    Up to 20mb writing :(

    • -2

Could you name a device you would put a micro SD into that would require more than 20MB/s write speed?

      • Yes PC transferring 4k video, 1080p, bluray movies to watch on device
Or 64gigs of Mame or other roms
Giving someone movies for a trip etc

You can get cards with over 4x the speed which will save heaps of time especially if people are waiting for file or if you have time constraint
Also some good cameras require a faster write speed for burst rate and/or 4k video

        • +1

So none - as all those devices will work 100% fine with 20MB/s, just write slower.

To give you an idea about the bitrate required for 'good cameras' the GoPro 4 black requires 7.5MB/s for 4K protune video (highest quality setting). Something like the Panasonic GH4 requires 25MB/s and that's recording the highest bitrate in 1080p, but at 4k (which is what everyone who owns them shoots at) it only requires 12.25MB/s due to an arguably better capture codec. Sony's new A7 series, RX100, RX10 and more that shoot XAVC-S only require 12.5MB/s at 4K. There are no 4K video cameras on the market that shoot on SD cards that require more than 20MB/s. The ones that do shoot on things like SxS cards, CFast, AXS media and more.

Shooting raw photos in burst mode is about the only use that would require higher bitrate SD cards.

Sure there are faster cards, but for $24 you won't get any faster and for most people they will not require any faster. So for you to not upvote the deal (you don't think it's good value) and comment how you think 20MB/s is slow is an incorrect and uninformed opinion.

        • -1

          @c0balt:
Yes good value but i was only factually pointing out the speed as some people would like to know.
By your logic a lot of devices don't even require 20mb. Why not use usb 2 hard drives?
By your same logic a card which is 1mb a sec is fine just slower! Try filling that up while your friend waits for data!

Also new cameras such as rx100 3&4 and sony a7 will refuse to record 4k to many cards. So you are wrong to assume this card will be accepted.
20mb is pathetic for burst write with fast and/or high megapixel cameras
And since you agree with me that cameras taking burst REQUIRE higher speeds you should not have started your comment with the words 'So none'

        • @thelastnoob:

          1) "Why not use USB2 drives?"
          - Because we are talking about devices that require Micro SD cards.

          2) "By your same logic a card which is 1mb a sec is fine just slower! Try filling that up while your friend waits for data!"
          - I wrote about devices requiring certain bandwidth, you can verify that yourself by checking the cameras I mentioned. If you reqire 7.5MB/s, then you require a card that can at least write that. That's my logic, when you don't need to pay more for the same functionality then why, oh why, would you?

3)"Also new cameras such as rx100 3&4 and sony a7 will refuse to record 4k to many cards."
          - Strange, I work with these cameras a lot and you are wrong. The EVO cards work fine in them. Don't go around spouting this horrible misinformation.

          4) "20mb is pathetic for burst write with fast and/or high megapixel cameras"
          - Which is what I said.

          5) "And since you agree with me that cameras taking burst REQUIRE higher speeds you should not have started your comment with the words 'So none'"
          - Well you are agreeing with me if Iwas the one to bring it up. I asked you for specific examples and all your examples were wrong, I broke that down into detail as to why and funnily enough gave you the two examples. Now you think you thought of it? Strange, as there's a comment chain showing what was said so anyone can see.

It's funny to see people downvoting the correct information. It actually happens a lot in these types of threads. Sometimes you get the people who actually know their stuff though and change the votes around - but the circle jerk of misinformation regarding write speed is just hilarious to see.

          @c0balt:

Your 4th point agrees with my very first comment
Your 5th point is wrong and misleading when you say i gave no example when you agree that burst photos is an example

I informed people of the slow 20mb speed and ended up with your wrongful assertion that no device requires it to you admitting it is necessary sometimes

Can you confirm this card works with 4k 100Mbps on Sony rx100iv and Sony A7Rii?
Surely it would not be fast enough for burst on these and the 6300.

        • @c0balt: I tried writing video to a EVO and an EVO+ in a Sony Action Cam in PRO mode at XAVC-S 50Mbps. In this mode the camera refused to acknowledge the card unless it was a U3. I was able to get it to work with a (EVO) PRO card, UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3).

BMPCC (Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera).

Very touchy beast when it comes to SD cards and writing RAW (or even the HQ Prores).

When doing raw the little beast writes at around 30 Megs per second (approximately going from memory) and only fast SD cards primary sandisk seem to be able to support the IOPS necessary without the camera throwing up a flashing alert that frames have been dropped.

Granted, its a unique camera and not general equipment most people would use, but it is a device that needs more than 20MB's per second.

I have made a few orders with pc-bytes but have not received the delivery. It is going through paypal dispute at the moment. I was wondering whether this is a common issue with pc-bytes?

    • +2

I have made a few orders with pc-bytes but have always received the delivery. Never had to go through paypal dispute at the moment. I dont think this is a common issue with pc-bytes.

    • Maybe try PM'ing the store rep. At a guess, delays may have something to do with the current eBay sale and the obvious large volumes of orders. Their delivery is normally extremely fast, and are very well regarded on OzBargain.

    • +1

Always got my orders within 1 week without fail. (6 orders so far) I don't think its normal, and you should contact the store rep.

    • Same here. Have no issuessssssss

    • +1

My experience was similar to yours. After waiting past the deliver by date, I contacted them for a refund. They said the first package was sent but I guess it never made it to me. They asked me to reconsider the dispute and promised me a tracker delivery. That one made it in 3 days.

      • I have got no reply from them. No tracking either. I will let paypal to handle this.
I will also contact the store rep here.

        • -1

Taking too long to reply. She is operating on a skeleton staff I believe just to save on cost. Not impress with the service. I could have bough a few more compact flash and SD cards but refrain from doing so because of this uncertainty.

WARNING: Two orders not recieved here.

I recieved a message about 1 item when there was another item ordered at the same time. The message claimed it would be shipped by end of last week, no tracking number entered on eBay yet. So blatant lying to delay action on my part and they made no mention of the other item.

And of course there's the other seperate order: not shipped, ordered same night, no message.

This experience plus this coment I'm replying to makes me thing it's a pattern and things are in disarray or worse with this vendor.

I suggest not ordering until they fix their ****.

    • It could be just auspost, chance of me getting a letter or package from auspost is 70% for the remaining 30% I get other peoples mails.

      • You realise that whether people update the senders or AU Posts of address changes is beyond AU Post's control right?

      • -1

If you order SDcards they send in with letter and letter is snail mail it takes more than a week to arrive for me it was close to 10 days

    • Yeah I ordered a drive Wednesday and still have no shipping notice and expected delivery was meant to be Tuesday :/

  • +1

Not sure if I prefer they keep prices the same or change them, on one hand we get deals like this, on the other we lose some old deals.

Speaking of personal experience, my last order was a dud so I sent it back, I'm a little disappointed by their lack of updates and processing speed, and I really dislike having to constantly message them to get a reply.

  • Just in time! My Transcend card failed this morning :/

  • How does this deal compare to a normal EVO ?

    • +1

Quite strangely in fact (at least for the 32GB model), other than read which is definitely faster, the plus and regular evo are pretty comparable in most other aspects, with the regular one actually faster in some of the random benchmarks.

      • So not worth .33c ?

        • +1

To me, no, I don't care about the high read speed and I like orange more than red. I'm surprised by the small difference though, the plus is usually a couple or a few dollars more.

    128GB PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • +1

Your not using enough exclamation marks to recieve 128GB.

  • Has anyone ever received a tax invoice with their PC Byte order? My last order didnt have one, so I asked for one and they sent a pdf with some order details but it was missing the ABN and didnt even have an invoice date (clearly not a tax invoice!). I have emailed again and waiting for a response, but it shouldn't be this hard to get the invoice.

    • -1

probably to avoid the tax man

  • Good for loading up a phone with media

  • +2

Wait a minute…..how did i ended up with 10 samsung evo and 3 samsung evo plus microsdhc……with only 3 devices that can use with it….O_O

  • -1

Oh yea about the missing parcel thats an easy one. Its usually not that they didnt sent but more like your parcel has been stolen. The best thing to do is to direct all your mails to parcel locker.

The thieves are out there…… (xfiles music running)

    • +2

Stolen before they input any tracking info? Seems legit.

Tested the speed of my one that I ordered last week

    Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 86.427 MB/s
    Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 25.116 MB/s
    Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 9.214 MB/s [ 2249.5 IOPS]
    Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 2.738 MB/s [ 668.5 IOPS]
    Sequential Read (T= 1) : 80.324 MB/s
    Sequential Write (T= 1) : 55.123 MB/s
    Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 7.669 MB/s [ 1872.3 IOPS]
    Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 2.524 MB/s [ 616.2 IOPS]

    Test : 1024 MiB [F: 3.4% (2.0/59.6 GiB)] (x1)
    Date : 2016/06/24 21:09:02

    And using h2testw:

    Writing speed: 23.6 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 73.3 MByte/s

    • Thanks. How does the r/wr compare to the non plus evo?

      • +1

        Standard EVO

        Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 44.642 MB/s
        Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 23.095 MB/s
        Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 8.503 MB/s [ 2075.9 IOPS]
        Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 2.584 MB/s [ 630.9 IOPS]
        Sequential Read (T= 1) : 43.830 MB/s
        Sequential Write (T= 1) : 31.042 MB/s
        Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 7.746 MB/s [ 1891.1 IOPS]
        Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 2.478 MB/s [ 605.0 IOPS]

        Test : 1024 MiB [F: 3.4% (2.0/59.6 GiB)] (x1)
        Date : 2016/06/24 22:43:57

        H2Testw

        Writing speed: 23.2 MByte/s
        Reading speed: 39.7 MByte/s

A few variations in that the EVO+ I didn't reformat, while the EVO was formatted in a camera to ensure best allocation unit size, but I do not believe this would make a significant difference in the end result.

        Hope this is useful

  • Thanks OP! Just bought one. Hope I receive my delivery.

    • Has your order been sent yet?

  • How does this compare to the Sandisk ultra 80MB/s ?

    • so many models, find then write speed then we all know :)

  • This is back….
