Money worth nothing to your life.

Yes it is very dangerous indeed, you should definitely NOT consider going. More people thinking like this decreases demand and lowers prices. We care about you safety.

        • Media campaign to scare people into staying here…and spending here. Simply economics.

  • Appreciate your efforts TA.

Watch out with Vietnam Airlines, sometimes you have airport changes Hanoi <> Ho Chi Minh City that you need to do by yourself.
    Check out before you pay.
I have done Syd - Paris 2 years ago and we had 6 hrs layover in HCMC and 13 hrs on the way back to Sydney.
We used a scooter tour on the first layover to do a 2hrs tour of the city and it was amazing (Ao Dai tour) and we spent the day out during the 13hrs as we arrived at 7:30am in HCMC.

Just flicking through the trips on Skyscanner seems they all arrive and depart from Ho Chi Minh - thanks for the warning though.

    • did you need a tourist visa because they are quite pricey?

      • +1

I did, back in 2014 I ended up doing the Visa On Arrival, with authorization letter paid for USD$10 and paid cash about $50 usd with a passport size phot at the airport VOA counter. Check out TripAdvisor for "Vietnam VOA" if that is still required for Australia. (I am a french citizen so might be different for you. Hon-hooon.)

Depending on the fare class booked, Vietnam Airlines sometimes provide a free transit visa when requested.

Just got a Vietnam visa from the Sydney consulate single entry is now $85AUD

  • "Layover at Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam for 13h 45m"

and you will need a visa if you want to leave the transit area

Extremely hot and stuffy airport, minimal aircon. 13 hours here would be torturous.

      • I disagree about the hot and stuffy part. I've transitted SGN dozens of times and never once found it hot and stuffy. It's a pretty minimalistic terminal though.

    Sacre bleu!

    "Safe travels"…

  • This one or the China Southern to Europe?

  • These are all deals with Bestjet. Flight Centre will be able to beat them if you feel so inclined as they are Australian owned and operated.

Don't forget you can use www.optiontown.com to get an upgrade if you book with Vietnam Airlines.

    • I wonder what the cost is to upgrade via optiontown? Perhaps someone that has booked could check?

  • This seems to be one of the worst Airlines? For $900 you could wait for a reputable airline.
