  • I was a Telechoice member and the lesson learned is: don't you dare going over the limit. It was the most expensive (and stupid from my part) phone experience I ever had.

    • Hi Renaldof,

This may have been on one of our older plans - all of our plans since August 2015 have had an excess data rate of $10/GB. This together with real time usage alerts and the ability to check your usage from your device has made exceeding your limit far more difficult to do.

    • $250/gb! and no real time data… I paid my price
I never received any recommendation to switch to the new plans which is $10/GB.
It's very easy to switch thou and you get very similar if not better plan for same price.
STRONGLY recommend you update your TeleChoice plan, it's easy and staff were very good despite from Overseas.

      • Thanks man, I've learned the lesson, I am now with BOOST

  • For existing customers on a lock-in contract, is there anyway to upgrade to these plans?

    • Hey hotmustardsuace,

Yes! These plans are available to new, recontracting and upgrading customers (as long as doing so doesn't break an existing contract).

To change, you can still follow the above instructions - click 'buy now' on your desired plan and just select that you are an existing customer when prompted.

      Alternatively, you can call us on 1300 835 324 [Option 1] (Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm AEST).

  • The $1000 worth of calls cover international calls as well?

    Cheers!

    • +1

      Hey FindMeADeal,

Sure does :) Here are the call rates if you're interested - https://www.telechoice.com.au/?/international-calling-rates

      • It indicates "Live - $38, $48, $55 & $65". Not including $28 live plan?

        • Hey Cnboyli,

The LIVE 38, 48, 55 and 65 plans are all unlimited plans. The international minutes on these plans can only be used to call selected countries (which is what the first table shows).

All other LIVE plans with $xx call allowances can call any international countries (no just the 'selected countries') at the rates shown in the second table in the link above.

  • Critical Information Summary says 3GB (1GB Plan data + 2GB bonus data). Would be get 2GB bonus data on 12 months on "No lock-in plans" as well?

    • Hey Ali1998.

      To break down those inclusions:

      $28 no lock in : 3GB data (1GB plan data + 2GB bonus data)
      $28 12 month : 3.5GB data (1GB plan data + 0.5GB contract bonus +2GB bonus data).

      Hope that clears things up!

  • are these plan any better than aldimobile/woolworth?

  • Omg Lebanon is included! first I ever seen this from any carrier!!!

    • +1

      Hey repair-pro,

Yep! Lots of our customers call Lebanon so it's one of our 'selected countries' for the international minutes on our unlimited plans.

the other plans with a $xx value of calls can call any international country.

  • On $19 plan I noted a 2 minute call is $2.38. If a 10 minute call made each day over a 30 day month cost would be $35.70. This is over the $300 limit. There are plans that are better value.

    • Hey Rggmcl,

Just to clarify - the call rate is actually $0.99/Minute + $0.40 Flagfall. This means a 10 minute call would be $10.30 (still slightly putting you over the $300 limit if you made a one every day).

Our other plans have much higher allowances, that bottom plan is just for those who make minimal calls but do still use a bit of data.

All the plans have unlimited text.

  • Why are the data caps split into data plus bonus data? Is the bonus part different or for a limited time only? Cheers

    • Hey Shuffle1,

They are split this way because the data come in packs - you will get alerted for your usage of the packs seperately and when you check your usage, they will display in these packs.

This doesn't mean its limited time only though - you will keep the bonus data for as long as you stay on the plan

  • Does Telechoice provide International Roaming?
EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer, no.

    • Hey Jrimbo,

We do actually provide roaming - for LIVE plans you just need to prepay the amount you plan to use before you leave.

For more information about the rates, check here - https://www.telechoice.com.au/?/international-roaming

We do however normally recommend to pick up a local SIM from whever you are going as this often turns out to be much cheaper.

      • Thanks for clarifying, I normally get local SIM, but I need the roaming mainly for receiving SMS.

        • Same here need to be able to receive sms from ubank while overseas.. Receive sms is free, right?

Rep can you clarify you said for live plan there is roaming, is live plan means contract only or both contract and non?

        • Hey Eisniwre,

That applies to all plans with the word 'LIVE' in the name :)

And yes, receiving SMS is free.

  • IS this OPTUS or Telstra network? 3G or 4G?

    • Hey Gavman,

The TeleChoice mobile network uses part of Telstra's 4G and 3G mobile network. For more information about coverage - https://www.telechoice.com.au/our-mobile-network

      Hope that helps :)

I'm currently with Vaya - $18 p/m 1.5gb data and $650 worth of calls. Currently the service is good and for an extra $1 I don't see a need to switch. Perhaps if it was 2GB bonus instead of 1Gb may sway me.

        • +2

          Hey Gavman,

We'd advise you keep an eye out on our Ozbargain page! Hopefully we'll be able to entice you to make the switch one day ;)

        • @TeleChoice: Thanks will do.

        • Hi Gavman, lthere has been a few negative comment about Vaya. I know they have changed over to Amaysim. The value looks good, have you been trouble free?

        • +1

@Rggmcl: None in the last 24 months and ive been with them for 3 years. couple of years ago they were poorly resourced and there were some issues but I stuck the course. Vaya have a negative Stigma but realy that's all it is.

Amaysim actually now own VAYA. So we are basically they are same provider (last 6 months). It probably that I'm getting a way better deal than those on Amaysim as Vaya are positioned as a cheaper provider in the market but pretty much for the exact same service.

        • @Gavman:
Thank you Gavman. Yes I noted the value better on VAYA than Amaysim.

        • I guess one of the key differences is that Vaya doesn't include international calls in the standard credit while Telechoice does! which is great indeed!

  • Is there an automatic barring service for excess data and calls?
As a customer of Vaya $18 no lock-in plan, I had bad experience because they always make additional data blocks automatically when I reached data limit.

    • Hey Ouryou -

For excess data, yes. We can stop the additional $10/GB boltons from occuring, so you won't exceed your data.

Calls are a little trickier. We can set a spend limit on the plan (over an above the $18) but this can't be $0. So essentially while we can limit is a bit, we can't cut calls off at 100%.

  • Damn just paid jeenee this morning!
    $30 for 4gb

But no roaming and quota doesn't include international, and also Optus vs Telstra

    Hmmm…. Choice choice choice!

    Should I cancel jeenee?

  • Rep, I am on $28 with 2.5GB contract from your Feb offer, can I switch to new $28 and 3.5GB contract offer. I am fine with having contract period extended as long as no fee?

    • +1

      Look above…

    • Hey Salehiam,

We'd have to have a look at the account before we could give you an answer to this. Please email [email protected] and we'll let you know.

In general - These plans are available to new, recontracting and upgrading customers (as long as doing so doesn't break an existing contract) (as eisniwre had pointed out above :))

      • could you define recontracting ?

        • Hey Salehiam,

Recontracting would be anyone out of contract, or not currently in a contract (ie. you are on a no lock-in plan)

        • @TeleChoice: well I sent you an email so you can have look at the account

        • @TeleChoice: means saleh can't change because he is in contact, right? I hope you allow as long he sign new contract. The point is you lock him for longer term now that is a benefit to the company.

        • Hey Eisniwre,

It would be a case by case basis, but as you have stated, if you recontract for a further 12 months, then it should be possible to make that change.

        • +1

@TeleChoice: ah good to know. Yes of course we will happy to sign another 12 months contract, that is fair. If in 6 months time you have better plan I will upgrade and sign for another contract so you will locked me for 18 month! How good is that for the business? It means you look after both new customers and current.

Ps I have signed up 12 months $28!

        • Great to hear Eisniwre :) :)

  • +1

To change from $20 to $18 or not … lose $200 call credit but gain 500mb …. choices choices …

    • I'll take 500gb than $200 calls

  • Where is the bargain???

  • +2

These plans are pretty competitive with aldi and on the telstra network. Not sure why it's not getting many up votes?

    • Much better than aldi. Also 25$only 2gb data and aldi has no roaming. Massive! And call quota can't be used for international. Double massive!

    • Let me try and give this some momentum!

  • Aldi has much lower call rate and NO flagfall.

  • +2

Pretty good deals. Nice one rep.

    • Thanks Illumination!

      • when does the offer ends? I still have 2 months with vaya…..

  • +1

Just suggestions, comparing $28 lock and not lock the difference is only half GB per month, per day is very little. I believe our 12 months loyalty is worth more than that. At least one full GB extra for the fans please.

  • +1

FYI, Woolworths Mobile gives you 3GB/month for $27/m (if you use your Everyday Rewards card when recharging): https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/prepaid.html
Telechoice give you between 7pm – 7am, unlimited calls though, for an extra $1.

    • If you check carefully that $27 Woolworths 3gb data is 2 plus 1 bonus. I called and they can not guarantee the 1 GB promotion will last next month, although has been like that since November 2015.
I don't want to take risk, plus Woolworths can't roam, and calls international isn't included. These two are what you get by that $1 extra.

      • Hey Decryption and Eisniwre,

Just to add our 2 cents - the bonus data on our plans will stick with you as long as your remain on the plan.

        • "as long as you are remain on the plan"
Month to month also means a plan?
          Ie
What happen with people go into the non contract plan month to month.
Is there a possibility some of the data bonuses will no longer applied after certain months?

        • Hey Eisniwre,

Sorry by plan I just meant the selected package - the statement above applies to no lock in contract as well :)

  • when is the offer ends? still have 2 months with vaya…..

    • Hey Edgar28,

At the moment we are expecting this to stick around til August, although I would get in as soon as possible just to be safe, as there is no set date.

      • Thank you for the advice

      • Hi I just activated my sim card, during the activation, it stated there is a setup fee??

        • opps assess fee.

  • +1

I might have broken the record for activatiom/porting!

Registered on Monday afternoon this week for 12 months contract porting from tpg.
Sim card received yesterday Wednesday afternoon same week.
Today Thursday morning called to change from 12 months to month to month (difference only 0.5gb, why need to commit?)
Sales girl said no problem! 1 min, done. Then activated on the spot.
Asked her few questions about billing etc, 2 mins later while still on the phone, she said "service is active"!!!
And yes it was 2 mins activation process . Not sure why some people can have days?

    • +1

      Hey Eisniwre,

Great to hear :) It's a pretty straight forward process. Almost all ports will occur in the less that 1 hours and it would be very rare to experience any downtime (as the SIM with either the other provider or us should work).

  • Is data counted in kb?

    • Hi Sasha6,

Yes :) Data is counted in KB

      • Are uploads counted?

        • Hi Pseudobacon,

Uploads are counted in KB as well.

  • +1

    Hi Rep,
    Pretty good deals, thank you

I've decided to switch from another provider using the same number. Just curious how long does it take to make the switch?

    Cheers,

    • +1

      Hi Cob,

Getting the SIM takes 3 - 5 days. Activating the SIM takes a couple of hours :)

      • Hi Rep,
Quite strange … I registered everything yesterday but I'm still with old provider today, it's been 24hours :)

        • Hi Cob,

If you can provide me with your account number (via private message here, or by emailing [email protected]) i'll have a look into this one for you!

        • +1

          mine changeover in 10 minutes

the old provider service got DC almost immediately

        • +1

@TeleChoice: I received a new SIM with same number a few days later. All good now, I'm quite satisfy with the network quality, thanks Rep :)

  • Can I buy the sim now and port out/activate in about 28days will be OK?
Start charges from the date of port out/activate?
I need to give a month notice to the current provider. :(

    • Hey LouisP,

You sure can :) You can apply now and activate whenever suits you - you won't start paying until you activate the SIM.

      • ordered mine. Will activate it end of month

the referral link/ column to fill not working anymore?

  • Hi Rep,
Will the bonus data continue after the contract has finished?

    • Hey Systema,

It sure will - you'll keep the bonus data for as long as your remain on the plan, even after your contract finishes.

  • +1

I guess this is an excellent plan as the credit includes international calls as well! I don't know any other carrier which includes international calls in their standard credit in this price range! great, will be buying a sim!

    Thanks OP.
