikkirose: Yeah, when you assume, it makes us both look like asses ;)

  • +1

Xbox controllers can be used for PC gaming too (surprising how many people don't know that).

    • +1

I didn't know until I purchased Rocket League and it had the Y, X, B, A buttons for some of the moves you make. I was like, oh! Microsoft makes Xbox. The controllers must work for PC!

  • Headphone jack?

  • I saw these for $20 at Target (Brisbane CBD) on Friday. Didn't check whether they were for Xbox One or Xbox 360, worth calling and checking if interested.

  • +2

I bought a liquid metal one yesterday for 20 bucks from Target Bourke st mall Melb. Used it to play pinball on my pc after installing WIRELESS controller driver from Microsoft website. Works really well.

    • +1

Interested, why does pinball need a controller?

      • For more realistic flipper action via the triggers?

  • Got a White one at Kilkenny, SA
He said they only have Black ones left now..
Though the ticket for one with pretty lights on it was still up..

  • +2

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been looking for a controller, because recently I purchased Rocket League for PC after This free weekend and I have been playing using my keyboard. It was hard, but I got used to it. Now I don't have to worry. Hopefully the controller makes it easier! There were two left when I went to purchase. One box was already opened and the other was mint. I got the mint one for $25 ;) I can't wait to play Rocket League using it! Thank you again, OP!!! :D

    • -1

I think the opened boxed one was R2D2. I got the white Storm Trooper one. Storm Trooper is better than R2D2 anyway ;) I didn't see any other controllers for $25 though.

      • -1

In no universe are Stormtroopers better then R2-D2

        • +1

Well they are in my universe. Plus the design/image of the controller is better/nicer. That's my opinion.

        • @sagitox: I didnt downvote u dude, you are entitled to your opinion, and your own universe ;)

        • -1

@nikkirose: Er…did I say you did? [looks back at own post] Yep, still don't see where I said that o_O

          Also I ain't a dude…

        • -1

          @sagitox: So…. interested on a Steam date? :[

        • +1

@sagitox: everyones a dude or a babe or a munchkin, depending on my mood.

        • -1

I keep seeing the commercial where the proud parents are smiling down on their brood of children dressed as storm troopers, don't they know Storm Troopers are practically Nazis? May as well be dressed as the Gestapo…

        • @shadowarrior: Bwhahahaha. No.

        • @nikkirose: Nice save..

  • the spectra one is only $19…

    • +2

      No headphone jack though

  • Does the headphone jack work on PC?

    • Yes

  • They had R2D2 and what I presume was C3PO at Booval, Ipswich and a range of Liquid Metal ones.

  • Loving just plugging in a nice set of headphones, one downside is I've only got 'soft' volume control options in settings but shouldn't need to fiddle with them too much.

Any secret squirrel ways to up and down the volume with the controller?

    • Only way I know of is in the Xbox one settings

  • Feels like a silly question: do these also work wirelessly with an XBOne ?

    • Repeat after me. W-I-R-E-D :)
They are hard wired..you can't take the wire off.

      • -2

        Ah, OK.

In my defense, my Microsoft "wired controller" just has a standard USB cable and the controller works with either PC or XBox. :)

        • your defense is weak my child.

  • +1

Legend. Just grabbed one from Big W Geelong.
    Boop beep bloop.

    • +1

No +ive? I need that validation in my life

      • +2

Ah, sorry about that. I only just joined up today to say thanks. That's right!! JUST FOR YOU!!

Was looking for the button but couldn't see it. Evidently I was using my eyes wrong.

+1'd and all is again right in the universe. :)

        • Welcome to OzBargain, thanks for taking the time to thank the OP. Bet far to many leechers read OzBargain and never say thanks.

        • +2

          @PainToad:
Yep, like I have been for some time. That ends today!

  • +1

Something I found out today, if you have a wireless controller, you can run it without batteries by plugging it in to the console or PC with a USB cable. This didn't work with the 360 controllers and the charging cable.

But the best part is if you have a wireless controller, you can plug it into a wall socket charger like from your phone or something and run it without batteries wirelessly. I swear my headphone cans sound a bit better as well.

    That is all.

  • One 3PO controller left at BigW Gungahlin ACT, $25.
