    Can you stack them?

    • Previously I have only been able to add a new code in the last month of my subscription. But so many free codes have been posted here, I've had continuous free service for well over one year now.

    • I just tried with both codes and a 3rd one and I get errors, I am 2 months out, am guessing they are for new sign ups only

  • Oh Presto, the gift that just keeps on giving.

    • +51

…and like most gifts you never really wanted it or use it once you've got it.

      • +11

Between Netflix, Stan and Presto, those are the order from best to worse.

        • +12

Stan is almost on-par with Netflix now. They've really upped their game.

Not only is Presto's pricing model more expensive, but they still use a terrible flash based player that doesn't even support basic features, or HD and the rest of their site sucks.

        • +1

          @stickyfingers:
No way. I tried to use Stan last night to watch some Community and the quality was worse than the 70mb episodes Ive had for years.
My internet does netflix fine and will instantly go to 1080p.

        • +3

@stickyfingers: It's almost like Telstra doesn't want people to demand better Internet.

        • +1

@theguyrules: I've found it to be great. Netflix is still better but Stan is miles ahead in terms of steaming quality in comparison to Presto.

        • +3

          @theguyrules:
Agree. Stan is hot garbage too, trying desperately to compete with netflix with an inferior prod-

          BUFFERING

          -uct.

        • @thedude23:
I see this comment a lot and I suspect that its an ISP problem I have a fairly average connection here ans Stan has never once buffered. Now that they have updated their ATV4 app to include profiles and episode check marks i find them to be nearly equal with Netflix. The only thing I think Netflix has over Stan is their recommendations engine which is excellent.

      • +23

Actually, Presto is more like herpes, everyone has got it, but nobody wants it

    • i've now have a total of 1 year free Presto lol thanks to more and more Codes

  • +20

For the next promotion, presto going to pay us to use the service.

    • +29

Even then it won't be worth it.

  • Great timing, my free 6 months subscription has just expired and I got charged $15 this month, was going to cancel it at the end of this month.

    • +1

Ooh that hurts getting stung and finding out when its too late.

      • +2

Wouldnt surprise me if that was the entire business strategy behind these codes.

'lets hope people forget to cancel, so we can reap the rewards'.

    • +1

How do you keep using the free codes.
Is it not just for new subscribers?

      • I just went into my account settings and applied the promo code. Presumably it would give me 3 months of free subscription.

      • Yeah i cant find another place to paste the code. I have a spot to put a virgin velocity number but that is it.

  • +1

Presto is now available on the new Fetch TV Mini and Mighty (Gen 3) boxes, and will be rolled out to current Gen 2 boxes within the next few weeks.

Have tested it on my Mini, and it is actually usable!

  • Serious question - anyone watch much on Presto? I can occasionally find something interesting on Netflix, but haven't yet on Presto.

    • +5

I watched a bit of walking dead and fight club but didn't find anything else I was interested in. The video player is terrible, it drops frames on my high end pc for no apparent reason. The cataloguing system they have is god awful, searching through to see what shows are available is painfully slow and annoying. And lastly, they obviously don't have much of a collection in contrast to the kind of access netflix has to A titles and tv series.

    • +2

I am finding presto pretty good, it's software is nowhere near as good as Netflix though.

I find presto has a good, though smaller, range of pretty new movies, and then I just finished watching Generation Kill, so I think their range of tv is awesome.

On top of that I still haven't paid them a cent, so overall I think they are worth your time.

      • Thanks for that, I'll check it out.

    • +1

We are yet to find much of interest. We have a paid Stan subscription and watch it regularly. I can't recall the last time we used the 6 month presto trial.

    • +8

They actually have some decent content:

      • Mad Men
      • The Walking Dead
      • The Sopranos
      • Homeland
      • Wentworth
      • American Horror Story
      • Everybody Loves Raymond
      • The Office
      • The X Files
      • Sons of Anarchy
      • Packed to the Rafters
      • Gavin and Stacey
      • +4

Add Weeds and Parks an Rec to the list. Probably 2 shows I would never have watched if they weren't on Presto.

I'm on to my 2nd free 6 month stint and while it's not great, it's free entertainment.

      • +1

Thanks, gives me something to search on anyway!

      • +1

Banshee, Halt and Catch Fire, The Americans, Rectify to name some others.

    • +1

It's worth going through the previous presto deals to get feedback on what reverting is watching. The only thing not mentioned in this thread so far that I find pretty good is 'the Americans' and last night I started watching 'band of brothers'
It's not the best interface out there but you can use websites with content listing then go to presto and use the simple search function to then get the show happening.

      • +1

Reverting = everyone, thanks iPhone auto correct.

    • Banshee, Bates Motel and Mr. Robot.
Nurse Jackie is streaming again soon.

    • +2

Mr Robot series is a decent exclusive.

    • +1

Silicon Valley, Mr Robot, True Crime S1 were all great shows. I also used to watch Mother and Son but they took it off before I could finish it. What pissed me off was when it stopped working I emailed them to let them know, they got back to me saying thanks for letting us know you are right it's not working, and never told me wtf was going on.

There's also the Office and Extras which are must see if you haven't watched them. I guess quite a few people like Modern Family also. Apart from that there are plenty of old movies and a few new ones. It's not a service I would pay at for but it goes well with Iview and SBS On demand, between the 3 there is oodles to watch and you get a pretty well rounded bunch of shows

  • +2

+1 just for your logic for working out the new code. Lol

  • +13

I get more enjoyment out of the thought of having something for free than actually using Presto.

  • +6

I can't believe Presto doesn't have an Apple TV 4 app! What the hell? Even the free to air stations all have one!

    • +1

I can't believe the highest quality you can get is SD. On a paid service…

      • +1

you can get HD on the android app, then chromecast it to your big screen. That's what I do anyway. Works fine for me. But agreed, the lousy SD resolution you get in a browser is inexcusable

        • Good to know it works with chromecast. Doesn't work with my android box as it doesn't support external displays. It told me to use the normal display. Needless to say that wouldn't work.

    • +1

I had it for a few months on a freebie, but because it was just too annoying to watch without a dedicated app, I gave it up. I used a Chromecast successfully, but Netflix and Stan worked so much better for me straight through the ATV app.

As for SD, that doesn't worry me, although it might be nice to have an upgrade option to HD if that matters to you (which it doesn't to me).

    Promo Code Error
    neither code works.
does this require a new account?

Edit: i signed up a new account.
    on my pc i get
    DRM Error
You are not authorized to view this content.

I download the app for my galaxy s6 edge smartphone

I get ERROR Sorry! This video is currently not available. Please try again later. Error code: PS401

Presto isn't even worth it for free.

Neg vote for completely defective product as stated Here

    • Do you have some DNS location thingy set to overseas location?

      • +1

        nope
        also turned off adblock
        my mobile isn't rooted either

    • same I cant use the code. please some one explain

  • where do I enter promo code? can't stack maybe

  • +3

Gosh people are complaining a lot, free is free and presto is still decent. I find the Samsung TV app works better than the website and the quality is pretty good. No not as many movies/shows but there's some good and recent ones.

    • +5

      presto is still decent

Er … when did that happen?

      • +1

Around when they got HD I reckon. They always had at least a couple things worth watching, but once it started streaming in reliably good quality it was a decent service to use.

        • No HD on browser :(

          EDIT: Or subtitles either :(

    • What dies this damsung TV app do? Thanks!

      • Runs Presto on your Samsung TV. IIRC it streams Dolby Digital surround and pretty decent HD video, it's not bad.

  • So is it a deal or a glitch?

Their content isn't too bad, im not that picky so usually can find something to watch, but their iOS player is glitchy (eg launching the app in landscape mode is asking for trouble). On PC its also a little bit ordinary. Not bad for a freebie, im not one to complain for free stuff, but I'd be hard pressed to paying for this. I heard telstra might be looking at giving it for free to their customers, though I'd be treating it as a rumour at this stage.

  • Thanks OP.

  • Are the codes for movies + TV or either or?

    • Usually both

  • You can easily get 2 months free from woollies dockets right. Why presto keeps giving away free trials, are they really worse than stan?

    • +6

Why presto keeps giving away free trials

The general consensus is that Presto (and their free codes) exists as a marketing tool to boost Foxtel subscriber numbers (Foxtel count Presto customers as Foxtel customers), and to pull people (and streaming rights) away from Netflix and Stan.

    • +6

Because no one thinks it's a good service so the way they make money is offer free deals and charge the people that forget to cancel. It's a very innovative, web 2.0 model.

      • +3

After signing up change your registered credit card number to a none functioning credit card number. Any other valid but non-functioning credit card number will do for the change (but not for the initial signup).

  • Thanks for the code

  • The OzBargain is strong with this one.

  • +1

For every promo code I've tried, including this one, I have got a promo code error:

An error occurred when applying the promo code. Please review the troubleshooting guide to ensure you are applying the code correctly. If you continue to have further issues, please contact customer support at [email protected]

Any ideas? Apart from contacting customer support of course.

    Thank you

  • Great deal, cheers!

  • Looks like Presto is worth every cent! :)

  • sir, i take my hat off to you. this country could do with a few more smart people like yourself.

  • I am due to be billed on the 10th, cannot see the option to add another coupon code to the existing account?

  • Accepted the first code and gave me one month.
Paused subscription straight afterwards to prevent being charged if u forget.

  • Worked for me. I used the link to deal noted on this page, and entered the code in Presto Entertainment (not TV and not Movies) - gave me 3 months free.

But I can't unlock the R18+ classification. Any tips on that one?

    • +1

But I can't unlock the R18+ classification. Any tips on that one?

      Hi snook,
Grabbed this off the net for you.

Presto's content settings have been designed to be family friendly. Users are able to set the account to automatically access account up to MA15+ but access to R18+ will require users to enter their account PIN each time they wish to view content of this rating. This is designed to ensure younger users are not able to accidentally view inappropriate or mature content.

Rest assured, you will still be able to search for all R18+ content and there are just a small handful of R18 titles available.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers.

      • ahh, I see. Good stuff. Thanks for letting me know.

        • You are welcome.

  • Damn sounds like I'm the only one to actually like Presto!

  • sorry not worked for me.

  • I dont have any option in my account to enter the promo code :/

  • not working for me - can't get past password section
    my bad had ghostery on

  • the promo code option comes on the next page

  • I just opened a new account - the 08 code didn't work, but 07 did. It spat out a bunch of ajax errors, but after I closed them all, it worked. Thanks OP!

  • Looks like I one of the few that enjoy Presto. I love watching Frasier and Everybody Loves Raymond to unwind in the evenings. No brain work required and enjoyable entertainment. I watch it using a Chromecast. I love it! Even more when its free.

    • Hey I noticed last week that I no longer have the Chromecast button on my presto app? Tried reinstalling the app, powered cycling the phone, TV and router, still nothing. This isn't an epidemic is it? Might be just my phone, but it's proving to be a Pita.

Edit - did all this again and it just worked

  • Tried them both but unfortunately not working. Does anyone know of a working code? 6 months free expiry coming up in three days :/

    • Create a new account with a different email address.

  • TEL515INR07 is still working. Just renewed.

    • +1

      Can I ask:

Did you use an existing account?
Did you put the code in on the screen where it says the plan and there's a button that says "add promo code"?
What type of subscription did you have before? (how long, from where was the code?
Are you in the last month the of your current free subscription
      What device/browser are you using?

Sorry to ask all these questions but I get a Promo code error when I try, so trying to work out why it doesn't work for me

      • Yooo that was happening to me last night with my 6 month promo code and I messaged Presto today with them replying that apparently you can't add another promo code when you're already on one (I'm on my last month though :/ ). They're nice enough to add the promo code for me when my last month ends, I hope they don't forget. But I've heard from others that generally you can add another code when you're on your last month of your current code.

        • 6 month? Did you get that from the last deal? I thought that expired?

        • @Jackson: Yah it's from last deal but it's not to expire until 31 July. I mean if it had expired, Presto woulda told me. I just really don't want them to forget to add it on.

      • Sorry for late reply. I was on the last month of free subscription. Entered where it says add promo code. Presto entertainment package. Windows 10. Chrome browser. Hope this helps.

  • So I tried to use the code on an existing account that was inactive and no luck. Opened a new account as a telstra custome then added promo code and worked like a charm. Great work on the code! I would never pay for Presto otherwise

  • Thanks! Just renewed for an extra 3 months using TEL515INR07. No new account or anything, just whacked in the promo code box. Wonder how long I'll go before I ever get charged for Presto… lol
