  Any potential purchasers should be made aware that the "graphics amplifier" requires you to purchase a graphics card.

  From a brief look at the site, I can see the cheapest unit has a 960M and the most expensive has a 970M. To improve the performance you'd get from the cheapest unit, you'd need to pay AT LEAST $429 (being the cheapest 970 on PCCG, not sure if you can use AMD on these units) on top of your already $1500+ laptop.

    The very minor $200 saving is not worth the higher upfront cost buying off the dell online store.

    Outlet store or sell Ebay during sales is the way to go. Substantially higher savings, you could just buy the amplifier outright if you really wanted it

    I guarantee you that every single person considering one of these also knows that you need to purchase a GPU to go inside of it, in the same way they know that a car needs petrol.

    Also a desktop 960 is more powerful than a 970m, so there's that.

  There is a couple of videos on the net that not all graphics card will fit. Be careful before you buy.
