  • Can anyone explain to me what these portable Wi-Fi Modems are? If I was to buy one, would it required ID? After the 14 days of data, do I just dispose of the device?

With these, you can get the Data only sim card to use with. If you are using any ipads or tablet, or laptops, you can use the wifi from these moderns to connect to the internet like your wifi network at home.

      • Does this require ID?

        • +1

Not to purchase the device but to activate the SIM card (e.g. via phone or online) that comes with the device.

        • @mhecker:
You need to give a name etc. But nobody actually checks the photo or signature, so if you value privacy at all, you can use anybody's ID. Its not even a crime if not done for financial advantage (no law against lying).
Just don't complain to me if ASIO breaks down your door.

  • What's the expiry date for activation for these SIMs?

    • mostly end of this year. thats why they are clearing these out

  • Wondering how many GBs of data included in the portable WIFI, for $10 deal ? I used to buy one, that had 3G data.

    • States on the page: "comes with 2 GB of included data with 14 days expiry for use within Australia"

  • Was wondering whether I can use this Mobile-wifi-Modem for my existing Optus prepaid 3G account straight away (rather than register the new simcard included in the box) ?

  • I went to Box Hill South Officeworks and bought one. Black only. The shop staff told me this is Optus locked. Back home, I tried to insert a Vodafone data sim, but it didn't work.

$10 for 2G data, expiry date end of this year. An average deal.
