Sunbeam Torino Espresso & Grinder $1699.15 at David Jones

10

Sunbeam Torino espresso machine and a grinder (EM8000).

Most places seem to be selling it at the full RRP of $1999. Sunbeam's top espresso machine. Seems a lot for a thermoblock machine.

(They did have the EM7000 for $599 but that seems sold out now.)

From the super-sleek, high-sheen exterior to the cleverly crafted internal engineering, Sunbeam brings you a truly Italian inspired masterpiece. Inspired by the iconic Italian e61 group head, this espresso machine is a union of performance and flair.

  • Triple Thermoblock heating technology
  • Manual extraction arm
  • Shot clock
  • Extraction pressure gauge
  • Stainless steel construction

Coffee snobs discussion here, though I don't think any of them actually have the machine:

We recently upgraded from the Sunbeam EM6910 to the Breville BEP920 (dual boiler machine with grinder combo). They are a great pair!! The 920 way easier to operate than the 6910, quieter and thanks to some of the recent posts significantly cheaper than the sunbeam above. I'm not negging the post as it's a good price for this machine. I just would not buy this machine as the 920 is a better value proposition (IMHO) and this may benefit those looking at this and sitting on the fence about pulling the trigger on this one.

Nice thing with thermoblock is fast heatup you just want a coffee…… problem is long term parts support……..love my thermo block machine. Em7000

  • I like the Breville BES980 the Oracle more than this Sunbeam Torino. Hoping to see the price drop below 1K by Xmas.

Overpriced fake E61 machine. STAY AWAY from this machine.

Do your research and read the reviews:

I can't imagine how this machine will ever appeal to any other than poorly informed people with too much money to spend.

It's Lelit Dual boiler money, close on Domobar Junior money or if you insist on appliances, it will go close to buying 2 x BDB (including a spare for when the primary one is in service.)

My call? I reckon the torino will either be discounted sustantially (My guess cafe series $$) or it will flop.

  • Actually a coffee snob bought the machine and posted his review here:

any good machines out there under $500 that a worth a buy? I dont have a big budget

  • Just to be clear - I was not recommending the machine. I agree that the Breville BES920 is probably better, and a better buy - often around $1000 with the SmartGrinder. I have had the 6910 (which is not too bad once you replace the grinder with a SmartGrinder) and have a Breville BES980.

I only posted the deal as it is a current best price for the machine - if you really wanted to get it.

  • Apropo of nothing, I love my Breville BEP920! :-)
