    • Hmm, I didn't get an invite but the manual link worked for me.

    • Oops, sorry, it worked for my Amex issued card, but not for the bank issued Amex.

      • Same. Doesn't seem to like my bank issued AMEX.

        • Same for me. Bank issue, invite only.

  • Looks like my bank-issued AMEX doesn't work but my non bank-issued did.

  • Thanks, not in my offers, used the manual link.

Don't understand why not, it's got NFC hasn't it?

The real question is, where can you actually use it?

  • I read that in the US they were giving away free Samsung wireless charging plate to anyone subscribing Samsung pay. Nothing similar in Australia?

    • +4

we get $15 back.. Better then a poke in the eye with a stick!!

      • I will probably wait and see if they will do the same thing here.

        • +2

A poke in the eye with a stick?

      • I have got 5 Amex cards so this deal is definitely better for me

    • +2

I bought a wireless samsung charger from aliexpress for less than $9 delivered, so IMO this deal is better! Link to product here.

      • Hi ViperAMD, I was checking out some cheap wireless chargers on ebay before and noticed that some of them claimed to be fast wireless chargers as well. How long does your wireless chargers taking to charge your phone? are you happy with it?

      • +1

I am interested… how sure you are that it is not a fake?
        cheers

        • when its on Aliexpress for a crazy cheap price e.g. more than 50% off the retail price, then almost 100% guaranteed that it is a fake. lol.

        • @lplau:
you're right, i have read the reviews and most of the people say it is fake.

      • S6 or S7? Description says S6 but I have a feeling it will adapt…

    • I wonder if they will make it compatible with more devices in future, and even non-Samsung phones?

      • what & not force you to upgrade to their latest toy?

    • So this means Telstra is not on board with S6s at this stage, but all other telcos are? Will my Vodafone support it? Why can't I find the app in the Play store?

    • Telcos in general are pretty slow with pushing through software updates from Samsung. Best thing is to flash the phone with a default Samsung vanilla firmware - that way you get all the updates ASAP without having to wait for your telco to approve/modify each update. (Also gets rid of all the telco bloatware that usually comes on Androids)

      • +2

Don't let the guys on the CrowdSupport forums hear you. All the bloatware and "testing" the carriers do is for your own good apparently.

      • even then Samsung is slow.
I believe you need to root your phone to reflash? which triggers something in the Knox part to flag that this happens & voids warranty.

I argued with Samsung about them being slow to release security patches in Oz, and thus I have to right to flash mine with an OS firmware. They said that it would likely void warranty.

        • With my S7 edge I flashed it from Telstra firmware to stock AU firmware. I get the monthly security updates the same month they come out. It takes a week or two longer than the equivalent EU firmwares to get the updates, but it's not a huge delay.

As long as you flash it with a standard, unmodified firmware signed by Samsung, it will not trip Knox security or void warranty. It's the same firmware as if you were to buy the phone direct from Samsung. I flashed mine with Odin (no root required) and currently have Samsung Pay setup and working without any issues. Added bonus: don't have all the Telstra bloatware or boot screen anymore! :)

        • @evol: I stand corrected. I've got stock standard AU stock rom, but I haven't had an update since Jan (none released).

        • Moving from one Samsung firmware to another Samsung firmware shouldn't triggers the KNOX counter. Have seen this done by others, and I did similar thing with my phone several times too.

Sometimes Telcos are faster than Samsung when it comes to releasing firmware (or sometimes they are slower but has a more recent build). What phone do you have?

  • +1

got it all set up on my Telstra S7

  • Anyone know how to get Samsung Pay working on grey imports?
When I open the app on my phone purchased from Kogan it just says Coming Soon

    • You will need to flash your firmware to a stock Samsung Australian version I think.

      • Can you do that without tripping Knox, which would presumably stop Samsung Pay from working?

        • +1

Yes, As long as its a official Australian Firmware, not a modified or custom firmware.
Download the firmware from www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ which hosts official firmwares.
          Then flash using Odin.

        • +1

@lplau: Use SamFirm for uncap download! Sammobile is still good, but they heavily slowed the download speed unless you donate to them. Download it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-sa….

Also flashing official firmware will no trip KNOX.

        • @lplau: Do you know if flashing firmware results in wiping the phone clean?

        • +1

@illumination: If you are flashing a different firmware it is always good to wipe the phone as it causes less issues. However sometimes when you do what they call a Dirty Flash e.g. don't wipe, it will still work. Odin itself doesn't wipe firmware unless you choose to do it.

Best to backup, because it may result in a phone which doesn't boot into phone then requires a full wipe to restore it to working order.

If it was the same firmware but updating it, then a dirty flash wouldn't be an issue.

        • @lplau: Yea thought so.. thanks for your help!

    • Where did you find the app? I have a grey import from eGlobal and can't find the app in Play store or Galaxy Apps.

Note trying the Web link to the app states that my grey import Galaxy s6 edge+ isn't compatible. Maybe time to flash aussie f/w

    • Got it to work by sideloading two apks (spay and spay framework).

Havent tested payments yet but my amex cards added fine.

      • +1

My grey import had NZ firmware (??). just flashed the latest Australian (XSA) generic Samsung firmware via SamFirm (super quick download) and bang, Samsung Pay icon already appeared on my app list! Set it up, loaded my Amex and ready to go - Galaxy S6 edge+ complete with MST functionality! Thanks OP and others! Also have the Samsung Pay offer saved in the Amex app.

Cant wait to try it tomorrow, kinda cool how the payment screen gets called even when the screen is off.

  • need to change the description to say "Amex Issued cards only"

  • how does Samsung pay work? is it safe? will it take my credit card details?

    • -2

Nothing is safe as soon as you enter it into any internet connected device.
It is only as safe as the company which is protecting the information. It will take your credit card details, but will store it in a "secure" place.

We are in the digital age, nothing is safe, its only a feeling of security. If your details get stolen, then you just do a chargeback lol.

      • ok thanks. so how do I set this up?

      • thats completely true what Iplu said, why the neg vote? :-/

        • Ahhh its OK, its just the people who are still in denial. mwahaha.
Remember, what is created by humans can be broken by humans. That's why big corporations hire and recruit the brightest hackers, its all a cat and mouse game that never ends because they can never truly build a invulnerable program.

Strange why MST isn't compatible with S6. From what I read online, it seems to point to S6 having MST capabilities.

    • +1

Just spoke with a Samsung representative, and they said the Australian S6 model (SM-G920i) and s6 edge DOES NOT come with MST.

  • why s6 edge not MST Compatible? i remember Samsung saying it can in keynote :(

  • Samsung rocks !!

Iphone hmmm… glad I went with S6 edge last year

    • before u get too excited, remember ur S6 will not support MST payments, So basically same as iOS payment system

  • I have a Galaxy Note 5, AU stock with Optus. Apparently the app is incompatible with my device. Anybody expereincing the same or have any ideas on how to remedy?

  • does this mean with Samsung Pay that Amex cards can be used anywhere where M/C and Visa is only accpeted..?

    • No. All it does is allow your Amex issued card to be accessed via your phone, as if you were tapping your Amex card itself.

  • Thanks OP, registered my Amex card for this offer and successfully linked it to my Samsung S7 edge. Will try it out next time I am buying something at coles

  • Useless Telstra. My S6 still isn't on marshmallow.

  • Alright so no luck with my ANZ AMEX card :(

That sucks as ANZ's payment app I really don't like as much as Samsung Pay looks

    • +1

It's only for Amex issued cards, not for Bank issued Amex.

Wait for ANZ to release Android Pay. Should be available in the next month or 2.

      • Ah I should learn to read then :) Thanks

  • Can I combine these offer with the previous one where you get a $10 credit for $50 or more spend @ BP fuel?

    • Cant see why not :) By the way, it's $40 spend at BP to get $10 credit.

    • +1

No - BP can't do contactless payments with Amex.

      • +1

Good point, but it might work with MST! (mag stripe emulation).

Hopefully amex has catered for the fact that samsung pay cards have a unique digital card number, for their standard offers system.

    • I wonder if any standard Amex offers will work at all with Samsung Pay, as Samsung pay uses a unique digital card number.

      I hope it does.

  • Bit more details about samsung pay below. got this in email from samsung after registering

Thank you for registering Samsung Pay on your SM-G935F. Soon you’ll be able to use your device to make in-store purchases at all your favorite locations!

Samsung Pay is a simple and secure mobile payment service which is accepted at nearly every payment terminal in the world. You can register Credit Cards onto Samsung Pay and use them to make in-store payments.

Samsung Pay uses a combination of Near Field Communication (NFC) and a groundbreaking new technology called Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). MST replicates a card swipe by wirelessly transmitting magnetic waves from the device, turning every card reader into a contactless payment receiver. *S6, S6 edge NFC only

Your security is important to us. Samsung Pay uses tokenization and dual-factor authentication to actively protect your payment information. Additionally, either your fingerprint or a four-digit pin is required in order to make payments.

  • I get the following when trying to sign up via the link provided. :-(
"Unfortunately this campaign is by invitation only. Please visit www.facebook.com. a0va0000002Yu6qAAC/americanexpress for other fabulous offers."
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I am signed in with my Google Account. I have an American Express card. Meh!

  • http://www.androidcentral.com/forums-samsung-pay-galaxy-s6-a… "Magnetic Secure Transmission baked into every s6 and s6 edge"

    • I still don't understand why s6 edge was not supported for MST payment :'(

      • +1

The Australian s6 and s6 edge does not come MST unlike USA. This means that s6 and s6 edge users can only use NFC as MST is no available. You can verify this by going into the dialer and typing #0# .You will see no option to test MST hardware in the Test menu as it doesn't exist in our model :(

That's why the s6 and s6 edge only support NFC and not MST.

        • +1

My grey import s6 edge+ has MST. Verified by test available on hardware check (#0#) - note that you need to add a asterisk before each hash in that code, for some reason they disappear when posting.

        • @pumpkins: yeah not sure why the asterisk is not appearing, but it should be 'asterisk' # 0 'asterisk' #

        • I brought aussi stock thinking i will get all features, wish i brought grey stock, now feeling cheated for paying more and getting less features

        • +1

@hopper: Yeah same! Feeling pretty annoyed that the Aussie version didn't get MST and they didn't state it.

    • The line from Samsung at the moment is the Australian version (925i for the S6 edge) does not include MST technology. So, if it pops up in India (which also uses the 925i) we know that is indeed a bullsh*t line looking to push a possible up sell. Frankly even if its true their marketing to date has been more than a little deceptive, even if only by omission. When they launched the S6 and edge MST was one of the top things they pushed as innovation and the way to make contactless smartphone payments universal. To build versions for Brazil and Australia that drop major functions and then not make any distinctions between models, is again deceptive.

  • +2

Oh no the S5 is not on the list. oh well i managed to register our 15 amex issued cards so that will be a $225 saving. dam now have to buy a new compatible phone before Sept 14th. So whos the best Australian retailer that issues gst invoices for a new s6 or s7? does kogan issue gst receipts for grey imports?

  • What's the benefit of samsung pay?

I use the cba app to make payments with phone over NFC. Besides these temporary incentives, why should I bother with samsung pay?

    • Samsung Pay offers both NFC + MST (MST is usually used in shops across the road where they may not offer an NFC terminal but rather the swipe ones). This means that it practically works anywhere with an NFC enabled reader or anywhere you can SWIPE the card.

It's disappointing that CBA (or other banks) is not joining in as Samsung is offering something that is new and not just entirely NFC. CBA's app is cucumbersome to load and i'd rather just bring out a card. Samsung pay can be launched from the lock screen then verify with fingerprint, scan and done. Simple. You should definitely try it if you are with AMEX or Citibank.

      • Example Ikea Richmond has no NFC payment option in their payment terminal

  • Myki card here I come!

  • Access denied due to unauthorised modifications :(

    • +4

i guess either Knox tripped or your phone is rooted?

      • it's rooted :/

  • I manually enrolled but can't see it on 'My Offer' page

    • I couldn't either logged in on a webpage, but if you go to the Amex App on android, it comes up there

  • Samsung pay won't install on my international version s7 :(

    • See posts above re flash aussie firmware.

  • Just tested on my s7 edge Aus stock. Works amazingly well. Everything is super smooth. I am impressed Samsung!

failed on my Citibank Visa Debit. No idea why.. edit: oh I see, only credit cards.

  • New wireless tech means smarter hacker syndicate to steal your money. Just remember to check your bank balance before bed daily. I can foresee that the future is going to be signing with you Touch ID, the next phase of security check is via retina scan and spit at your phone to have DNA check. More identity theft is possible. In business sense there are more accessories and cleaning agent. Lol.

  • Cant find Samsung pay on my Note 5?Any clue?

    • try the App store might need to download it

      • +1

Cant find it through Play store and Samsung App store!

        • Is yours a grey import? if it is grey imported one, then you might have to flash Australian firmware (if the variant you've bought is same as Australian model).

Though, I think Samsung Pay came preloaded on S6 and S7, so check your apps if yours isn't a grey import one.

        • @Oversimplified:

Nope. I bought my Note 5 from TGG.
